That tweet doesn’t add up to Ole is doing. Why would he spend the last 18 months taking his time in the market, rid of all that squad fodder and bad contracts to then sign those players.

I don’t think he’s the right profile of signing for them at all personally and believe he is likely to be eaten alive in the PL, especially under Lampard’s stewardship where defenders are left exposed.
Disagree, he martialled a side who comfortably took apart Spurs and is comfortably better than Johnny Evans or Soyuncu, who were part of one of the best back fours in the league (note back four and not teams who play with a back three). Also as @Orc mentioned they hugely missed kante who would shield the back four. He will easily improve Chelsea's defence.

We were calamitous at the back defending set pieces, crosses and corners. Also looked generally disorganized. An older, highly experienced CB should certainly help those things.

He'll 100% need to have the right sort of personell around him, though. Zouma is our quickest and most mobile CB so I'm going to guess he'll be Silva's primary partner should we sign him.

Plus, Kante missed literally 50% of the last season. Having him healthy would help a 36 year old defender. I don't see any downsides to this move. Stopgap until buying Rice or Upamecano next summer.
At best, I see him having a Blanc-esque impact. Generally easy to expose but - as you say - possibly quite effective with the right system and personnel. Adds more fuel to the fire that Lampard is building a mansion with rickety foundations.

Corriere Dello Sport reporting this.

Don't want any of them. I'd take de Ligt for what they paid, or Ronnie on a free. That's about it. 40m for their unwanted players, they're having a laugh.

I don’t think you can use one off CL games as a barometer for how effective a player will be in the PL week in, week out. He’s coming into a Chelsea side that conceded nearly 60 in the league in the campaign just gone. Also takes a reasonable leap of faith to think that Kante will add the much needed midfield protection being as though he’s not shown his best for a couple of years now, is at an age where mileage will start to show and there are doubts as to whether Lampard even wants him around long term.

I would be interested to see how a move for Thiago Silva would be received if United were making it. It’s a band aid transfer IMO that doesn’t fix the existing personnel and tactical problems. Have they spent all the funds on the front end of their team?

What is Ed doing ffs? we've had more arrests than signings this fecking transfer window. It is going to be a very hard and difficult season just as 2018-2019.

I'd take Ramsey at a maximum of 35 million. Good, versatile player. Always liked him.

Madness that mate. The bloke is more injury prone than Jones.

Don't even think I'd be happy with a loan deal.

Ramsey isn't worth anything because if his wages, the best Juve could do this window is getting him off their wage bill.

Also have to remember that we won't have Kepa between the sticks letting in nearly every shot that goes near him and failing miserably to command his area.

Experienced new CB, new keeper, new LB, and Kante fit should see our defense improve massively. It surely can't get any worse. Only way is up from last season.

Not for me. Turned us down years back, don't want to be giving him a final pay day. Always seemed an arrogant little prick to me.

Leicester, Newcastle, Wolves and Manchester United only clubs yet to sign anyone. Newcastle on the brink of signing Hendrick.

I hope you're paying from your pocket cos the club don't have much to waste on a crock.

Wages, age, injuries, performances... No idea why Ramsey or Costa should cost more than €15-20m each in this market.

That ship sailed a long time ago for me.

He is capable of playing good games sometimes but he's not what we need at all right now. He was on big money at Juve to go there.

I would rather have Bale on a loan than Ramsey and it's not even close.

I'm guessing a lot of people don't know Ramsey's current wage, then?
I think there's been a bunch of big wage / no fee transfers after his, so everyone's just conveniently forgot about him. He'll have to pull a Gareth Bale if he wants to keep making that money.

Even more depressing is the fact that there are people actually believe the corriere story :)
We have fans that believe everything they see written down. It really is baffling.

The transfer window does something to our fans. It's mental the effect it has.
