Yeah, let's feck over people because a few like to dodge tax.

Oh and whilst we are at it, let's loan millions to the big boys (many of whom conveniently donate to us) who love to dodge tax and actually make a difference to the tax income.

It's a nice sentiment from the public, but as my other half told me as she looked out into the street most NHS staff would just prefer their service to be properly funded & PPE equipment ready for them to do their job.

Look mate, you've sold Caftards to eighty different countries. You drive around in a custom Lambo quad bike and yet you only declared £15,999 on your self assessment. We're onto you.

That's what I would have thought.

Some of the bars around me have been lighting up with blue light to show 'solidarity' with NHS workers. What does that actually achieve? It's the real world equivalent of FB likes.

Just watching some of Trumps press conference and note that Pence stands really close to him.... there are people in the Amazon forest who know about the 2 metre rule?!!

Imagine if one of them caught it and gave it to the other one... the President and Vice President could both die.

Just imagine.....
President Pelosi :nervous:

You can still buy cake and champagne during lock down.

If I was going to Jimmy Carr it, I would be much smarter than he was. And £15,999? That's a little high, do you think my quad is gold plated or something!

It's a nice gesture, but achieves nothing but warm feeling for those who don't work for the NHS. Don't get me wrong, my other half is the first to say thanks about it, but when her NHS trust only just got their first wave of PPE equipment and training today it's a stark reflection of 10 years underfunding. Hopefully those clapping will reflect their support and applause for the NHS at the ballot box in the future.

It's given them something to congratulate each other about and give themselves a pat on the back.

I think in June you get the payment, it is 3 months all at once, HMRC contact you if your eligible, you have to earn under £50 k, you can claim it whether you able to continue working or not, it is taxable, and you are eligible still if you claim Tax credits and Universal credit.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep, can carry on working and almost double up on income.

So you admit to having a quad bike. I fecking knew it. People like you should work for free. And I should get all the money because that's how it works now.

So what happens after say eight weeks of lockdown @Wibble? Is the virus gone? The answer is no, and remember how fast this spread from one market in China to the entire globe.

Stable is what everyone needs right now. you act when the curve starts to take a drastic upwards turn otherwise all you are doing is kicking the can down the road for when you let people out again and this virus goes mental.

I’m sure the Swedish experts expect that cases in Norway may start to slow more than Sweden, but they are also expecting that once Norway starts to relax again the spike will come back.
I think you may be setting up a version of lock-down that isn't being considered in most places.

Of course the virus it isn't gone after 8 weeks. Which is why we are going to be hugely restricted for quite some time. Far longer than 8 weeks. Ideally until if/when a treatment and/or vaccine is ready or in the worst case scenario a couple of years until it has infected most of the planet.

If you can prevent your medical services from being overwhelmed, or at least limit how badly they are overwhelmed, until the infection rate drops significantly you may be able to loosen restrictions slightly and then infections may start to rise again. In which case you harden restrictions again. How you do this my vary country to country but I doubt most western democracies have the discipline to do this without huge state intervention. And if you let things get as bad as Spain or Italy stability will be long gone.

You joke, but everyone seems to have overlooked the comments about "bringing tax all into line" from those snakes...

So soon you might have a quad bike and I'll be walking like a peasant :(

Wondered what the fireworks In Manchester were for just now.
The Fireworks are to celebrate the closure of Piccadilly Gardens.

The clapping thing might be worse than the celebrities 'Imagine' cover.

That's a very miserable way of looking at the clapping and not accurate at all. At this moment in time the NHS is under extreme pressure with staff feeling pretty demoralised. Things like this can help keep you going at that point. When you're exhausted, upset, doubting what you do. Just that little bit of public acknowledgement makes it a touch easier to pick yourself back up and carry on.

Agreed.

My sister who is suffering as a head nurse right now might downplay it, but I can tell it means something. All you guys in public service are fecking heroes right now.
