I don't understand how we were the only club in for him this January, and don't understand how he was at Sporting for so long.

He's an absolutely elite player, and would probably be knocking on the door of best in position in the league if a certain KDB didn't exist.
What actually happened to him in Italy.

We paid what, 60m for him ? Looks like an absolute steal watching him week in week out. He should be worth +100m.

Another great performance, besides the early missing chance theres not anything that you can ask him.

Is it too much to ask 20 goals and 20 assists next season? Best signing since RVP.
tbh I would've thought in no way he would replicate his numbers from Portugal. Now I won't be surprised if he does those numbers here.

What a player, 2 assists and a goal. He will end up with double digit for both goals and assists this season.

The biggest compliment i can give Bruno is that he is the first player since Ronaldo that you've had who genuinely annoys me as to how good he is.
I think this is the 1st time an opposition fan has made the first post in one of our players performance threads after a new performance. Since threadmarks were introduced, anyway. Bruno really is setting the world alight.

So many strings to his bow. Absolutely delighted with not only how he has performed but the way our attack looks rejuvenated. Also for the first time in years our team looks balanced since his arrival.

'tis a silly place
i dont get it why wasn't nobody was in for him before either? Why did we sign Fred 3 years ago when we could have signed him?
It does look ridiculous that we were second guessing this signing back in the summer, but it actually was a not-unreasonable perspective based on the history of players who steamroller the Portuguese league but don't replicate that in other countries. I think it was fair enough to question whether Fernandes would get the same space in England as he did in Portugal, but it also attests to how important it is to actually watch a player consistently and over 90 minutes in order to make a judgment; I'm sure most people were going off highlight compilations and 1-2 matches here and there.

The tempo he plays at sets him apart, always forcing the game, pressing hard, trying the difficult pass, has a little bit of Giggs in that that combined with some of Lampard in his goal threat.

I think it’s unreasonable when we have some of the best scouts and coaches in the game whose job it is to make these judgements.

He is really just perfect isn't he. At one point he goes to the left back position and screams at the center backs to be in position. Glad he was not good enough for Spurs

Don't think I've ever seen a player with this kind of effect on a team.
Not only he's technically brilliant, but his mentality is tailor made for United. He's also not afraid to put on a shift in midfield.
That pass to Greenwood for the first goal, I think it's underrated because how well Mason hit it. But Fernandes hit that pass inch perfect first time, while falling down, under pressure from 2 players.

I was pretty ambivalent on this transfer at the time, but I've most definitely bought into the hype train now. Had an insane impact.

Our luck with players from Portuguese League is pretty good, even since SAF era.

It can't be stated just how instrumental he has been to our turn in fortunes and massive improvements in our playing style.

As I said in the match thread, his first assist makes "possession lovers" cringe because it was a high risk pass passing in front of two defenders and passing between two other defenders before reaching Greenwood. The odds of failing were high, but if the pass reached Greenwood as Bournemouth was compacting on Bruno's flank meant that Greenwood would have spare time to prepare the shot before the defenders shift to his flank.

If you forget Bebé (but then again not even ehere at PT we knew who that guy was at the time he was transferred :D )
Nah.. we all know why SAF signed Bebe. He wouldn't give up so easily on young player that he properly bought.

What a signing. I hope we arent made to pay for not wrapping him in cotton wool when the games are won though.

So much time for this beautiful man. He could pump my other half in front of me and I'd still worship him.

Great skill. Great vision. Seems like a leader. Passionate and humble.

Keep hold of this 'un.

It's as if United have gotten a prime Chelsea type Juan Mata with a motor, little bit more physicality, bite, and maybe a little more quality as well.

I absolutely f***ing LOVE this guy. To think just a year ago we had such an unlikable bunch of players. This man has totally transformed the way we play, the results and the players around him. Martial, Pogba, Matic, Shaw all look far hungrier since he came in; I can only imagine he is geeing everyone up behind the scenes. Winner mentality, quality technically and leads by example. I actually (stupidly) thought he was going to flop here because the Portuguese league is so weak compared to the PL.

But just WOW. I don't really buy United shirts but you bet I am getting Bruno #18 for next season. Incredible player & character

Knock on wood but I get the feeling he's just a really fit guy who can run all day. Historically he has an excellent injury record, though yeah you never know. Best not to take risks IMO. If we get a couple goal lead midweek then definitely give him an early sub.

He does seem super fit tbf. Still worries me though, given how much we rely on him already.

I've seen a few comparisons but I don't see any resemblance to Mata at all.
