FFS I've said that it's an amazing win for Ole.

But you can't have 28% possession at OT and say it's been anything other than a smash and grab.

To me, it's cowardly football. You can't have a Citeh side without De Bruyne having %72 possession at OT - it's laughable.
28 % ball possesion because citeh was chasing. Look at chances on and off target. That’s what you should be looking at and caring about. Go watch Lvg’s tenure again if you want possession. Miserable fecks

Square passes in their own half between their own back line for most of it.
You’d think after having Van Gaal here was enough to turn people off from that shit forever
That's exactly what they looked like. First 20 minutes they attacked hard and dominated us, then we countered and scored and they looked shell shocked and turned into an LVG side.

Would we have preferred to steamroll them by playing exciting, attacking football - sure.
But I'd rather take a win above that, especially under the current circumstances, where there is still a lot on the line for us and they have the stronger team.

It was a good tactical performance and I actually found myself getting really impressed with our defensive shape and organisation. The one time we looked to be slipping (Mahrez tearing Williams apart), Solsjkaer identified the problem and fixed it. Excellent tactical plan and excellent substitutions. Solskjaer has to take a lot of credit for today.

Yes, that's clearly what I've said isn't it?

Clever lad indeed.
It’s implicated in your attitude and assessment of the game.

City are the best possession team in world football. We have great players for counter attacking football. We played to our strengths because our manager is pragmatic and sensible. We also created lots of chances and should have scored more.

Do you even know the meaning of smash and grab? We had more shots and on target than them. They did nothing with the possession. Would you rather we pass it around the back to get the figure higher?

Your assessment of the football game is showing how clueless you are. It's not coward football if we have more shots and scored 2 goals.

We have more shots (12 vs 7)
More shots on target (6 vs 4)

The main reason why City has more possession because they are just playing more side ways and across the back than us, while we are playing direct and more effective than them. You want us to play side ways and across the back again? Bring back LVG? There is a limit where a poster can just talk nonsense, but this one is beyond me, judging the game based on possession. Madness!!

Some people should be ashamed of themselves for some of the things they said, irrespective of our results. Good thing for the ignore function as i wouldn't have been able to stand reading the rubbish coming from a select few.
They are all well known.

And they should not be allowed to enjoy wins like today. Because they are not 'supporters', they certainly didn't support our manager when he needed it.

Completely agree. They were scared to give the ball away and reverted to Van Gaal type football in an attempt to try and control the game.

We were so compact and good at the back that in the end they were too scared to play it forward In case they lost the ball.

And people say we play shithouse football. Imagine passing the ball between your defenders for 70 minutes because you’re scared of giving it away?

It’s Mourinho football. But we Need top 4. So I don’t care but don’t tell me this is the man to lead us into next season.
Well, when Ole plays with back 5, he gets results. When Jose did it, we lost anyway badly.

So, no, not the same.

People really should start respecting Ole a lot more! The guy has beaten the best sides and the best managers in the world with a squad that is in transition at best. And here he is beating some of the most 'polished' sides in England and Europe.
Becomes the 2nd manager ever to do the league double over Pep. Surely, he has done enough for people to stop questioning his every move and step

The longer this unbeaten run goes on and the closer we get to the CL the harder it is for people to keep saying Solskjaer is a bad manager without having a clear agenda

Full credit Ole today, didn’t go toe to toe with City but a brilliant performance regardless. I don’t agree with what Neville said about us not having the most talented team though, we have some top top players currently and in the rise, no mistake about it.

Foundations have been laid. Changed the culture, made some solid signings. Good on him. I hope he gets another window or two. With Pogba and Rashford still to come in to this side, things are looking up for the end of the season.

Loved how the guys celebrated the second goal. You can tell it means everything to the group. So Ole has won his first battle there.

It's a bit of a stretch considering how late in the season we are but could we catch 3rd?

Don't know how people can fault that performance today. But the other extreme is people already gloating 'I told you so! I was able to see everything come to this!'. Erm, no. Calm down, we're on a good little run but there's a lot more to do yet. We've been around this roundabout a million times ffs.

Yeah but he relegated Cardiff so he’s obviously the worst manager to grace the game

Obertans #1 fan.
If you look through that squad now at the players who were here before Ole.
who do you think he has helped improve in his time here?

I’d suggest the following Fred, Shaw, Martial, Rashford, Matic, McTominay
Lindelof, Bailly as well.

basically every player in our squad bar de Gea and Lingard.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...

Again, it's a great win, as I've said more times now than any of the 'Ole In' lot (funny that)...

But, for me, against a flat City side, 28% possession at home is a poor stat when looking at the bigger picture.

We scored from a set piece that was questionable - another day it's drab 0-0.

The reason why the 28% possession is noteworthy is because it's that fact that's seen why this Utd side can't finish off crapper teams so many times.

Counter attacking footy with quality players will get you a handful of 'big wins' every season, but you won't be winning the big prizes with footy like that. And to me, that's Ole's biggest problem as a coach now.

Another sad day for the Ole out crew.
I’m for the most part an Ole out and I’ve given him my full praise for today and hope he continues marching on. Past Spurs and Leicester on the final day, we’ve a great run coming up.

It reminders me when Klopp joined pool, they where still trash-is first 2 years, he needed time.
While I've wanted him to go earlier, he has definitely won me over. Haven't been vocal about it as others, but he definitely deserves the respect and time to build his legacy as a manager after he has done it as a player for us.

Good result, average performance but footballs a results business, the ethos of how the team plays is something that's worth a mention when we are in a position to have that as a primary concern but we need consistency. Couldn't care at this point if we won our next 8 games with 15% possession we need European football at a minimum to build for next season.

Personally I'm still in the same boat, if we get top four or a Europa League win Solskjaer deserves to stay. If not I don't see any circumstances in his favour, this is quite easily the most basic season post SAF for any manager to have the opportunity at a fourth spot. We need to keep marching ahead. Excellent win.

Well, for all those talk about no other team hiring him and wanting him, I for sure wouldn't trade Jose for Ole.

So, that's one.

Not sure if you’ve watched other games but we have more possession when tactics suit that particular game.
It was perfect tactics today, not sure what you want, just more passes?

So if they don't think the current manager is up to it, they "should not be allowed to enjoy wins like this". Don't be silly. Not thinking that a manager whose main achievements were in the Norwegian league is up to rebuilding United isn't having "an agenda" as some here suggest, it's a perfectly reasonable position.

The main argument has always been Ole is underperforming and that he can do better with this squad but the Ole In said not much can be done when you have players like Lingard and Pereira and the injuries we've had. Now some players are back from injury and we've replaced Lingard and Pereira with Bruno and for the first time this season we're consistent and making progress. Not just that but I'm personally going into most games confident we can win.

I'm still Ole out until the season ends but it's impossible not to be happy with this current progress. That's why I get upset when some people think Ole outers want us to lose because we want Ole out. Ole is making me happy right now and I wouldn't want him sacked if he keeps doing so or gives me hope again

Why are fans failing to see that we have a half baked squad. We still manage to defeat Pep thrice, do a double over Chelsea. Imagine when Ole actually gets backed by the owners to get the players he wants in Summer!

Believe.

It was easy to slag the manager for alot of this season but us match going fans have always supported our manager because even when things have been bad we can see something happening that wasn't there under Moyes LVG and even Mourinho.
Ole might not be the manager in a year or Two's time but as a rebuilding job he is doing a super job .

So if you have been on here slagging him all season then grow a pair and man up and give praise when it's deserved.
He has got Shaw playing the best football I've seen from him . Matic is flying as is Martial and Ole deserves great credit for this .
