I just don't understand why it hasn't been suspended.

It's not going away, players have it and fans have it. It will be suspended after this round of fixtures at any rate, or after the next one. It's just delaying for no reason and risking exposing more people to it and spreading it more widely. I'm honestly baffled.

Where is this rule of giving it to the highest ranking side? Sounds more like a desperate hope of one of us than a rule.
Is that official?
No no it's not official. I said "if". They can keep it vacant or they can award it to the holder I guess (Chelsea) but they aren't in the competition this year. So I don't know what they will do.

Just looking at this threads initial posts and the posts going a few pages back shows how badly people have underestimated this virus.

Not to say its the end of the world or anything. But you'd think China's rapid acceleration (even considering tampered numbers possibly) in infections and inability to cope with it infrastructure wise would serve as precedent for peoples expectations

Yeah, baffled is the word.

It's a no brainer really... but as long as the govenrment keep fecking around, the PL won't do a thing.

Please read up. Especially replies to a poster called ManchesterYoda. Your baffled mind will be alleviated.

EDIT: For some reason I saw "has" and not "hasn't" in your first paragraph

Do the maths (not the math) and you will see how quickly this could spread and so slowing it down until the summer makes sense if the NHS is to handle the people who get it worse.

I'll do the maths for you.......
Mon 09 Mar - 278 cases in UK
Tue 10 Mar - 373
Wed 11 Mar - 456

Average increase over last three days of about 1.28 per day.

So projected infections at same rate would be something like:
Thu 12 Mar 585
Fri 13 Mar 750
Sat 14 mar 961
Sun 15 Mar 1,232
Mon 16 Mar 1,580
Tue 17 Mar 2,026
Wed 18 Mar 2,597
Thu 19 Mar 3,330
....
Thu 26 Mar 18,963
......
Thu 2 Apr 107,999
....
Thu 9th April 615,077
Fri 10th Apr 788,605
Sat 11th Apr 1,011,088

By Saturday 11th April four weeks this Saturday would be over one million at todays rate.

The only way to slow it down is reduce human contact - it is NOT STUPID it is COMMON SENSE!!
Actual figures for today are 590 and so the above forecast is pretty accurate

I said look at other peoples REPLIES to his first post with a graph. Many have said why suspending events are necessary and much more.
Mate, read what I posted.

I said I'm baffled it HASN'T been suspended.

I'm arguing for the proactive suspension of, ultimately, pointless events not against it!

Selfishly hoping this weekends fixtures go ahead so we can batter spurs while they're a mess. Dont think we'll get the chance to.

There are loads of people quoting that, and an apparent rule that the league is null and void if suspended for 65 days, but I've not seen anyone post the proof for the rules that show either.
Yeah, I help spread that one myself. Now I'm less than sure it's genuine :nervous:

The FA most likely didn't plan for a global pandemic of this magnitude and have no idea how to proceed as a result.

Same here  I did ask @Bulldog United to give us the source of that rule as he was the first to bring it up so confidently, that it was so hard to not believe as true.

Going tits up isn’t it.
Yes, slight understatement!

Things will be ok though, just massive, massive economic disruption coming. It's either that or the bodies piling up faster than authorities can deal with it. Need to slow the spread down.

Football season will be suspended before the weekend.

I will add that I am no expert on this, I simply worked out the average rate of increase and extrapolated out at a constant rate. I have to assume that at some point it slows down or else everyone would get it. Hopefully the measures put in place will slow it down.

Fecking hell! Just suspend the League and introduce bans on any events with crowds already.

How can we expect politicians to have learned lessons from history if they can't even learn lessons from last fecking week, it's mental

Let’s wait until they have made an announcement this afternoon.

Clubs with tight budgets will have a hard time living through that. Not sure how the sponsoring and tv deals look like in detail but I guess they'll drop off immensely when there are no games to be played. And they still have to pay huge wage hills etc.

If the corona crisis is here to stay for a few months I wouldn't be surprised if some clubs find themselves in very very unpleasant situations, maybe even bankruptcy.
