Dybala doesn't change the fact that we wouldn't have a RW. He'd be in direct competition with Gomes, if anything.
Another I did namecheck as being effected by this potential transfer

Will they though? A week or so Greenwood was being tipped to start against Chelsea and be given the chance of making the RW position his own, Dybala comes in and that goes right out of the window and Greenwood becomes nothing more of a stopgap until Dybala is up to fitness

And before someone comes in mid discussion I'm not saying don't buy Dybala because of Greenwood I'm just saying there are silver linings to only getting cash for Lukaku
Healthy competition. If Greenwood and co are good enough they will play. But we cannot take risks, as a club of our magnitude and in our current situation, to rely on unproven youngsters. I really like the look of our young players, namely Greenwood and Gomes, and I'm sure Ole is aware of their potential and will give them game time.

Also remember it’s Ole in charge. He understands the situation. He knows to give youngsters a chance especially our academy kids. He will rotate and they will get their chance.

I agree with the potential disruption but all players mentioned have a good amount of versatility and would only be a bonus in a fluid system if we have a number of players that can play in lots of positions.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
I'm undecided towards this potential deal.
It's a strange one. On the one hand he's a very good player, but it's just a question of how he fits in. I'm guessing a fluid front three of Martial, Rashford and Martial. I think we'll want to keep a three man midfield, or at least have the option of switching to that during a game.

Might be well off and he stays but had considered if this was Dybala pushing for the move more than led on.
"I'm happy where I am, what are you going to offer to persuade me?" is a stronger negotiating stance than "I'm desperate to get out of there" and saying he wants to stay at Juventus helps retain his standing with the Juve fans if no move materialises or can't agree terms.
A bit of application/"I was won over by the ambition of the club/manager" etc would then soon win over the majority of the fanbase.
That isn't to imply his sole incentive is money (though realistically everyone's out to maximise their earnings) and can understand the reticence/comparisons with the Di Maria situation, but think could be a case of someone looking and thinking I'm entering my prime yet my importance is being reduced/always going to be secondary to Cristiano here.

I think this will be fantastic signing for Man. United, I've said you should go after him or James Rodriguez for that marquee signing in number 10/left wing role. Both very talented players and at stages of their career where they need to be main men at the clubs they're at.

Dybala scored 19 league goals in 15/16 and 23 in 17/18 in Serie A (he scored three hat-tricks that year). Fantastic stats for someone who dosen't play like a pure number 9 and takes many positions outside the box. Add in the goals he scored in Coppa Italia and CL (also remember the fantastic double he scored v Barca).

Of course it's easy to say of course he'll score loads for Juventus but he also scored 14 for Palermo back in 14/15 which was his debut season in Italy. Now last season he did have a major dip, seemed he had personal issues and of course all forwards have to play supporting cast and bow down to Ronaldo. It can't be easy when you score and you turn round and see Ronaldo jumping up and down as he didn't get a pass for a tap in. Douglas Costa is another who went completely off the boil last year.

If I was to liken this signing to another major one in last three years I'd actually compare it to when Alexis Sanchez moved to..........Arsenal. Here was a guy who was reasonably regular at Barca but couldn't make that extra step due to Messi presence.

So off he went and he became main man at Arsenal and posted some unbelievable goalscoring stats for a few years. Really think Dybala could have a similar impact, it's certainly more exciting for you guys than Mata or Lingard playing that position for most of the season anyway.

Not really sure what Juve are smoking. Ronaldo is 34 and a half, Mandzukic is I think a year younger and Higuain is fat (and also over 30 now). Selling him and Moise Kean strikes me as very odd. Lukaku will come in and score but we've seen in later stages of CL he is pretty limited so can't see improvement in the final stages, guess that's the problem when you sign up a coach as un-negotiable in his style of play as Sarri is.

So to conclude, Dybala isn't winning you the league but you've certainly got far more chance of making top 4 with him in the line up. It's probably the sort of signing Chelsea would've made to replace Hazard if there was no transfer ban.
Good post man.

Wanted him prior to him joining Juventus, not gonna lie. I thought he had Ballon d’or potential.

Juve swapping him for Lukaku seems odd, almost suspicious to be honest.

Is there a chance he is rapidly declining? I can’t for the life of me understand why they would want to get rid of him. For Lukaku!

We are cursed with players from Argentina though .

Let's face it if he signs with us in a years time he will either be taking us to court to join Liverpool, Playing for city while waving a RIP Ole banner, subbing himself off the pitch for no reason and refusing to play for us , saying how much he hates it here every day in the media or be Marcus Rojo .

His agent is in London to meet with us. We've reached an agreement with Juve for the swap and it's all up to Dybala who will decide in the next few days and come to Manchester to sign if it's a yes. Apparently.
Just seen sky report that we have agreed a swap deal in principle
He's signed
Sky Italia reporting the two teams have agreed to a swap deal. Now the ball is on Dybala’s court and he is going to decide if he wants to move to United or stay at Juve.
Ok thanks for that guys.

In an ideal world, this season we have Dybala as no.10 with Mata as back up cover. Lingard is sold on last day of the transfer window. The following season, Gomes replaces Mata as Dybala's no.10 back up cover. Gomes eventually takes over as no.10 and Dybala becomes back up to Gomes.

On the face-of-it it should work wonders but we've been sooooooooooooo bad with these sort of deals. They just haven't paid off for us.

If he really wants to play in England and especially for us and Ole can accommodate him in our side then I would welcome him.
Let's face it, Ole does not want Lukaku and we are not going to get anything north of 55mil for him so we have the opportunity of getting in a player who was tagged as the heir apparent to the great man not so long ago into our club and if he is up to the challenge I am sure the fans will love him.

Is it bad that I still think Rojo is the worst option?

What's the value of Dybala? I would have thought he'd be worth more than 55M.

Ole already convinced me when he took over and immediately alienated and eventually got rid of Fellaini. If he can also get Lukaku out and bring in a Dybala, he will forever be a managerial legend in my eyes, even if he's sacked by xmas.

Apparently we value Lukaku at around 85m Euros and they value Dybala at around 90-95m Euros.
Wow, would be an amazing get for us if he comes.

So here's a list of Argentinian players who have played for United:
G. Heinze,
Rojo,
Veron,
Tevez.

Am I forgetting someone? Oh yeah, that filthy RAT Di Maria, almost forgot about him.
