Why did they send Gary in the first place. They support the same club, played together....Clueless romantic interviewed by a douche.

That's a half-truth. Negativity serves no purpose as long as all it does is dishearten people needlessly - but once reality has come crashing down into everyone's head and undeniably so even - then you need to get real. Still being in denial and appearing oblivious at this point when it's clear to everyone we're in a mess - does nothing but undermine Ole's credibility and turn people against both him and his project. Most people appreciate professionalism - but nobody enjoys being treated as idiots. The reports I've read all shift blame to Matt Judge for not getting the job done. Ole is always going to say that everything is alright in the media, since negativity serves no purpose.
Maybe it was what made him agree to come on the show in the first place. Getting out his own side of the story rather than getting grilled by a neutral interviewerWhy did they send Gary in the first place. They support the same club, played together....
tbf you've got two great men here. One destroyed Valencia while the other is destroying Manchester United. Put Souness in the equation and you've got the football management version of the three horsemen of the apocalypse.
Ideally, you would play a 4-3-3 but we have injuries and lack of depth..Do you believe this team can beat Liverpool?
Pereira, Fred and Rashford have all been lambasted hard by the fans for lacklustre performances recently.
What's the point of these interviews then, when he's going out outright giving false information? The reports I've read all shift blame to Matt Judge for not getting the job done. Ole is always going to say that everything is alright in the media, since negativity serves no purpose.
Ironically, he can't win - given our struggles, whatever he says would be deemed wrong. What's the point of these interviews then, when he's going out outright giving false information?
It was just Ole. To be fair even when he was still a caretaker manager, He'd always come across as a positive person. I would have been fine with it if the interviewer wasn't Garry Neville (Brian Farnet from Friern Barnet for example). But since it's his mate that interviewed him and They both seemed to be pointing towards the same thing a.k.a this wasn't a Q&A session, the interview looks pretentious and fake. What's the point of these interviews then, when he's going out outright giving false information?
Reminds me of when Soviet Central Television interviewed pretty much any high-ranking party official who'd gone and fecked up way back when - or when regime-friendly Russian TV stations interviews Putin these days for that matter. Total cringeIt was just Ole. To be fair even when he was still a caretaker manager, He'd always come across as a positive person. So it must be very bad, and as always in such situation, it only backfires...Maybe it was what made him agree to come on the show in the first place. Getting out his own side of the story rather than getting grilled by a neutral interviewer
that's hilarious and terrifyingReminds me of when Soviet Central Television interviewed pretty much any high-ranking party official who'd gone and fecked up way back when - or when regime-friendly Russian TV stations interviews Putin these days for that matter. Total cringe
Just wanted to write thatReminds me of when Soviet Central Television interviewed pretty much any high-ranking party official who'd gone and fecked up way back when - or when regime-friendly Russian TV stations interviews Putin these days for that matter. Total cringe
This might be my favourite comment I've seen since posting here.Hell...even United fans can't find the .net...

Gary also interviewed Jose, LvG etc. This is a series Sky do before big games. Why did they send Gary in the first place. They support the same club, played together....
You answered your own questionWhy did they send Gary in the first place. They support the same club, played together....

