He said the same thing about the woman in the Chinese restaurant who asked to see his ID, when he was picking up food for delivery. There was no evidence in the vid that she'd used a racial slur.
Yea i had seen that alright. If the Asian woman had used a slur against him, he would have mentioned it straight away. Which he doesnt.

The mob mentality occasionally on show here, and regularly on social media is pretty disgusting. We go back just a little in time and these very same people, with just as much righteous fury, gleeful spite and supreme confidence in their own moral judgement would be stoning women for adultery and burning young girls at the stake for witchcraft. I think there’s little doubt that as a collective we have advanced morally, but it’s sad to see how quickly individuals can revert to their primitive selves.

There is evidence.

He does this all the time. He’s an attention seeking whore with a complex. There is a several years long video record of him acting like a piece of shit.

On the other side... you’ve got a woman reacting badly to being followed home and a camera being pointed at her as she is insulted.

The world has gone mad
I'm not sure I'd call it evidence of what occurred here, I can see how it would undermine his credibility though.

Like I said before, I feel we're missing a part of the communication from before he follows her back home. It seems odd that she would follow him, drive off when he stops and gets his phone out and then say "I have a black husband" as her first sentence after he follows her.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
I just found a GoFundMe page he and his husband set up (before this incident) to raise money for him to do more self-publicity. Good grief, he's a bit shameless.

They’re streets over from newly minted BLM HQ, the Chaz aren’t they?

That woman would have lived and breathed Race for weeks. Signs and videos about Karen’s and such.

He just wants to be rich and famous. There are so many of them these days. I knew a guy who wanted to be an actor, then a director, then a model, then a comedian. He just wanted to be famous for fames sake.

(btw - youtube comments under mainstream news outlets are a good indication as to what a large chunk of people are thinking. much more representative than twitter, approacing fb. for the first time i'm seeing widespread anti-trump stuff in politically neutral mainstream channels. it's a bad sign for him)

These two clips are quality. Good to see that the chick in red is pro-choice by her statements.

I think the young generation coming through are great. They’re progressive, thoughtful and empathic in a way that my generation never were. I’m optimistic about a future with them in charge.

One big flaw I think they do show is a nasty streak towards people in late middle age. The stuff about gammons, “ok, boomer” and now Karens. Obviously there are middle aged assholes galore but the malice aimed in the direction of everyone above a certain age reflects badly on the young ‘uns. IMHO. Not sure what’s behind it but it’s definitely a thing.
People are people. Off topic, but there are a lot of scumbags amongst the younger generations, I assure you. As a twenty something guy, the most rude, entitled, vacuous individuals I encounter tend to be other young pricks in their twenties/early thirties. I acknowledge this is anecdotal, but I very rarely find that older men or women show casual rudeness or dismissiveness like some younger people do. When I was at uni, I found there was a distinct unwillingness to engage in productive intellectual discussion - it’s as though they lack any intellectual bravery or unique thought. As you say, they have a tendency to resort to petty labels to reduce the contents of opposing arguments.

*I acknowledge there are a lot of generalisations here.

The bold sentence had been said by my parents generation, and by my grandparents generation and so on. You are just getting old

Well I’m very much part of the generation Pogue referenced. In the most literal sense, yes I’m getting old(er), but you can’t put my distaste for elements of my own generation down to my age.

I imagine it’s partly to do with blaming millennials for everything. Google article blaming millennials and it’s impressive.

I can understand not liking Karen and ok boomer but Gammon is great, wonderful word.

Not all young people are the same. What you describe is building and running rampant

The trial by media thing, based on clips and no context has simply got to stop.

There’s so much bandwagon jumping. Anti bullying. Until Me Too. Women’s rights. Until statues. Black Lives Matter.

Peak ‘feck this generation’ is the acceptance/endorsement of a guy bullying a woman on camera, for cutting him off in traffic, three blocks away from the worlds ‘Defund the Police’ movement.

This generation is eating itself. I put no faith in the generation to bring society together. Absolute faith in them to make their corner (and in time a majority) of the world better. But they’re as incendiary as Trump at the edges, and instead of course correction, those fringes are being supported.

Their actions fcuking suck, but because they’re on the right team, they’re defended. That’s MAGA. That’s the blue line of the Police. They are becoming everything they hate.

Every generation has to cope with getting stick from people the same age as their parents. I’m generation X, allegedly born slackers. They even made a movie about how all we do is smoke weed and talk about ourselves.

