After his "survival of the fittest" talk yet we are here, two weeks into season with 2 new signings and no one leaving.
I have really low expectation. Just start the season already.
You would have to assume that Ed pulled him to one side and told him in no uncertain terms should he be condemning the players because I remember him doing it twice. I feel sorry for Ole in a way. I think he knows deep down that at least 6-7 of that squad are s8ite and the club have not backed him with the rebuild that was necessary so he now needs to keep the players he has on side. I am not expecting anything better than a top 6 finish again.

For all this talk from Ole that the players need to be fitter, need to press more, he forgets one simple thing, the quality is missing there.

I dont know why people yapping with those quotes from post Everton game, its clear for everyone, he said something few months/weeks back and now backtracking in public, what you want him to say? If he comes out with opposite, it will been seen as an act vs club and certain players wont be happy.

He knows that if he fecks up this gig, thats it, back where he was, so he will hold onto this job as long as possible, why you think he sold out our performances from first few games and switched focus to win regardless how approach.

Now about forcing people out thing, its not easy to do so if they dont wanna move, so it depends from case to case. Some might go on loan somewhere if their wages are intact (in case you cant sell them) etc. In the same time, lets not forget, there are few players during last season who got their contract extensions under Ole and that should never happen.

For example, there is a talk about replacing Matic and getting new DMC, wouldnt be funny if they drag that decision as much as possible and activate that one year extension on Matic.

He said both things. Judging from our lineup of the 4-0 loss against Everton, could've been expected for us to get rid of Jones, Smalling, Young, Matic and Lukaku..

  • 1de Gea
  • 2Lindelöf
  • 12Smalling
  • 4Jones (Young)
  • 20Dalot
  • 6Pogba
  • 31Matic
  • 17Fred (McTominay)
  • 10Rashford (Pereira)
  • 9Lukaku
  • 11Martial
Think he was referring to that entire squad not just those players but even then...Lukaku hasn't been "fit", Wan-Wissaka has replaced Young/Dalot and we're looking at a CB to partner with Victor and Axel potentially coming in.... Of course I'd like us to sell few in this window as well but based on what he said, he's making progress in replacing them and then hopefully getting rid..... If most aren't sold this summer then as long as they're not regular starters, its progress IMO.

Sorry but my post post was aimed at the state of things, not at Ole. Of course i know he has to say that but the fact he has had to shows the state that the club is in. A lot of people around here jump to the wrong conclusions all the time.
Ah yeah, misread your post.

I can forgive the outgoings to some extent because it will be difficult to shift a few of these players with the wages they're on. That said, I am a bit worried by the lack of progress on any more signings since Wan-Bissaka joined nearly a month ago, and I'm amazed there's been no movement on finding a replacement for Herrera.

It is funny how so many people are dissapointed, because come end of transfer window we did not buy 7,8,9 players and got rid of at least 10 deadwood, not good enough, over payed Diva dross we have. I am also pretty sure if some of Caf people are in charge of transfers, we will by now have completely new team, with each of them on 35k £ per week wages and all transfer fees would be about 10m£ and at the same time we will sell all of our deadwood players for total amount of 250m£.

If Ole doesn't get what he was promised, he should walk. It is not fair on a manager to take all the blame because of the club not supplying the funds promised to bring in new players.
If we are not in a position to challenge around Christmas time, he will be sacked. This would be unfair after all the promises made. It is also unfair to the fans who expected much more than the 2 players brought in so far in this transfer market. Rebuild my a@se.

Nice deflection, but in reality most people want Woody to do his actual job and sign a better than average CB and a RW that will make an impact. If possible a CM of ability so that the club can compete with the top 4 clubs at least.

That's his job, if he is not allowed to spend then inform us, all this posturing and no action is the catalyst for the fans misery.

The overreactions on here

He says we're still working on signings. Do people assume that's a lie? I'd imagine a couple more are on the way.

As for selling deadwood it's up to Ed to find a way to get rid of players not Ole. It's not as if Ole he will be forced to play the likes of Rojo and Darmian just because they havent left yet.

The window isnt even closed yet and I reading that Ole is a yes man and that he should just walk.

What if the posturing is his actual job?

To be fair Mourinho got the same treatment when he talked up Young and how much he'd play, probably by people on both sides. It's not surprising to see people react adversely to a lack of investment and shit players staying. It's just the norm as is a manager trying to be positive.

It's not just a one season project. Obviously it's not great if we only do 2 signings, but not the end of the world. Just prolongs it and makes January/next summer bigger.
Next year will be our year right?

Exactly, I said this before the transfer window started. The only way things will change is if Ole says you know what, I have been promised a rebuild.. and i get 2 players? one of them is a talent and resigns. That will mean alot more because, they will struggle to get a manager without changes to the structure because Jose, Van Gaal have both come out and said the club has broken promises.

People talking about a rebuild taking 2 years, but common! 2 players! 2! it is meant to be our most important transfer window in a while.

What if no one is interested?
There's a fair argument to make here but clubs aren't interested in our 'deadwood' mainly because they're extremely overpaid, but the club obviously don't consider many squad members as deadwood, since they give pretty much everyone but Darmian extentions.

Rojo, Jones, Young for instance all recently extended their contracts, obviously the club is not trying to get rid of them.

Question - If you don't get transfers done, would you be confident with the current squad to move up the places.

Ole - I believe in these players .........

Caf - Wow, woodward puppet. Let me post the Everton quotes and what not.

Certain threads have become a haven for a bunch of very immature fans. They are worse than the matchday thread posters

They don't even check what question is asked, bunch of drama queens moaning in every thread.

Question was about if no transfers are done, is he confident with current squad to move up the places, maybe he should have said "No, I can't work with these twats anymore. If Woodward won't sign more players, I will join #Glazerout brigade".

Some people are really strange. SO last season they bashed Jose because he was throwing a fit and "supposedly" challenging the board (btwn how did that work out for Jose and the club). Now they want Ole to do the same and just bash Woodward. Ole clearly would have wanted a clear out but he is not the person to do that. Woodward has completely killed the wage structure that is becomes extremely difficult for buyers to buy our deadwoods. Will say one more time Woodward is an incompetent CEO who has done an absolutely pathetic job on footballing side.

What is he supposed to say? Solskjaer made it quite clear he wants more signings in when he said they've identified areas where they can improve. Throwing his toys out the pram isn't going to achieve anything as we saw with our manager last year.
I clearly interpret this as :

We can do well with what we have, but if we get a few more players - we will do better.

No, more just theres a way to go about your business and it shouldnt be the end of the world and moaning or quitting or whatever isn't the way to deal with not making signings. Poch last summer didn't get any new players, he got on with it. Mourinho was dramatic from day 1 and only made things worse.

I think we will still see 2 or 3 incoming and the same number going out - but it will probably happen in the last week of the window. The standard transfer window now. 8 weeks of posturing then when time is running out everybody makes decisions.

Leicester are holding firm on Maguire - we are holding firm on Lukaku. I'll wager both players will be sold for an amount 20% below the 'firm' asking prices that are being mentioned all summer. Clubs don't want to keep players that have had their heads turned.

Is this hope rather than expectation?
