What are you on about?

He shouldn't have been there in the first place! Shouldn't have gone to a public place on a holiday. He could easily afford a private location for family and friends.

Instead he want in a confined bar during a global pandemic. He has increased his risk of getting into trouble, contracting covid and passing it on to United team mates. There are video clips of him pissed up, wandering around bars in Greece having selfies and slapping fans on the back ffs.
explain how he is pissed up

What the hell is going on there.
Clearly some real issues that Greek authorities don't want publicised. Maguire appears to be a target as he's well known.

I think this is going to be embarrassing for the Greeks. Being found guilty in these courts nowadsys mens feck all. Look at Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe

I'm pretty sure she's not in prison in Greece.

I like how everyone is assuming foul play automatically without any proof.

I agree with all of this, from the very beginning I've been thinking this was all very avoidable and why the feck was he in such a public and evidently dodgy location. Especially during a pandemic.

but one where the charges can be changed and substituted moments before a trial is better?
There are rumours about everything right now. It is about damage controll from both sides. What we have on paper is what we have. We have to take it from here.

Very interesting tweet
Absolutly interesting. But now everything is about what is true or not true. What we know is what Maguire got and we have to adapt. And club have to come with some sort of statement soon.

Well, this was not good news at all. I think, with everything on the table, ManUtd as a club has serious discusions infront of them about several things regarding Maguire.

I note there is some upset about Greece. People calling Greece justice system a scam have to understand that "western" system isn't always the best one.
What? You mean the system where you cannot be arbitrarily arrested and charged for a crime , where you will have your side of the story heard in a trial, and where you cannot be convicted if there is reasonable doubt of your guilt? You mean that system?

The Ballad of Harry Maguire

Standing in the lineups at Stanstead
Flying to Mykonos with friends
The fans on the caf said
A global pandemic!
He really shouldn't be doing that!

Christ you know it ain't easy
Playing for MUFC
The way things are going
They'll take Harry's captaincy

Finally made the plane in Athens
Drinking cocktails by the pool
There with Marcus and Bran
A couple of fans
and 20 thousand worth of Moet

Christ you know it ain't easy
Playing for MUFC
The way things are going
They'll take Harry's captaincy

Strolled through lively little streets with my crew and
Stopped at a little bar for a peek
The newspapers said
We grabbed some cops to bust heads
But they never said they're secret police

Christ you know it ain't easy
Playing for MUFC
The way things are going
They'll take Harry's captaincy

Spending all your money while on holiday
Give 30 percent wages to charity
Last night ol'Fern said
Harry, when you're red
They won't give you the benefit of any doubt so

Policemen took us to the station
Said I tried to give 'em a bag
Newspapers said "d'yer know who I am?"
"I'm the leader of a team called the rags"

Christ you know it ain't easy
Playing for MUFC
The way things are going
They'll take Harry's captaincy

Made an early trip to the courthouse
Pleaded not guilty to the Mag
The men from the press
Said it don't look the best
Harry's obviously done something quite bad
'
Christ you know it ain't easy
Playing for MUFC
The way things are going
They'll take Harry's captaincy

They have. They basically said that Greek justice was a load of shit on this occasion because they didn't allow a fair trial.
I am thinking about a real statement. Not the one saying "we noticed bla bla bla". I would like to know what and how club will react and what they are thinking about situation.

I know nothing of this story but I'd be pretty sure trouble found Maguire . Having said that he has to be stripped of the United captaincy at once because we can't have the leader of our great club being found guilty of this in a court .
These guys get paid alot of money and for that they can't live a life like the rest of us can .

What the hell is going on there.
I guess the implication is there are criminal gangs operating in Greece that use that method to incapacitate victims in order to rob or rape them. The doctors advised the victim not to tell the police because they’re in cahoots with the criminals. The criminals would probably pay off the police for license to operate in such a scenario.

They are thinking that this looks like a crock of shit but as a big company they cannot say it in those words.

Did you not cringe a bit writing that last sentence out. I'd be amazed if you kept a straight face
Why would I cringe? I didn't get hyperbolic calling Greece a third world country because a player from the Club I support was convicted in a Court of Law. I guess not being 10 does that.

You make the law look that easy which is not.

Just because they have different approach to justice system doesn't mean it is wrong. And how many times have you seen injustice accure in "our" justice system. Plenty of times. So before going all in against Greece, we might look at our system.

Can't you see this was all a setup, years in the making. From the guys bothering his sister or w/e, the people at the bar, the police, the hospital, the court and judge.

They finally got him!

Yes, if it could result in jailtime. Also, seems odd that assaulting a policeman and attempting to bribe officials are only misdemeanours tbh.
I'm a bit late to the party reading the details of the case, having been on holiday.
Maybe due to ego or not to lose his captaincy or England place.

We might also consider that no matter what we might think of ‘their system’, it’s there country and they can do as they choose. Tourists are there as guests and it’s up the to tourist to abide by local customs or fall foul of their law with all its foibles.

If you’re worried about Greek cops and law, behave while you are there or don’t go at all!

I've tried to find it on here as I'm sure someone else has asked, but what does that 21 month suspended for three years sentence actually mean? In three years time it's due? Or as long as he doesn't do anything for 3 years it goes away?

Should be the latter. Probation for three years, then it's gone.

As long as he doesn't break the law in that three years ( I presume in Greece) he will not go to jail.
