I'm with Tarrou on this. Plenty of people in real life go for jobs that pay less but make them happier. It's rare in football because the whole business is so money-oriented already, and because the sums in question are so massive. But in Griezmann and Ighalo you've already got two examples of players who took paycuts to go to certain clubs, and I'm sure if we asked the caf we could come up with a whole raft more.

Yeah it's not unheard of at all. I took a pay-cut myself (more than 3x what I used to earn) a few years ago to do what really I wanted to do in my life. Oghalo is loving life right now I'm sure.

Griezmann stands to earn more than he did if you take into account bonuses via league and CL wins (plus he’s already rich).
and more to the point you can’t compare a football career to a normal career. Not only is it far shorter but one bad injury and you’re done for life. This is why footballers don’t willingly take half salaries to play for their childhood clubs because of some stupid love. It’s a career to them. Which is why any fan on a message board’s opinion on what they would do in a similar situation means feck all.
You have a good example in Pogba who is settled and came to United because he loves the club, not because of the money. All tough he did negotiate well to get the most money possibly out of it, and he isn't exactly happy either. Well, I guess that's neither here or there, but Sancho wouldn't come here for only one thing. He can pick between any club he wants and Dortmund will probably honour his wish.

Yes, but that job is a job you should hold onto barring employer's whim. A player has to make as much money for his family because they won't work as professional footballers past their 30s. His job is something he really wants to do in life, playing professional at the top level. So it's not an exact comparison.
His passing is what is so impressive for me. Not just a speedster, I think for a winger his passing ability is up there with the best I've seen.
Either of those situations where we needed a pullback today, he would get it to Bruno. Just a very productive player in those positions.
He's a playmaking wide forward who at 20 years old makes the right decisions which is fantastic to see.

Barcelona had to shop around for a loan to pay Griezmann’s release clause however.
Obviously they recouped a huge amount once they sold Griezmann but it was initially a bank loan.

No. I'd rather Sancho. Neymar is a great player but he is much worse than Pogba when it comes to the drama, and his best position is where Rashford's best is... so nah.

My gut feeling is that we are going to miss out on either him or Grealish this summer, the main reason I feel this is because of the Bellingham stuff picking up again yesterday which suggests we are obviously very keen on him and want to roll out the red carpet.
Bellingham is a very young talent plying his trade in the Championship. Sancho is one of the world's best wingers. I don't think there's any correlation between the two. Sancho has to be the one we have to go all out for, if any.
Don't see how potentially signing a young midfielder is going to stop us from signing one of the best players in the world, who plays in a completely different position, a position we desperately need to strengthen in.
