It's completely crazy. Every little word is analyzed and criticized.
We used to criticize Jose for his negative pressers, now Ole is positive and complimentary and, imagine that, doesn't say Alexis should leave and is shit before we sell him, and all hell brakes lose.
Hell, he shouldn't even call players by their names ffs. My God..
I would prefer if he just referred to them as numbers, they should not be seen as human beings in his eyes.

I agree with what you say about Sanchez but is it the right time to do it? Our players go injured every now and then and our squad options is limited, what he is thinking about I don't know!
Looks like he's leaving gaps in the squad for the academy products doesn't it. Like LVG did. Like the idea myself.

The whole country is going this way.

Find something to be optimistic about; you're a snowflake.

Ole wants to field Greenwood, who most wanted last season, and was very exciting in pre season;Nooooo! he's too young and inexperienced,Ole's throwing him to the lions.

Boy, have we got some real pieces of work in the forum these days
I hear you brother. Sir Alex in his prime would be put to sword here. Glad there was none of this in his first 3 years. We would be swimming in the lower leagues currently.

And just so we're clear; I don't care about any of them. They're all just a number: Like Wife number one and Therapist number seven. Good day!

So let me get this right. If Mason doesn't play there's crying. Ole says he'll play. Crying again.

What he says in a presser gives zero indication if he's a yes man or not, frankly.

He's just saying just the right answers so the press have nothing negative to write about, which is what they are constantly striving for.

They feasted on Mourinho's critical press conferences which generated headline after headline, which was a bit of a circus in the end. Ole is giving them nothing in comparison.

His answers are pure press training and nothing more.
I hear that, but I am not impressed by it. It's a faceless response to questions, which do not befit the working environment. It's a Press Conference before a weekend of Premiership action... not a cabinet or some flaming committee meeting... he needs to start to show his own personality, because just 'playing on the break...' isn't really going to get him very far.

I would be far more confident in him, if he started to talk about what he feels and wants. He is, at the moment, spectacularly ambiguous, and increasingly contradictory (note the Sanchez situation).

What is he scared of?

I don't want scared people running Manchester United. Because, ultimately, it will reflect on how the team is shaped and performs.. through fear, and reaction.

When you say what he scared of what are you talking about? Are we still talking about the press conferences?

We all love United
. Have you ever managed anyone? It’s not public school, you refer to people by their names like a normal human being.
I have never heard other managers doing that. Not even Fergie, Jose, Pep, Wenger who are/were the best managers in the world. It’s just weird to me

Yes, he should be deadpan and call the press names, like 'fat man.' While telling them they have no right to ask questions

I know he said what he said because he had to say it but this is a complete 360 from what Ole said last week
You don't think for a second... the manager... was putting on a brave face and protecting his player in public

Ole has played it perfectly. Sanchez's time here was miserable and we both needed a clean slate.

That sort of thing could lead to embarrassing situations, like calling Chris Smalling Mike. No experienced manager would countenance such a thing.

Aye. What he's said in his press conferences is as good as it was ever likely to be. Sanchez was training well and could be option... right up until he's loaned out and Ole admits it's best for both parties. Smalling is down the pecking order in a six-man field, an opportunity arose and he's off to try for first team football elsewhere. He's happy with his forward options (absolute bollocks but what's he meant to say?) and a bit of pressure on the likes of Rashford, Martial, Lingard and even Greenwood could bring out the best in them.

There is a worrying lack of options, never mind quality, in midfield and up front but this squad of underachieving and/or unhappy players has had a reckoning coming for a long time. Now it's here we're left short in a few positions and the board can carry the can for not bringing in more quality in summer, but for me the current situation is preferable to carrying players who either can't or won't deliver what we need on the pitch and paying them all full whack.

Wow, who knew press conference was so important. If teams are shaped by press conferences then Pep team would have played like drunken monkeys.

Decision to let Sanchez leave
I think Alexis needed to go. It has not really worked out for him, for him as well. It will only benefit everyone.

I’m trusting Marcus, Anthony, Mason to be our centre forwards. We’ve got loads of options and for me it is time for our boys to feel the pressure. It is something which we are looking forward to.
Weird. That is what he said post Palace game :

Addressing Sanchez’s future after the shock defeat to Palace at Old Trafford, Solskjaer said: ‘Alexis is a quality player, of course he is

‘We don’t have loads of options. If there is an offer that is good enough for the club and for him maybe he’ll go. ‘If not, he’s still our player and he’s a quality player. ‘He’s been training well, as I said before, there’s no doubt about his quality either. So let’s see.
It's all good to be positive for the sake of it in the presses but at least he should try to keep his words consistent imo. 5 days ago he says he's a quality player and we don't have much options up front then comes now and says it didn't work for him and we have loads of options up front? Really?

This is exactly why Ole does what he does in the press conference.

He cannot go into a press conference saying I don't want Sanchez here, he doesn't fit into the system because you know what? If no team came for him and he had to stay, it would be a disaster. Can you imagine the press? Sanchez causing diving in United dressing room.

He is doing what is needed to keep the dressing room united. But we don't care about Sanchez, Lukaku who we do care is Pogba, Rashford, Martial - and Ole has been brilliant to come out and say pressure on you boys now. The Alexis of this world are no longer here, I trust you and this is your time to shine.

You would be more confident in him, if he spoke what you want to hear so you can criticise the club. Nothing more.

Yes never seen a manager doing that.
What?!

Was Fergie saying stuff like “Van Nistelrooy did great last week” and “Yeah, I’ve talked to Rooney about it”

This place has gone absolutely mental.

I think the fan base is permanently damaged isn't it? Even if we start winning titles we will find something to criticize instead of feeling satisfied. It's very sad.
Luckily the fans in the ground, a lot of whom have been there from the very start, continue to be fantastic, and don't drag us to the level of clubs like Madrid and Barcelona when there is a bit of adversity.

We'll get back to where we need to be, and suddenly the toxic ones will make out they were behind us all the way.

Get used to it, till we win the PL title again. Then it'll be, " he talks so much sense," " I love his pressers," " Brilliant answers to the questions."

I wish they'd feck off now!

Love basking in the reflected glory, then love putting the boot in when we're down.

Fickle? Not us, we're Man Utd!

What do you think he should have said? "He's a massive albatross around the club's neck and we want him out at all costs". That would have helped negotiations with Inter.

Positive in public, ruthless in private. He handles all of these difficult situations exceptionally well. It's too early to tell how successful Ole will be as United manager but, in handling the media, he's streets ahead of any United manager since Fergie.

This is a good idea, numbers are gender-neutral too, unlike male names, the ultimate construct of disgusting patriarchial society.

Its silly that so many of you are saying it's too much pressure on Mason when the kid seems to handle pressure fine so far. Effective managers know how to best motivate their players whether theyre 17 or 27. Best to hold our judgment and see how it plays out.

Anything that doesn't contradict what he said in the post Palace presser I guess? It was just 5 days ago, or maybe he should have chosen his words carefully in the post Palace presser? Either ways it looks completely funny how 2 quotes 5 days apart contradict each other to that degree.

Could have said "Alexis is a good player, but he wanted to leave and we received a good offer. We don't have much options up front but I trust the players we have and we can always depend on youngsters" see? Hardly contradicting what he said 5 days ago, and still "positive".

Managers lie all the time. No one believes that they’re telling the truth at these press conferences. Pep said Foden was the best talent he’d ever worked with. Ferguson said he wasn’t selling Veron. Klopp claimed he doesn’t have a five figure dentist’s bill annually. They are contractually obliged sessions that mean NOTHING.

He said exactly this line in the post Palace presser. Did you read the quotes I copied?
