Its easy. If you you are an employee and don't find a worker for the minimum wage because of that reason, you will need to increase the compensation to make them move their ass to work

One of the ideas is to get rid of jobs that aren’t needed to be done by humans. Also you’d still get UBI if you worked so you’d be working for extra money, there’d be incentive. There’d just be no incentive to do terrible job for poor income for survival.

Which then ups the costs or production, which then ups the costs of the end price of product, which then makes consumer pay more for said product, so then basic income wont be sufficient anymore.

Taxes. It’s tricky because you’d need to tax people a lot more than now, removing some incentive to work. Corporate tax would need to increase substantially and you’d need to find a way for corporate to pay it in the first place, as they’d probably see their profit growth in the mid term and definitely in the long term. You need stable and growing economy to implement it though and we won’t have that anytime soon, anywhere in the world.

Is partially true. The increase in salary dilutes so your earnings for an increase of Minimum wage is bigger than the increase on inflation. But of course, increase on a minimum wage and the universal income should be a redistribution policy that should come increasing taxes to the top 10%

The claim that increasing the minimum wage is harmful for the companies and the economy and that it has no effect long term is a lie being told for ages by the top 10%...as always

A lot of people getting far too worked up about delayed test results in Ireland, if you ask me. Someone like Mary Lou being a good example. The result didn’t influence her outcome or management at all. She had to self isolate and sit it out regardless. Quick results only important for the very unwell and for HCWs, who have been bumped to top of the queue for a reason. For the Mary Lous out there, the result is only useful for the bigger picture, so no big deal if they’re delayed for a week or two. ICU and admissions data are probably more useful than number of cases in the phase we’re in now anyway.

Once we get through this lockdown and if we can get back to a containment strategy we’ll need prompt test results for everyone, to do rapid contact tracing and quarantining. We’re a way off that right now. I’m just pleased that we’re already able to test so many people every day. Sets us up well for the next phase.

Just a subset of them that fulfil certain criteria. Been that way for a couple of weeks now. We’ve had to prioritise testing for some groups over others (albeit still a much more extensive testing program than our neighbours across the pond)

Seeing as we’ve ramped up testing as much as we have done, combined with doing a great job at flattening the curve, the whole contact tracing thing might become more central to our strategy again. We’re not there yet though.

Maybe im wrong but we have such a huge city in comparison to our size that its easier to pad stats like these with a solid focus on Dublin?

It wont work because it will gut the lower end employment and push the prices of everything up. It's something that might work in the future when basic jobs can be automated.