Ironically, the boomers that millennials (and whatever the next lot are called - gen Z?) love to pour scorn on lived through one of the fiercest battles to push back against unfair stereotyping from the previous generation.

Depends what his job is. If he attracted a huge amount of negative publicity to his company by getting involved with borderline (many would say outright) racist propaganda then his employer has every right to sack him.

If those screenshots of his PMs that were put out are real then it's really not that surprising it's happened either.

Oh boy.

No wonder the US is far from its peak, people don't listen to experts. Hugely concerning.

I think a lot of this is similar to the Dunning-Kruger effect, it's a real shame people resist doing what health officials say.

It's also no surprise US cases continue to rise but of course there are multiple factors why.

Well put. Regarding those who want to improve the world, I'm always trying to remind myself that historical changes have often come about throught actions that must have been viewed as over-the-top, even nasty, at the time, like the Suffragettes, for example. So while I'm no fan of vandalism and such, I'm of course hoping that some good will come out of this.

However, while I can see what @Pogue Mahone refers to as progressive values, there is at the same time definitely an authoritarian streak in this whole youth/young adult culture. The number of viewpoints one can have is very narrow. And, as is common in such structures/societies, fear of being the next victim guides their actions. What is the best way of guaranteeing your own survival or standing within the group? Well, make sure you name and shame someone else. And yes, in time they will eat themselves, as most of these will at some point have been shamed, ostracized or decided to take another path in life.

Without the youth being aware of it themselves, I would argue that their actions contributes to freedom of expression being more under threat than it has been for a long time. Not in the classical sense, that you have no forum for your opinions, but rather the self-censorship that this culture forces upon society. I have little or no interest in debating 99% of current topics, and certainly not on Twitter and its like. But maybe, once in a while, I could have a dissenting or minority opinion. In today's climate, it would probably just remain unsaid. Being guided by a basic courtesy and respect for other people regardless of race, gender, religion, etc, might no longer be sufficient. One poor wording (or an unpopular opinion) could set off a chain event. Now, while I don't think the world loses out on too many golden nuggets by my non-contribution, in turn it will also prevent me from hearing counter-arguments to my own position. When enough people think like me, only the screamers on either side are left.

It took me 45 minutes to explain BLM to my dad. This after he uttered “But all lives matter”.

It took 45 minutes for a father to listen to his son, even after my opener is “You’re right Dad, they do. Nobody is disputing that”

Sacking people rather than educating them breeds hate and divides. This fella is surrounded by an online and offline presence that pushes him to this place.

Let’s address than rather than fire him.
You think someone who poses for pictures with Tommy Robinson, calls people "p*kis", has an EDL Facebook banner, is in a relationship with a woman who moans about a town being "too foreign" and "They need sending back on banana boats, stinkin b******s", simply misunderstands what BLM is and just needs to be educated with a chat like your dad?

Also his girlfriend was fired from her job too, the company she worked for offered to send her on a race sesitivity course but she refused, which is when they fired her.

Holy fcuking shit no!

Sorry, hadn’t read enough. Deleted my post.

Christ on a bike I’m glad I hadn’t posted that then left my phone for a few hours.

The last thing I read didn’t have any of that additional info and context. He just sounded like an uneducated little englander.

 No worries. I think there are a small amounf of people who simply misunderstand, like we've seen in the protest thread, but yeah he doesn't seem like one of them.

Well I certainly agree with him on the incident with Karlos Dillard, who really just comes off as an unhinged asshole. With Amy Cooper, I actually feel sorry for her that she is stamped for life over that incident, but her behaviour was sociopathic, she was clearly willing to put him in great danger instead of just putting her dog on a leash. Atm Im more fed up with the general culture where anyone can say all white are people are inherently racist, of course they are only talking about white caucasians and if you disagree with them your racist. That's a statement of immense racial prejudice in itself. It doesn't mean that there isn't racism in virtually every country, it's just if you want to label someone racist, let that be defined by their words and actions and nothing else.

So the woman yelling all kinds of racism in front of the confederate flag is backtracking. . .

Apparently saying she’ll teach her grandchildren to hate people, “isn’t in her character”.

It might be a good read but I didn’t get further than the byline. Brendan O’Neill is a bad bad person. One of life’s wrong ‘uns. Feck him and feck everything he writes.
Tbh I'm not sure I consider it to even be a good read, it read like it latches on to one incident and drags others in with it whilst making the point that this whole Karen thing is doing that.
There are points I'd agree with him on, but then I find this whole idea of labelling someone a Karen daft to begin with.
