I’ve had enough of how United have been run into the ground and am here to speak openly & honestly which a lot of us are scared to admit - and that’s we’re a club of the past.

Thanks to ^that^ guy & his cronies/higher ups.

Look, I could give a rats ass about how “big” we are financially. It doesn’t mean feck all if we have nothing to show for on the pitch. And that’s been 100% the case ever since Ed has been in charge.

Myself and many others really did believe he changed for the better with promising signs this transfer window but it’s just the same old, kick in the nuts disappointment.

> we have no replacement lined up for Lukaku
> no replacement for Herrera/Fellaini
> no new starting CM and that’s without mentioning a starting RW or CDM
> no player sold

...no plan b/c everything is made up on the fly as players keep rejecting us left, right, and centre.

Can’t believe the fecking joke our club has turned into because of this clown. All we have left now is history because we know we won’t be making anytime soon. It’s unbelievably sad. The worst part is I can’t even believe how long we’ve/it’s been allowed to carry on for and after countless failures there still seems to be no end in sight.

THIS USED TO BE MANCHESTER FECKING UNITED - THE FOOTBALLING GLORY OF THE WORLD! NOW WE’RE JUST SOME FECKING AFTERTHOUGHT PAYDAY CLUB THAT HAS NO DIRECTION AND ONLY MARKETING AMBITION. WHAT IN THEE ACTUAL FECK!!!

Fecking hell just look objectively. Maybe Moyes was a problem, maybe LVG was, maybe Mourinho was, and heck maybe even Ole is. But not ALL of them could have been the problem that’s just fecking impossible. There’s one constant and it’s the ownership+Ed.

We’ve missed out on Dybala+Eriksen and the club gives out bs excuse to journalists that we “pulled the plug” on them because they didn’t want us enough. No that’s a lie. In reality the players rejected us and they make a sorry excuse to save face because they were balls deep going after them prior to them rejecting us. It shows Ed/United haven’t changed regardless of how much they want to portray it. And even if it is true, it’s too little too late as fewer and fewer players jump up at the thought of joining United. And I don’t blame them. Why would they anyways at the current state the club is in?

We’re like that person that goes last second gift shopping. No vision and pure scattergun approach. It’s why we are where we are. I love United to fecking bits but it’s a waste of time supporting them knowing it’ll be for nothing most of the time and will lead to failure with the incompetent people running it. God bless Ole and his little soul. Working around such a discombobulated support system isn’t easy - just ask all our other previous managers.
You post this like it’s breaking news.

4 Europa League campaigns in the last 6 years should tell you enough.

You're 100% correct. People may not like it but the truth hurts.

I sometimes have to pinch myself to realise that this is actually happening.

Manchester United who struggle to even qualify for competitions let alone compete in them, reduced to whoring the blood, sweat & tears of our famous history for American businessmen who couldn't care less about our great club.

Let's be realistic, as it stands, we are very likely to finish outside the top 4 yet again. It's become our level.

The club now is nothing like the club i fell in love with as a kid. It's soul destroying to witness. I'm becoming increasingly disillusioned with the club and football in general with every passing year.

Sport is meant for competing, not just becoming a cash-cow for foreign businessmen, with the actual football becoming a sideshow. This is where the authorities have let the fans down.

I don't know if others feel the same way, but it feels like i'm in a toxic relationship. The joy has been long gone. I'd be interested to see if others feel the same way too.

What use is spending if there’s no coherent plan in place?

If anything it just shows the piss take these people running the club are taking.
We’ve signed three young british players this window. What’s incorerent about that?

It's a minority. The twats however are just louder and more annoying
Nice. Calling people twats who are calling things how they are. More like you should get used to the reality of things.

Do as much name-calling as you like. I’m sure you’re so much better as a fan for diverting away from the obvious.

feck me. Look at everyone posting “ugh I can’t stand these top reds who are pretending everything is fine.”

feck off. Top reds in this case means people who aren’t throwing the toys out of the pram after United don’t sign everyone they want.

Very few players out in the world of football would improve us. Very few of those players are available on a transfer. We have spent over 600 million in five years am I right in saying? If throwing money at the problem would sort it, we’d be easily second.

We have people begging us to replace ole with Poch, and at the same time throwing the toys out of the pram because we haven’t signed anyone. Think about what Tottenham did last year after signing no one!

We’ve won all our preseason games. We’ve significantly strengthened our first team. We have worked massively on fitness. We have a manager who we all love.

Of course you can be happy if you want to. Look at it this way, there might be some money left over to spend on FM this year!

We've won some stuff in this period you speak of
But those 3 trophies can’t disguise the fact that our fall from grace has been unacceptable. Its 6 years now since 2013,and we are not even close to competing for the title again this season...It’s depressing to even think about where we are right now as a club...

Except we didn’t “move away” from the business model at all. Ed and United were desperate for Dybala and it only got shot down when the player clearly shot it down.

Ed just put it out there that we pulled the plug to save face. If we really moved away from that business model, we’d have signed one of the other handful of midfielders out there who would instantly start and improve the squad balance. They just choose not to. I wonder why...
I'm not sure what your point is here. Dybala's reluctance to come here unless the commercials of the deal were extraordinary were well documented. Not just by English journos but the Italians too. The deal isn't happening now yet you're upset? Surely you must be happy the club isn't going for such a deal as it shows a change in approach to how we got certain other big name players recently?

