He doesn't need to hope when he has a contract with us for another 3-4 years..."I hope I can earn £375k a week for many years to come"

shame we’ve got so called fans like you. No-hoper fans. Was it good for him to waste his prime at a no-hoper of a club like ours?
De Gea is still far better than Henderson. Will be for at least another two years too. We're in a bit of a predicament if he wants to see out the 5 year contract he signed in 2019.
We have Dean Henderson who we've sent out on loan for the last 5 years who has climbed up from the National League, League 2, League 1, Championship and now is arguably one of the Premier League's best goalkeepers and on the verge of being the England #1.
Would back Henderson if I'm honest.
Well yeah but if De Gea keeps making mistakes and Henderson’s not playing, we could end up with Henderson wanting to leave and De Gea being a sub par keeper. Don’t think Henderson would come back to be second choice even for a season.De Gea vs Henderson is, as the cliche goes, a nice problem to have.
DDG is still quality AND Henderson will have his time to shine. We're in a bit of a predicament if he wants to see out the 5 year contract he signed in 2019.

Honestly, no one really abuse De Gea for wanted to leave. He kept it professional by not making it into public, when the transfer failed, he understood the situation and signed a new contract, and the fans also agreed if he leaves then because he was too good for us at that time. He could have collected some CL medal with Real if he was being unprofessional which could force the club to sell him few years ago.Football fans are so fickle.
Player wants to leave : abuse for being a traitor
Player wants to stay : abuse for wanting to stay
Player leaves : abuse the new guy for never being as good as prime old guy
Change in powers. Why Madrid never went back in for him after that deal collapsed in 2015 ?
Damn good thing, too. If De Gea had left then no top players would've come to us (not that many have since but you get what I mean).Change in powers.
De Gea wanted to leave, not much time was left on his contract so all parties were ready to to agree. Didn't work out in the end.
After that situation, De Gea signed a massive contract, Madrid were still interested but we weren't ready to sell cheap like we were before, so Madrid moved on to Courtois.
It's not an insult because it's true. To some people it's as easy as playing a video game. The same way some people thought James Wilson was good enough to be our striker. They are also the ones that hype all of the talented academy players over the moon but will be the one of many to complain at every mistake They make.Ugh, another one who just throws the fm insult out there. Grim.
Go on any discussion about DDG on here and you’ll find it.Where do you see abuse?
Florentino Perez usually when he gets his head around having a certain player doesn't give up. Some are like must have toys for him, so don't be surprised if they come backChange in powers.

They continued showing interest for another year or two after that but it was obvious they were doing their usual thing where they wanted the player to make a huge deal about it so they could get him cheaper. De Gea refused to do that so they never took it any further as they knew they simply couldn't afford him at the price we would want. Why Madrid never went back in for him after that deal collapsed in 2015 ?
Funny that you're getting #### for telling it as it is. De Gea single-handedly saved our arses for how many years in a row, now Henderson is suddenly better?... Please. Give me a break. Was it good for him to waste his prime at a no-hoper of a club like ours?
Thing is, with de Gea, pretty much everyone understood his desire to leave for Madrid because he was good enough to win the big trophies and we weren't. I don't remember him getting much abuse from United fans when it looked like it was only a matter of time before he signed for Madrid.Football fans are so fickle.

I still think that fax machine was bollocks from Real Madrid's end who wanted to actually sign him on a free the next summer due to the expiring contract. Always thought that royally pissed De Gea and his camp off which is why it was swiftly followed up with a long term deal with no release clause. Basically ended any serious links as well.Change in powers.

Completely two separate topics. So United is a charity now? The club should do whats best for DDG and not itself?

Do you think that is a positive or a negative?Friday 26 July 2019 - "Manchester United is delighted to announce that Dean Henderson has signed a new contract, which will keep him at the club until June 2022, with the option to extend for a further year."
Monday 16 September 2019 - "David De Gea has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until at least June 2023. There is an option to extend for a further year."
I think its a huge positive. They have one year where they could overlap, be teammates. Henderson knows what he wants and it's being United's #1. He has always said it and is comfortable taking his own path, going up the ranks.Do you think that is a positive or a negative?
It’s a good problem to have for now.
I responded to a particular post which was in direct response to mine. Not sure why you equate those to two separate topics.Completely two separate topics.
Club must without any question do what is best for the club. No place for emotions there. That is why, despite 12 years have passed, i am still pissed that we sold Ronaldo just because he cried that he wants to leave.
But on the other hand sometimes what is best for the club is not the best for the player. What is wrong in saying that? Ronaldo for example would never score that many goals in PL and i doubt that he would have won that many CL.
Same goes for DDG. I am very happy that he failed to go in Madrid but that fax maschine made huge damage to his career.
My sentiments as well. It always makes me laugh when fans whine about loyalty and then i see shit like this.Football fans are so fickle.

You do understand that's not all salary right. Juve aren't paying ronaldo 100 million a year.According to The Forbes list, De Gea is the 11th highest paid footballer on the planet, above Gareth Bale and Alexis Sanchez.
You'd swear as some of these players are about to sign a new deal, that Woodward stares at them adoringly before saying with a wink 'Ah sure go on, you've earned it, I'll throw an extra 200,000 quid in a week for good measure'

That includes sponsorship deals. I'm fairly sure Salah or Pogba don't earn as much as De Gea but they would just have bigger sponsorship deals.According to The Forbes list, De Gea is the 11th highest paid footballer on the planet, above Gareth Bale and Alexis Sanchez.

Well I would have thought Gareth Bale was a lot more marketable than David De Gea. De Gea barely gets his game for Spain so where do all his endorcments come from? Pogba only earned 3 million dollars more than him over the past year and he's supposed to be one of the most marketable athletes around. You do understand that's not all salary right. feck knows. The article looks like bollocks anyway as it claims mo salah has a lower salary than pogba but earns 12m from endorsements. That means pogba earns very little from endorsements comparatively which like you say, would make no sense.Well I would have thought Gareth Bale was a lot more marketable than David De Gea. My main thought is that it's his errors that have been the problem over the last year and a half, not his style of goalkeeping. If he he was in good form there would be few complaints, I think, as extremely high level shot-stopping is always good currency for a goalkeeper.Tweet

All keepers seem to be error prone minus Allison etc who are well protected. My main thought is that it's his errors that have been the problem over the last year and a half, not his style of goalkeeping.