I also have a problem with that if I'm honest. What stuck with me most from that interview is the part where he solidifies that the manager, himself has the last say in any transfers at United. Which puts him in a predicament considering the thin, unbalanced squad he went in to the season with. Did he really think it was good enough for our top 4 goals? A majority of the fans saw that the squad was way too thin, he didn't?I don't think anyone's expecting to see patterns and the like, but this is his chance to reassure fans, who he obviously cares about, and give them a decent answer. I highly doubt the questions came as a surprise to him and it wouldn't have taken more than a minute to think what might go down better than 'we need more luck'.
Cheers, comradeThank you comrade that truly made my day
The reactions to this new interview are pretty appropriate. It's a very worrying sign. There's excuses and acceptance of not just a couple losses but horrible performances. We have got to apologise to the fans because they were absolutely fantastic... That performance is not good enough for a Manchester United team, from me to the players. We let the fans down. We let the club down. That performance is difficult to describe because it was so bad. They beat us on all the basics: long throw – put your head in, our corner, they counterattack and score, their corner, they score. We were beaten on all the ingredients you need, added to the talent. There is no place you can hide on the pitch. It was 85 minutes before we got a strike on target which is not good enough... One step at a time. I am going to be successful here and there are players who won’t be part of that.
Yeah but the point still came across beautifully don't worry. Also I'm not sure you'll find a picture of Woodward posing like that - is there any proof he can even lift his arms that high?Cheers, comradeStalinLupus!
Edit: Actually, I got it wrong - it should've been Ole who was 'shopped out of the photo.
Ole has turned into Ty.
Using youngsters out of their position was something Fergie did all the time. Smalling, Brown, Jones, they all were blooded at right back. Fletcher was shifted to the wing, Anderson was put in deep midfield to put in a shift, and let’s not mention O’Shea.I agree with most of what Solskjaer said.
The only stuff I didn't like hearing was about how Rashford can play every attacking position and then later he talked about Tuanzebe being able to play all defensive positions plus midfield.
It's blatantly obvious to me that Rashford really struggles when constantly moved from forward to left wing to forward to left wing again and we've harmed his development as a player by doing this for so many years. He needs to be given one spot in the team and kept there as much as possible and the same goes for Tuanzebe. Already against Newcastle we saw him having a good game at centre back and then suddenly he's shifted across to right back. Greenwood is a striker but Solskjaer has regularly used him as a right winger, Gomes is a #10 who has been used on the left. And look at Pereira, he was highly regarded as a youth player as an attacking midfielder but last season we wanted him to be a defensive midfielder and this season we want him to be our right winger. It feels like we go out of our way nowadays to make it as hard as possible for a youth player to master a position.
I remember when the class of 92 came through and they were all consistently (as in more than 90% of their games) played in their best positions. Giggs on the left, Beckham on the right, Scholes as an attacking midfielder, Neville at right back, Butt as a defensive midfielder. Phil Neville is the exception as he was asked to play both full back positions and defensive midfielder and the result was he never mastered any of them. If that same generation came through now I feel like Giggs would be asked to play as a striker, Beckham at full back, Scholes as a left winger etc, would they have ended up reaching the heights they did? It seems doubtful to me.
Obviously this is not to say that players should never be played out of position and that giving a young player some games in unfamiliar positions is always a bad thing. I don't think that. However I do think we go to far in seemingly trying to develop every player into a versatile jack of all trades. Am I alone in thinking this?
I agree that towards the end of his career Ferguson did go in a lot for playing players out of position. Not just young players though, he frequently bought more experienced players who had made a name for themselves in one position and used them in another. I'm thinking of guys like Hargreaves, Kagawa, Park, Smith etc.Using youngsters out of their position was something Fergie did all the time. Smalling, Brown, Jones, they all were blooded at right back. Fletcher was shifted to the wing, Anderson was put in deep midfield to put in a shift, and let’s not mention O’Shea.
To make it out as if Fergie would generally just let youngsters get experience in their preferred position doesn’t mesh at all with what I saw the last decade plus of his tenure.
Feck me Ole is clearly clueless...he talks about it as if this was a couple of matches problem...it has been for 10 freaking games FFS.I really don't like this part:
Anyone who thinks Ole actually has a plan to fix our goalscoring woes other than "get Martial fit and hope we have a bit more luck" is going to be severely disappointed.
Isnt 10 months and two windows a fair chance?I agree. We all knew this was going to be a very tough task for any manager and for people to say he is out of his depth without giving him a fair chance is bad. I feel for him really, and he should be given another 2 windows to prove himself. Then if there isn't a huge improvement, he will be moved out.
Don't think He has more tactical plans than to press high, win the ball and counter fast. He's not going to come out in great detail and elaborate in regards to his tactical plans is he?
I've never heard a top flight manager do that - they just give the same old soundbites year on year.
And Jose was a ticking time bomb. Never know who he'll throw under the bus next. What is peoples problem with a positive manager?Ole's is so positive. You'll think he's one game away from leading the team to a treble win.
I tend to agree but we don't have enough creativity in the squad to do much else at the moment though. Whoever is responsible for that is another debate.Don't think He has more tactical plans than to press high, win the ball and counter fast.
When the opponent sits deep, the players don't know what to do. Back to Van Gaal era but with less sideways passing.
I'd rather he throw players under the bus instead of coddling them with petnames. And Jose was a ticking time bomb. Never know who he'll throw under the bus next. What is peoples problem with a positive manager?
... And he scored 8.Was their second top scorer that season
Indeed which says more about that team than him. Given he was their second top scorer and has always scores loads anywhere else... And he scored 8.
In the Championship and 2 months in the Prem? Amr Zaki and Geovanni had similar fast starts, and Michael Ricketts and Marcus Stewart have been one season wonders.Indeed which says more about that team than him. Given he was their second top scorer and has always scores loads anywhere else
That's precisely the point. Positive spin on Ole and the club. IMO a manager on the brink doesn't do cosey interviews. Why did they send Gary in the first place. They support the same club, played together....
Why would you make any claims about how Ole sees fit to blood youngsters when our squad is so hobbled right now? Makes as much sense as claiming Ole is omitting Pogba by choice.I agree that towards the end of his career Ferguson did go in a lot for playing players out of position. Not just young players though, he frequently bought more experienced players who had made a name for themselves in one position and used them in another. I'm thinking of guys like Hargreaves, Kagawa, Park, Smith etc.
However I maintain that if you compare the amount of games that our young players now are expected to play out of position in comparison to our most successful young players (the class of 92 era) it's far, far higher and I don't think it's helping them.
Both types look pretty foolish to me. Mou was at least able to win a trophy for us. Ole might win the championship next season thoughAnd Jose was a ticking time bomb. Never know who he'll throw under the bus next. What is peoples problem with a positive manager?
