There were numerous stories last summer that we operate exactly in that way. It came out we were working on AWB before moving onto Maguire etc. We are the only club in football who can’t do deals in parallel.
Indeed. It's also more-or-less impossible to sign more than three players in any given window, according to our genius CEO.

Where were these stories? Pretty sure Maguire and AWB dragged on simultaneously

£30M on unknown British talent, but not £50M on Bruno?

That's United!
I'd say a lot of that is add-ons. He'll probably have to win the Balon D'Or, CL, PL and get a knighthood for them to see £30m.

We probably will end up paying £50m on Bruno but this story really won't help their negotiations with Sporting.

It’s fan hysteria. They just assume because we don’t announce players at the same time we aren’t negotiating at the same time. Somehow it’s become a “fact”

We could sign Fernandes, Soumare, Dembele and Bellingham and it would be an amazing window.

We could sign no one and be a disaster of a window.

We could pull a transfer out of the bag that no one saw coming.

Doing transfer deals is so complex these days, nothing is a sure thing.

We are linked so often with 99% of stories false so its all guess work.

He is right, but I would say it is the fees here that are seriously over inflated. It is a bit of a difference paying for a full Portuguese international (European Champions) against a kid who cannot always get in the Newcastle team.
It's not like we signed either. Newcastle stated their price, we said no.

'stories' came out. I want Woodward gone as much as anyone, but be careful what you believe from the journos.

It is awkward. What exactly are they expecting to pay? I would love to know.
wrt Longstaff, the leaks from our side early in the summer suggested we wanted to pay 25/30 million. Bruno seems to be 55m. Newcastle wanted 50 and Sporting want 70+ or something. So far we've said no to both.

Should be interesting if we get to a Grealish/Maddison. We could say neither are established internationals to their relative clubs.

To be fair, Maguire was Premier League-tested. Bruno only has a couple of good seasons in a low quality league to his name. Who knows how (or if) he'll adapt to the greater demands of English football.

I would be shocked if Leicester wanted less than 100m. Villa, I'm not sure. If they get relegated, maybe cheaper. Do you know anything about their owners? They spent a lot this year to stay up.

Aston Villa F.C. Aston Villa F.C. It is owned by both Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens who are Egyptian and American businessmen who own NSWE Group, as well as being part owned by Tony Xia a Chinese businessman who also owns a company called Recon Group.

He starts to sound a bit like a mouthpiece for Woodward and the Glazers.

Starts? That's basically what he is.

Remember in the summer, when he gave a rough figure of incomings (what he wanted/expected) and a few days later, he then gave a lower figure?

He is told not to rock the boat if he wants to keep his dream job. He will continue to string the fans along, lower expectations, then defend the board and say they've had his back all along.

It's crystal clear now. He keeps the job, no matter what, in exchange for public backing of Woodward and Glazers. Great situation really. He won't throw the players or the owners and their nincompoop monkey under the bus. And the fans won't throw him under the bus. How long will this continue?

Most managers are a mouthpiece for their bosses tbf. Not many like Mourinho around who like to rock the boat. I wouldn't read much into what he says about Woodward and co. It might not be how he really feels.
