He does look shattered. The nice shot which hit the post shows his talent is lurking, but for it to fade so fast due to one injury is frightening.
You talk like he has been an excellent player in the past. He is 27 this year and had one good month total as a United player. If you still have hope for him then I don't know what to say.

I wonder if Gomes could do any worse than him. All he brings to the team right now is experience, maybe he can draw in some tactical fouls in tight areas but that's just it there is absolutely no consistency with him.

Lingard is a footballer who played in a football match tonight.

Thats as positive as i can get about this performance.

I said it in the summer and I'll say it again...no where near good enough to be playing for Manchester United. I'd rather bring Ryan Giggs out of retirement than see this guy fail to control a football again. Also, he's 26! He's just not good enough and never will be. Sell him for whatever we can get in the summer.

He's never been good enough, absolute fraud of a player.
27 in December.
The depths of how poor we are.

Its amazing how has he managed to stay on the team for this long, surely has something to do with him being homegrown and english? I cant remember any player being so shit for so long and keep getting minutes.

He should be in his prime now but I don’t see what he offers that one of the younger academy players don’t.

Games like tonight he should be the senior pro and dominating.

Fair enough he's only just back from injury but his touch was never as bad before this season.

Maybe Ed has a secret plan: sign Lingard to a new contract, and then roll out MUFC brand toilet paper with JLingz on every sheet. You gotta say, it would be a brilliant financial masterstroke from Ed.

When I see Ole insisting with Lingard, it really creates major doubts about Ole being the right manager for MUFC.

He's performing at a much lower level than Sanchez was for us

If I was a bottom half of the table premier league manager I dont think I'd select him for my team

We’re a bottom half team and yeah, he shouldn’t be getting game time.

Imagine having watched a prime Ryan Giggs flying on the pitch with immaculate touches on full sprint, and then watching Lingard.

United, the old boys club where getting on with the boss & where the craic in training is more important than talent:
The Red Devils manager told MUTV: “It’s fantastic to have him back fit. He’s been so lively and bubbly in training. I don’t know how much game time we’ll give him but he looks like he needs to catch up on lost time. It’s been fantastic to see him with a big smile. I know Jesse from before. Of course now we expect him – and I think he expects – to kick on.”

We should do what Arsenal did with Iwobi and flog him to Everton at the earliest opportunity. Though I doubt they'd be interested. What's the best team in the prem that could take him? Bournemouth?

In a game full of rubbish moments his worse offence had to be Jones giving him stick and asking for him to run in to space when Jones was on free kick duty. Lingard turned and told him what looked like to pass to Bissaka and then pointed at someone else but didn’t offer himself.

So Jones plays the ball, it works it’s way back to behind where Jones was, then its passed back to Jones who was still standing where the free was taken from. He then tries a hopeless dink forward to try and get it to Lingard who was stood still.

Absolute pointless passage of play and something that happens way too often and Lingard was at the heart of it as he so often is.

I think he is rubbish and the wrong stuff but is it not a lack of options? Surely the entire management squad aren’t that blind? We are talking about highly qualified coaches and very experienced players......

Solsjkaer judges Lingard off his craic in the dressing room over what he does on the pitch, Ole's wrapped around his finger. No surprises there.

We had Rashford and Greenwood available but Lingard somehow ends up as striker, that isn't down to a lack of options. Solsjkaers insistence with Lingard and Mata will be the end of him.

Yeah but were talking about europa league tonight which win or lose tonight isn’t the end of the world still 3 games left and no one gives a flying feck how you got through, I was surprised rashford came on as I think he’s desperately in need of a rest. Mata well it’s europa who gives a feck at the end of the day.

We really play our worst football with Lingard on the pitch. He is so bad that at times I am sure we would be better off playing with 10 men instead of having him on the pitch. So as long as there are other players on the bench I am unconvinced Ole has to play Lingard due to lack of options.

Like I said I think it has to do with the fact that he’s english and homegrown and “he gets the club” to fill Ole’s narrative. But he’s useless and has been for 10 months now.

Other than Gomes intentionally scoring own goals I think it would be hard for him to be any worse.

An attacking player for Man Utd has scored one goal in 10 months and has one assist, and that assist was a 5 yard sideways pass outside the area against Rochdale.

It's astonishing.

As if you sat there with a notepad monitoring the times he made mistakes. Get a life.
I do whenever I can, it's actually a good way to get entertainment out of our matches, makes it more bearable. And this is the thread about his performances, that's the only thing he makes, every game, mistakes. Don't know why you're butthurt.

Wasnt he also one of Ole's players when he was in the reserves? Teacher's pet

Its certainly not all on him.

But it is because of having several players like him and picking them.

Lingard, Mata, Rojo, Matic - players who have now shown for years they cant perform to a decent level. And then we have Fred who has joined them. He's had a little less time but nothing suggests he's going to break out of that company any time soon. So he looks another lost cause
