It bothers me more than it should that our most reliable twitter journo (Stone) doesn't have a blue verified tick on twitter.
I'm surprised and very happy that we are getting Bruno, just what we need. This nr.10 position has been neglected for a while now.

Those are my feelings on this matter.

Not a chance this will happen

And if it happen a 55 million for him are worse than 80 for Maguire

Even if he is a 10% upgrade on Andreas, which I think he is we will simply have a better team on the pitch.

He also brings in a killer free kick ability and a out of the box shooting ability which will be a much welcomed addition to the squad.

The most important thing which I think Bruno will bring is the leadership. He has been sporting's captain and you can see how passionate he is on the field. He also helped sporting during their tough times which tells a lot about his personality.

I am very excited about Bruno. He will be a superb addition and a crowd favorite.

I do. But that's not what we've done.

I don't see the merits in spending a month haggling an asking price of €80m down to €80m, which is what we've done. The figure's always been €80m and that's what the agreed fee is, if you believe the reports. So in that context, I don't see the point in not buying him two weeks earlier which means he can contribute to the team during a hectic period when our squad is threadbare.

Do you have any reliable sources claiming a €100m asking price or are you just going to peddle the 20% thing over and over again?
So, just to clarify, you're expecting us to win the CL and him to win the Ballon D'or? Solid argument you've got yourself there...

Have only watched a couple of games but I don't think he's anything special. Not sure how I feel about this.

Why are people saying we agreed to what they initially wanted?

The chances of the fee rising to €80m are very slim due to the qualifying conditions. If they are met, then that would be a major plus to United as he would have fulfilled his bonus targets, thus helping us achieve success! They wanted €80m outright going by reports so no, we haven't paid what they wanted all along. We have negotiated a deal that is more favourable to us. We won't be paying €80m unless the bonus's that we negotiated are met. How is that so hard for you to understand? We now have the favourable terms due to "negotiating."

Some people on this forum only want to see the negatives! It looks like he will be our player now so go and cry about something else on another thread!
there are legitimate arguments to make for pointing fingers at the management of the club, but people here just want to point fingers at and moan about everything the club does. So its easy for them to ignore everything to just moan.

They were ok selling him because they had reportedly promised that they'd allow him to leave last summer and had to pay him and his agent a certain amount when it didn't come to fruition.

He's the one who's been desperate to move on for some windows now,not the other way and it's more than understandable. Sporting have been a shitshow on and off the pitch the last 2 years.
Yeah, i'm not really concerned about the why. It's more to do with the fact that they were happy to part ways (for whatever reason), which obviously puts us in a strong position. I'm just happy we stuck to our guns and didn't pay the initial asking price.

As i said, this isn't always going to be possible, but it's good to see nonetheless.

If he's half as good as he is for Sporting then I'll be more than happy.

I would pay three times as much if that were guaranteed to happen

Yeah it’s clearly not the same amount, it’s just a way of the selling club to palm their angry fans off by falsely inflating the ‘overall sale price’

Cautiously optimistic!

Squad stuff: If Pogba does indeed leave we really only have Fred as a starter and a useful backup in McTominay, then Rashford as a starting LW and James should be the backup winger on both sides, so we need 3-4 starting midfielders and this would appear to be the first of them.

Rashford-(Martial)------RW (Greenwood, James)
-------------CM------Fernandes------------- (McTominay)
-------------------Fred------------------------------- (DM)
LB
-----Maguire-Lindelof----WanBissaka (Williams, Shaw, Dalot)
-----------------De Gea----------------------------- (Romero)

a squad is basically 18-20 players up to it, we're obviously still 4-5 short but this is one down.

The player himself:
My guess is he'll be a bit of a Match of the day/highlights player in general but particularly at first, like people use to say about Gamst Pedersen or a player like Eriksen when he's not at top, top form. His shooting and crossing appear to be that good, and he's the right age and experience that he's probably in his peak. Not sure how he'll hold up athletically in the Prem. Might be another player whose strengths don't necessarily suit Martial in that he can cross and play balls in behind more than link up with dribbling and speed through the midfield.

He's definitely better than Lingard and Pereira so obviously an upgrade and if Pogba does leave it will take 2 players to replace his creativity and this could be one.

Tactically, we could also play 2 up front easier now if we want with say James and Bruno as wider mids who can be trusted to track back a bit and 2 of Rashford/Martial/Greenwood up top.

Agree with this, The self loathing in this place is pretty intense.

So it’s happening, but will he really make an once of difference under Ole? Seems to me he’s Pogba’s replacement anyway.
I think that's the case but the way I see it we did good bringing him in, if he comes, this window so that in the summer we can focus on Matic's replacement and a forward or two. Even without Pogba having Bruno, Fred and a very good DM will be a massive improvement on the team we currently have.

It`s like you read my mind and wrote it here on the Caf mate!

We are in dire need of players with leadership abilities!

We definately need someone who can score on free kicks more often and he has a good stat on penalties aswell. His calmness on the ball and creativity with through balls and crosses are much needed.

He works hard also so if he puts in the numbers with more goals/assists for the team and work hard also he will fit nicely in premier League.

Really hope this happens, but like i have said on other transfers, why did it not happen sooner!

It’s been made pretty clear by various sources that Maddison or Graelish is Pogbas replacement regardless of Bruno’s arrival.

Ofcourse, you never know with Ed.

Are we allowed to agree to sign players outside of the window?

Wut? You do know McTominay is pretty much 1st name on the team sheet when fit? Hes been brilliant this season and we havent looked the best in midfield without him.

Either Sporting faked the Barca news to force us into upping our offer or United faked the Barca thing so they can claim that we beat Barca to the signing like they do with City.