Moreover, if you cannot see the change in our business this summer to the previous years, as @Wumminator put it, you must have ignored everything that's actually happening

This is literally the first summer since Ferguson retired that we actually seem to have a plan and yet I'm reading rubbish about how we have "No vision and pure scattergun approach".
Exactly. For the first time we have stopped increasing the wages till players agree to move and actually have some plan in signing and how we want to play. Odd thing to complain, at least at this moment.

You're not wrong. People will try to deflect and try to ridicule you on here no doubt. Largely because they dont want to hear the truth and because its easier to ridicule something than to accept it.
Washed up club run top to bottom by complete idiots. In hindsight this club was doomed the moment those leeches bought the club. It's just because we had the greatest coach of all time papering over the cracks. Normal coaches might paper the cracks for a few years but SAF obviously papered it for a good 5-6 years before you started seeing the lack of investment/lack of direction from the higher ups. On the footballing side of it they literally have no idea what they are doing let's be honest here.

You're the one who's been exposed from changing the tune of your entire mood in the span of a few days. Very fecking childish.
Why is it hard for fans to wait the end of transfer windows before sharing their needless sentiments on the club's situation ? Just stop being a bitch.

Ludicrous thread, specially at the start of a season. This is pure desperation based on "money spent" or "transfers" which isn't the be all and end all of football. Keeping your team together, coherence in strategy and play-style is more valuable.

By your definition Liverpool would be a "has been" club already but they have proved that by hiring a manager with a vision and sticking with him reaps long term benefits. Results on the pitch are rarely immediate, it takes years of planning and effective execution. While we have lacked in both, it is plausible that we may eventually get it right (like Liverpool has after multiple debacles).

So, this is totally a knee-jerk throwing your toys out of the pram type of thread because you didn't get shiny new toys to play with this year. At least give the team a chance before throwing everyone under the bus.

Even if it means our overall level of quality continues to decline? Good stuff.
I'm not sure what the alternative is? Do you want us to sack Ole and get a amanger who dybala fancies or something? Ole doesn't have a life long contract here. He'll be off if it doesn't work out but I've no doubt he'll do everything he can to do right for the club unlike the cretin he's succeeded. If it doesn't work out, we'll get a new manager but as long as he's here, we need players who want to play for him. Yes. There's no alternative

I know mate. Was just having a wee laugh. I agree with the points you have made. The thing that really pisses me off is we haven’t improved the midfield. We are virtually a Pogba injury/departure away from a catastrophe in that area as we don’t have anyone near as good creative wise as him. Just have to hope McTominay stays consistently good and continues to silence his early critics (which was one of myself), Fred has a major transformation like Lindelof had last season and becomes a key member of the team plus Pereira steps up.

You’re really relying on Ed and a few more hours but calling me childish after he’s already fallen short these past few days?

Yea totally, I’m sure whatever (if anything) he has in plan these last few hours definitely isn’t a scattergun panic approach. Oh wait.

Bizarre when the OP started this thread not that long ago:

https://www.redcafe.net/threads/can...ebuild-new-core-is-nearing-completion.449419/

What a difference 4 days can make!

So JJ12 post is spot on

This thread wouldn't have been made if Dybala or Eriksen were coming.

Toys out the pram stuff.

I mean.....

People criticised my “our biggest problem is our spoilt fan base” thread.

Then you read this.
How is this thread our biggest problem, though? This thread, and the like, aren't the reason we've been rubbish for 6 years now, and I say this as someone who isn't a fan of this thread or United being labelled a "has been club".

I'm not on relying on anything, I never trusted Woodward but didn't feel the need to make another pointless thread about it. Specially not if I was feeling pretty optimistic a few days ago. Considering our situation, even acquiring Messi and Ronaldo, would still have been cause for caution and restraint.
I hate how some fans feel things in extreme, extreme muppet like joy when you get your shiny players in or complete doom and gloom when they're not bought.

Kind of sort of.

It looked like things were changing but it’s the same old. We can easily sign a different CM (Bruno, Partey, etc) but clearly it’s not in United’s financial/marketing interest. Instead, they’d rather let our team be subpar.
You're whinging about us becoming a 'payday' club but then whinging when we aren't signing players that want a payday.

Thanks. And I’m being honest with my feelings here. I don’t get the offence some people are taking. If anything, I’m shook by how readily they’re willing to ignore it...have we honestly become this numb to the new United?

I do mean that among 19 other examples of seasons. perpetually behind the team relative to our shower
Well, in that case, their optimism derives from the fact that their status as one of the most successful clubs in the world (historically) kind of demanded of them to go into any next season with their heads held high despite the fact that this demanded a lot of mental gymnastics from their fanbase. But many of our "top reds" don't actually advocate something like that. Instead, they say to others "you should be fine with finishing sixth if we play attacking football" or my personal favourite "who do you think you are expecting United to remain successful after you have witness 1/4 of a century of unparalleled success?". This is resignation, not optimism, and it's no wonder that it generates emotional responses like the OP. Actually, i can sympathise with the viewpoint of someone like Wumminator. I don't agree with it at all but i can see where he's coming from. But there are so many others who are just as annoying as the pessimists around here.
