No AWB is THAT awful going forward and with ball to feet. He looks clumsy, always seemingly about to trip and it's quite ugly to watch. But he at least he can defend so for now he'll make do and it's alright if at least there was some sort of threat on the other side. Unfortunately you have Shaw that side who is downright pathetic both going forward and defending. Poor positioning, always backing away from his winger and letting them cross or run at him(and they usually beat him). He's just awful.
The few times AWB got forward today, he looked good. Some very good crosses, good passing in tight space, and looked good at creating that yard of space to deliver, like Valencia used to do.

He just doesn't seem t have the confidence to do it all the time, he certainly looks to have the ability.

Shaw is definitely a bigger problem right now but I think eventually people will see what I see with AWB also. Fantastic tackler isn't enough. He can't play football. That amazing assist the other day is definitely not going to be the norm from him. He looks so poor on the ball.

As for Shaw.....where do you start? Not defending well. Not attacking well. Still has tits and an arse like a Kardashian. He needs to be sold in the summer. He's a waster.

@GifLord Can you please post the passing sequence that led to Arsenal gaining the corner for their 2nd goal, specially when Ozil made a pass over the top to their RB, I wanna see Shaw's position

We don’t need him to have the ball and dribble at people, but weirdly that’s what our tactics seem to be. He needs to be able to make runs behind and cross, which he does seem to be getting better at. Especially considering he’s played one season at an ultra defensive team.

Shaw on the other hand can barely defend properly. He seems to be regressing even further.

Matic also doesn't track his runner at all. That's the guy who gets through. Shaw is tight on someone out wide at that point. Don't know if it's the right call, just pointing it out.

To the original question is Brandon Williams better than Luke Shaw, at the moment Yes, Shaw before his injury may have been but at the moment yes

For those who love stats:

But stats and numbers aside, just watching the games you can see Williams has ton of potential, where Luke basically has exhausted all benefits of doubt anybody has put in him for years. He's done and should be gone.

As far as I am concerned, I would like to see Williams start every game, even knowing that he's young and will make mistakes. He's better now and has promise to be much better. Shaw is a disaster.

I don't want to agree but I tend to agree haha . Shaw is a complete waste of space but we all knew that for quite a few years . AWB is a strange one . His defending is unreal but he really struggled going forward and apparently he was originally a winger in his early days . I will give him the benefit of the doubt and also pray he gets better going forward but I fear you might be right

He just offers way more than Shaw currently does, it's a no brainer. You're going to get mistakes from him, he's young and raw, but the positives totally outweigh the negatives for me.

I was thinking the same
Is a bit crazy. If I was wolves I’d be disappointed that they never gave Traore the ball more. Left him for dead in the first mi ute if it wasn’t for a poor pass. Docherty gave him a pretty good doing over as well. I do think Matic however played pretty well getting across. James as well, good few times when it did actually eventually get to Traore we had good numbers there to help protect the threat.

Hope, We Lose
Got beat every time they went 1 on 1. Is that doing well now?
Nope. Also got away with losing his man when Doherty headed the ball into his own hand and into the net.

Having said that, its not the end of the world for a young fullback to make a mistake that Shaw or one of our CBs make now and then

Maguire had to tackle Adama twice in the first half because everyone else was scared to challenge him when he came inside.

I said it before. He is really overrated here just because he is young and come from tha academy. The new Bardsley (hope I'm wrong).
He was awful imo.

Not great as some people are making him but making progress. He was at fault when wolves has a goal disallowed.
Works in progress

He's a young attacking fullback who's told to be a defensive fullback because his senior CBs couldn't handle Wolves attack by themselves. I'm not sure how the logic people judging him.

You can see when he went forward a few times, he easily threatened Wolves defence.

I didn't think he did. He was backing off of him too much and allowing him to cross it. He looked a bit afraid of his pace and power...
Seen enough of him to know that he's not defensively better than Shaw at this stage

Lad was good again. From keeping up with Traore to offering an attacking threat down the left. Really happy for him. I hope Ole rewards him with more starts then Shaw.
