What should we do for the right wing if we don't get Sancho in the upcoming window?

That's the case right now. The only difference is we don't have a first choice RW. James' end product inferior to Mason's and keep in mind James has played more minutes.
Mason has bulked up during lockdown and he's finding it easier to hold off defenders and doesn't let to be bullied. I'm really curious how his developement will go from now until the end of the season.

If we fail to land Sancho, we still should look for a right wide player of quality. James doesn't cut it yet and Chong doesn't seem ready.

Greenwood is absolute quality. He seems absolutely perfect yesterday in his role. Now I'm having second thoughts whether we need Sancho or not. But overall I feel one more quality wide player is definitely needed to limit James' minutes.

Yeah, he was really good, but yeah - we need to bring someone to keep him on his toes. Preferably Sancho :wenger:
 
Seen some say we don't need Sancho because of Greenwood. I think we should still go for Sancho though but if the asking price is beyond us then because of Greenwoods performances, an RW that isn't Sancho doesn't seem as heartbreaking as before
 
Jeremie Boga was strongly linked, by good sources last week. Has been excellent this season. if Sancho is out of reach Boga wouldn’t be a bad shout as he’d probably be more willing to work in the rotation. Anyway, a rotation of Martial, Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood is going to give all of them plenty of games, surely?

Greenwood's emergency has really helped us. We can now look like we don't need Sancho and target other RWs to make Dortmund uncomfortable
 
It is all about the intent. If United’s intent is to take the field next season aiming to challenge for the Premier League and/or the Champions League, we should try to sign Sancho. If finishing in top-four next season will do, the 18-year-old kid is good enough. Greenwood will only get better with each passing season.

Hudson-Odoi would cost a fortune if Chelsea would even sell him. Huge step down in quality from Sancho to Hudson-Odoi as well, despite the hype. Only Lewandowski got a better Whoscored rating in the Bundesliga than Sancho. Hudson-Odoi on the other hand can barely get a game at Chelsea.
 
Sarr, Daka, even Zaha. All good options. I really like Stengs too. He can be a great signing.
 
There's nothing wrong with preparing for the worst.
From the top of my head, Chukwueze, Kulusevski, Chiesa, Stengs, Traore, Orsolini.

If we do not get Sancho this summer, Sancho to United is surely off?

We cannot afford to go another season without a RW.

A RW will cost £40-50m plus a CAM because one signing is not enough. So spending £80m on 2 players this summer to counter the fact we cannot get Sancho.

Therefore; if there is no money this summer to sign him and we spend £60-80m on attackers, who's to say there will be £100m next summer for him?

Somehow I don’t think you understand how financially unviable that is. If you were going to get Ronaldo you would need to spend somewhere in the same region as Sancho for fees. One has 3? Years left of a outstanding career and the other has 12+ of a potentially outstanding career.
 
Coman on loan seems a shrewd move. Sarr is an interesting option which should not be that expensive either, although wouldn't really know what would happen to him if we manage to get Sancho next summer.

Take a gamble and throw all our eggs in the Greenwood basket, sign a more experienced backup in the Ighalo mould.

If he was motivated to play for us it wouldn’t be the worst idea to allow Greenwood to develop.

But personally I don’t want him anywhere near the club.

I don't think anyone fears putting our eggs in the Greenwood basket what we fear is who plays if Greenwood is unavailable. As some have suggested a move for Sarr or someone on loan would be a good idea.
 
If I was Woody, I'd start preparing loan deals with an option to buy for Coman and Dembele. They'd be relatively low risk but potentially massively rewarding options.

Splashing out £100 million plus for Sancho in the current climate just isn't realistic, nor does it make much financial sense. For once someone needs to stick two fingers up at Zorc, Watzke and Dortmund. This is their whole spiel: buy cheap, extort bigger clubs (unless it's Daddy Bayern). One day, it will bite them in the arse.

Sancho isn't the only option out there, and maybe calling BVB's bluff may get them to drop their demands a bit.
 
If we can’t get sancho this year, we shall invest in other positions. What we don’t need is to buy subpar players - there are loads of those already. We shall rather buy a starting CB and starting DM

That sounds reasonable to me. Anyway we are so weak in the reserves I wonder if it would be folly to splash out on a single right wing. The idea quite frankly makes me feel uncomfortbale.

We need to load up on quality reaserves and I can imagine having Grealish, Coman, Tiago Silva etc players of that ilk would be fantastic for the team. Also a proper attacking wingback.

Would I swap all of that for Sancho? Hard to say. But personally happy to have him stay another year at Dortmund if we can bullet proof our squad.
