It's not analogous but Harold Wilson resigned unexpectedly in ill health, later being diagnosed with cancer and early onset Alzheimer's. He was one clever bloke, many suspect he knew, sadly.
Cheers. Its going to be a shock for many if he doesn't pull through.

I read once you’re intubated the mortality rate jumps to 80%.
It depends on what stage. I think that some European studies showed that mortality jumps to 40%, while in China it was around 90% (though that was at the very early stage of the disease spread). In either case, it looks pretty bad.

Do you think the UK health service is gonna end up overwhelmed @Amar__?

And bullshit ”the entire World” was doing it. France got fecked, The US might end up monumentally fecked, Belgium, Holland. All hit at least at hard if not worse than Uk.

If you wanna blame Boris for listening to the advice of his experts, who can absolutely have a different view to the WHO (who aren’t at all blameless in this), fair enough, that’s a big fecking call to make. Might as well disband all of your national teams of experts & rely solely on international bodies instead.
You still think the best plan here is to infect the entire population, but slowly and controlling the numbers, so health service can admit everyone before being overwhelmed, so you are still wrong. That's only a solution once you already fecked up and turned late to the party deciding your economy is more important than human lives, so you are trying to find ways to fix it up.

Operation Last Gasp apparently got a giggle a short time ago.
Jesus. Can't abide the man's politics, nor his arrogance and ability to consistently stumble upwards but it's still another person in grave danger.

It is though in Denmark (although they aren’t locked down, they can still freely go out).

From 1st May they will slowly start opening up again which is surely the correct thing to do as this virus needs to move through society.

Although I’m not sure @Arruda won’t be here slating me again for this so maybe I’m chatting shit again and Denmark are wrong for planning to do what I’ve said countries will need to for a couple of weeks now.
I think the problem lies in basing your entire points by cherry picking what certain countries are doing to prove a point and it rubs posters up yhe wrong way.
As if they are right and the rest of the world are wrong.
Do Sweden and Denmark have more experts than the rest of the world?

I actually thought the best plan was to completely cut off China in January.
Seems only really Taiwan did a good job.

What? They didn’t ”chose”, the advise came from The Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government of the United Kingdom and his team.
They were selective with the research and models which underpinned their decisions.

So Denmark are making a mistake?
That depends on the exact nature of the lockdown they already have and the exact nature of the measures they are planning to roll back. I do not know them in detail.

Why aren't you discussing Sweden anymore? I said no one would be stupid enough to say "I told you so" in something as tragic as this, but you tempted me beyond reason.

My wife was tested as positive today, she had barely any symptoms outside of body aches so it's really fortunate. But it goes to show how varied it can be when it affects people.

Really hope Borris pulls through.

Didn't realise your chances were that bad once you hit ICU, feck those odds :(
There is still a significant variation in those odds - with intubation, patient's personal health, how ill they are etc.

Every few days something else happens which just magnifies the enormity of this pandemic.
Get well soon, Boris!

This really is shocking. The nation will be on tenterhooks if this plays out over days. I did feel like we were all getting into a bit of complacency these last couple of days.

Whereabouts in the world are you? I know a few people with symptoms and nobody can get a test.

You asked if the idea of people dying could be funny, I showed you how it apparently can be to some people. Take it up with the funnyman responsible.
Got not bones with you, mate - some people will laugh at any old shit. Probably the same people who believe that 5G masts are killing everyone.

Can then someone explain why the worst policies (and contrary to what everyone else was doing) were made from countries who seem to be tired of experts and have nutters (or wannabe nutters) in charge? Talking here for the US and the UK. Oh, add Brazil there. I think that I see a pattern.

No, you guys are always desperate to create a strawman in here.

Germany are talking about an exit plan, and Austria too. I’m not “cherry-picking”, I think it’s obvious now that we’ll have to slowly open up and try to keep things under control in ALL countries, once the opportunity is there.

But yeah “chatting shit”, “don’t know shit” etc etc.

If you plan isn’t to lockdown for 12 months then I’m not cherry picking or chatting shit at all, I’m saying it’s good news when a country who feels they have a stable situation, wants to start opening up slowly again.

The anger and arrogance in here though to anyone who dares to question.

Hoping Boris pulls through but in a weird way it could be the shock to the system to all those dickheads acting as normal to keep them inside more.

Boris has tried to keep going when he was clearly a sick man who needed to rest. You have to admire him for that, he's done his best to step up to the plate at a time of national crisis.
Quite right.
Whatever you think about his politics he was clearly working his bollocks off to try and make things better right up until he gets admitted to hospital and then icu.
He has a pregnant wife.
Have some fecking decency ffs.
God forbid some of you pricks are ever in the same situation..........

Think next 24 hours are crucial or so I've heard from Twitter.

This is huge. It feels like the princess Diana news in its magnitude. I hope he pulls through, but he's obviously been working hard while being unwell, which isn't good. I fear the worst.
Hopefully he pulls through - that is obvious for anyone with any humanity.
And you hope he is then given a proper period of recovery.
