The have to suspend or cancel the competition indefinitely .
Liverpool aside, this is an awful situation. I for one didn't think it would get this bad few weeks back, to the point where literally every sport is being cancelled/suspended.

Honestly this is just a little bit ignorant. Why does the Premier League think it's any different?
We saw with both Serie A and the NBA, the minute one player gets it, that really is it. There is no way of knowing how many people he has come into contact with, whole teams have to be quarantined... why is it that big corporations just think they're immune to this?

Feels like the last 24 hours have escalated to the point that more people are taking things seriously now at least.

My dad has been very blase about it up until today, think he realises how critical things are getting.

There’s no way they’ll take the title away from Liverpool. They’ll play games behind closed doors long enough for them to wrap it up, then cancel it. It would be absolutely hilarious if the season was written off, but it would cause massive outrage to deny them the title.
Everton, Man City, & other sides should just refuse to play citing health issues. Nothing PL could do, & wouldn't want a massive lawsuit if a player gets virus due to their inaction. Stuff Liverpool. Be nice to see Klopp jumping up & down in rage.

The earliest Liverpool could lift the trophy is in 9 days time on the 21st. That ain't happening.

If they suspend EPL now, who will qualify for next year champions league?
The reasonable thing would be the current top 5 (without City) and also not declaring a winner because the season wasn't actually completed.

I couldn't care less if they cancelled the league and declared it null and void meaning another season in EL.

It would be worth it so Liverpool don't win the league please let it happen it would be the funniest thing ever.

Their victim mentality would reach new levels make it happen I think we should start a petition you know in the interests of public safety and all that the season must be cancelled!

Premier league team being tested for Covid, three first team players displaying symptoms (Talksport).

Could be Arsenal given Olympiakos game a few weeks ago but only speculation on my part.

Premier league matches will be cancelled this week and for foreseeable future.

How will if affect our transfer plans though? That's my only worry.
Of course it will, we'll be less desirable to world class talents for sure. But everything comes with a price, nothing is perfect so I'd be more than happy still

Imagine the reaction from them if this comes true

Yep. No more Premier League 19/20.

Those players will have played last week. All the opposing players will need to quarantine. So, too, the officials. This is it, folks.

Apparently if Europa is cancelled, it goes to the highest ranked team left in the competition, which is us...

Playing all games behind close doors isn't the way forward and can't be the answer. I say this because it gives an unfair advantage to City who are used to playing in front of no fans.

We will have to watch virtual football online while we self isolate or just go back 20 odd years and watch re-runs of League 1998-99.

Surely if the PL is called off, it should also then be awarded to the team with most league titles?

Sorry I don't really get what you mean. You mean we would win the EL if it got cancelled ?

Even if you get to a point where you get the three teams mathematically relegated, with Liverpool mathematically Champions at 31 games played, those last 7 games could mean an extra £10m to a team finishing 7th instead of 15th if they had the chance to play out the season, it would open the league up to all sorts of lawsuits.

Season should be void.
Voiding the season would still open up to lawsuits, the teams doing well wouldnt like it.

Lawsuits for what? Enforcing the rules the league sets? I'm sure every club has to agree to the rules to be able to take part in the competition in the first place.

Christ...
Have you not read anything in this thread and just came here to spew your ignorant rant that "boo hoo" your trip was a total waste. People are fecking dying!!! and you worried that you missed out on tourist attractions. Bore off.
I'm glad you not getting a refund so you get to feel a TINY fraction of the loss others are feeling having their loved ones taken because of this virus.

Bad version of the flu my arse.
I’m the ignorant one? There is literally a few thousand people that have contracted the virus in world with billions of people. Too many people like yourself just read the news and get in a panic. You cannot stop a virus spreading. All tourist sites are closed yet all bars and restaurants are still open, so what happens? All the tourist congregate in the same place anyway. The logic is plain stupid.
