The deal that just won't die a dignified death. Reports out of Italy are that it isn't over. But it really is.

Original tweet:
That first tweet would make sense if the window didn't shut in a few days.

Reckon we'll try for Eriksen, but can't see us pulling it off.

Silver lining the kids will definitely get chances and I'm ok with that.

If we could be sure of that then I'd be all for it. Unfortunately, I think that the minutes we're hoping would go to Greenwood, Gomes, Garner and Chong will go to Lingard, Mata and Matic.

The kids will play in the cups and Europa League, if they perform well in them they'll get chances.

EDIT: I'd also expect them to get 10-20 mins in the league occasionally.

Wonder if the Dybala deal suddenly comes back to life if Dybalas brother/agent drops his ludicrous fee demands

If the issue with Dybala is a greedy agent, then I can live with the deal being resurrected. Wonderful player. But I have it stuck in my head that he doesn’t want to come here; and for all the caution one has about Ole as manager, I do very much like his philosophy and approach to squad management and recruitment. And this signing feels antithetical to that.

I just don't think the quality is there. Midfield is weaker than last season, our attack will be too if Lukaku leaves, De Gea looks human after all, we lost 6 of our last 10 games (no win in 5) going into the summer and have a novice manager in charge.

I'd much sooner have some fun and play the kids (exuberance of youth and all that), than have to endure a tumescent season of watching Lingard/Mata/Matic/Darmian et al attempt (and fail) to grind out results every week.

Like who? Pogba wants out anyway and will definitely leave next summer. De Gea is about to sign a new deal. None of the rest have any business complaining about playing for a midtable side - they aren't good enough.
My goodness calm down and think of anything but United as it seems to really bring you down my friend. Just look forward to the season no matter what... I expect moments that'll really get on my nerves and make me wanna walk out of he stadium but I can't turn my back on the team... Not even as dour as it was last season we still sung and chanted the club and the players until we ended it horribly... Looking forward to this season massively.

Our biggest problems were defensive predominantly last season but we actually scored more than a couple of teams in he top four but we leaked a hell of a lot more.... Not anymore hombre ...we have acquired Maguire.... Bring on the fire

The one good thing about our transfer window closing earlier than others is United cannot be used for other clubs/players/agents benefit with these fake nonsense.

I'm torn between the fact that, ideally, he'd rather stay at Juve and he'd see us as the next best option (and a way to get a bumper paypacket) and the fact that he's a brilliant player and maybe it might work out. I mean, if we keep throwing darts, surely we'll hit the bullseye sometime.

Yes, my sentiments are very similar. Reading the article in The Athletic today about how Solskjær has screened his signings, was very impressive though. Ultimately he will be judged on results, but for my money he is actively doing everything the right way, with the right mentality. A mentality that gives us the best possible platform for success. Whether he is the man to build on it, time will tell. But for the first time in a long time I feel like the club has a clear direction, philosophy and goal that is congruous with what we fans have come to expect in better times. I believe he is restoring the pride for playing for Manchester United.

Having talented players who are willing to give 100% all the time, and are excited to be here, are the ONLY sort of players we should be signing. And as much as my inner muppet, fantasist, and FM groupie wants us to sign an enigmatic player like Dybala; I think it’s wise for us to steer clear. He has Di Maria vibes all over him.

All the reports were that he accepted the salary. He was taking time and wanting to speak with the new manager. Cafe had no patience or empathy. Then we had English media pick up on the delay saying United didn't want a Di Maria scenario. And now it is revealed that the holdup is more to do with financials from the agent and imaging side that's not nearly the same as him rejecting us .

Fact is, if you're able to be empathetic to another human being it should be clear as day: uprooting from a country you've been in and loved for some time NOT of your own volition takes a minute to stomach. If there's anything a level headed individual should do, it's not be hasty off of second hand information and wait to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

That and to me, his sense of loyalty and commitment to Juve in the matter strikes of a player that should he decide to join us, could well see out the best years of his career here, beloved by us (wishful thinking, sure)

I thought PSG were ditching their marquee cock extension signings after how much of a clusterfeck Neymar has been? Oh well Dybala supposedly wanted PSG so at least he gets it now. Enjoy being the new Javier Pastore I guess.
Well Pastore was younger and not such a known name in Europe but very true. He is the last player heavily linked with I was absolutely gutted we didnt sign. At the time I thought he could go on to be one of the stars of the game, maybe over rated him......but I still think the stage we were in at the time and if he ad of joined us he would have been superb for us and had a really good career here, wasted it at PSG

All those renewals pointed to the reality that there wouldn't be much investment in the attack or midfield.
We will then deserve the reality of our league position come May which I'd wager will not be in the top 4.
If mediocrity is our aim I think we will get there.

I'm clinging to the hope of another signing but hopefully not fecking Longstaff.

The Sky article on Longstaff really made me want him. Sounds like the perfect Matic replacement. Not for £50m though!

I very much doubt we are done. I strongly suspect one more will come in. Once the English window shuts, we will see some outgoings to foreign clubs of our surplus/deadwood.

I think we'll be active, or at least attempt to be, on deadline day.
We might have some outgoings after our window shuts, but don't think we'll have anyone incoming.

Seems like the Dybala swap was the last attempt, and I think it's dead although the Italian press won't give it a rest.

I’m sure I read Dybala wanted 18mil in wages. No chance would he drop that when he don’t want to come. The deal is dead.

I’m still mostly hopeful of internal development and the freedom strengthening the defence could bring us.

Having Maguire rather than Smalling at the back should mean we can play out and get the ball to our forwards further up the pitch instead of Matic or Pogba coming deep to pick it up.

And it mustn’t be forgotten that changing managers mid-season with a completely different style is always going to be difficult. Hopefully with the whole of pre-season working on the pressing and attacking movement we will see benefits from this.

The other thing as well is people keep dismissing Rashford as if he has peaked already. Development isn’t a straight line and he has shown what he could be during his hot streaks. Look st the way Sterling has developed the last two seasons compared to his first two with City.

Please can we stop with all the penis references (zipping/unzipping, semi/flaccid, wanking etc).

why are we expressing our feelings towards transfers in this way? There's so many other expressions to choose from. And there are probably women & kids in this forum.

 Yet its ironic that your chosen moniker is Sideshow Bob, a character who tries to kill a 10y.o boy in a show.
