If Mata starts I’m not f***ing watching. Genuinely painful to watch this guy lumber around thinking of another 2/3 years of it.

He needs to do a Xavi & go teach football to the masses.

    Team should be...

    --------------Romero--------------
    ---Lindelof----Jones----Rojo---
    AWB--Garner--Mata--Fred--Williams
    --------Lingard-----Martial--------

Subs: Grant, Young, Maguire, McTominay, Andreas, James, Rashford

Strange decision to have Greenwood play tonight, basically gone for the Partizan XI but with Fred and Lindelof instead of McTominay and Maguire

The club will miss your fanatical support I’m sure.

It's sad to still see him bambying around for us after Chelsea jettisoned him some 5 years ago.

I think we've got to focus the bulk of our efforts on improving our league form

I dont believe we're good enough to win trophies, not at a time where City take the domestic cups so seriously so while the XI I picked isn't great rotation is needed to keep players fresh for Saturday and Bournemouth in the league

Hopefully Chelsea pick an even weaker XI though and we get a result

We should build up some momentum, it's been a stop-start season and we finally played a good game. The team should be the same, build on that, except for a deserved change at left back.

The fixation on constant rotation at this club is one factor in how we look as an offensive team. Lack of cohesion, lack of chemistry. Constant changes in personnel and tactics are a luxury we can't afford now.

Can see us going at this almost full strength, but I hope not with Bournemouth in the league the more important fixture at the weekend. I'd quite like us to go three at the back, but I reckon both Lingard and Mata would start for a very similar team to the one that beat Partizan away (without a shot on target in open play).

    Romero
    Jones Maguire Rojo
    Wan-Bissaka McTominay Garner Williams
    Mata Lingard
    Martial
    ---
Grant; Lindelof, Young; Fred, Andreas, James; Rashford

Predicting this, can see him using a back 3 again tonight. He'll worry about their attack. I think he'll go with a strong line up though. With the pressure on him he'll want a big result and a chance at a cup. Can see him using our best front 3 for sure.

    Romero

    Jones Maguire Rojo

    AWB Garner Fred Williams

    James Martial Rashford

    Subs: Lingard Mata Pereira

How good of a squad is Chelsea going to field? I would imagine Lampard is creaming himself for revenge and would field and strong, very close to first team 11.

Ole probably anticipates that and will field a strong 11 so he doesn't get smashed 4/5-0 ? I expect martial rashford etc to play

Think the word you are looking for is 'moot', but do carry on.
Playing grammar nazi on a forum always works well.

You’re right on one thing though, the 4 letter word I was thinking of definitely ends in ‘t’.

Your one liner fell flat, move on.

I expect their front 3 will be Pedro, Giroud, Hudson-Odoi

You'd expect Reece James in there also. Apart from that i'd expect them at full strength apart from maybe the keeper.

Really looking forward to this. Romero is arguably in better form than DDG and otherwise we can play our strongest team to allow key partnerships to gel. Time to start stringing together positive results and performances.

Why do people keep saying stuff like this when there hasn't been any indication of us being smashable. We might suck at creating and scoring goals but defensively we have been very solid. We've already played the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester etc and they all struggled to score against us.

People ought to stop these talks of being smashed.

    Precisely.

Our defence is not the problem. Far from it. It’s our midfield and attack that is causing major issues. As you said it is creating chances and scoring goals which has been our major downfall so far this season.

Someone is helping you learn the word you want to use but don't know how to and this is how you treat them?

Keep on saying mute instead of moot then. Nobody will hear you though.
