Well, I'm glad that I got this one wrong regarding if he was coming. Good player but not sure about how he fits into our system, he's like a poor man's Müller.

Definitely, unpopular opinion but i would add McTominay to that list of players to ship out especially if we get Thiago.
So would I, but Thiago isn't happening. I suspect its Liverpool or no one else for him.
Plus if we are selling Lingard, McT takes his role as senior youth mascot.

I’m just a bit concerned that we have only one player in the squad who I’d consider a classic defensive/deep lying midfielder, and that’s Matic. But I’m probably (hopefully) a bit old-fashioned in my thinking.
That makes me old fashioned too but I would just be very surprised if we brought in another. I love being wrong though (good job really ... I often am).

So this one is over the line?

Delighted If true but let's not start here, need to get in 3 or 4 more and we can actually do something bar challenge for Top 4 which should be the minimum expectation at this club.

Lets remember we have a game every 3or4 days for 9 months!!! Let that sink in. We know how that intensity feels from post lockdown.

From what we learned in post lockdown games, OGS will always play 3 mf's, but alter according to weak team or big team. If we assume our best 3 is Matic, Pogba, Bruno, however, likelihood is they won't play together often due to type of opposition, injuries, rotation or form. For the first time, OGS has choices to pick bespoke midfield vis a vis his tactics and the opposition, whilst also having bench options that can maintain quality level or change tactics. Also great competition for places too.
Doesn't look like it needs Grealish either. Sad for him, but his club priced him out of a dream move.

Add Sancho for 3 from 4 up top

Dream would be a CB better than Lindelof to allow 2 from 3 centre backs and we are sorted.
I think VDB spells the end for the Graelish to United move. They would both have occupied the same space in the squad, but like you said, Villa priced him out of it. He would have been a good signing, but definitely not at the prices mentioned. Agreed that it 's good we finally have enough options to allow not just Ole, but the players some breathing room. We've really run Pogba and Bruno into the ground since the restart.

I have a sneaky feeling that we're going to get a CB in in addition to Sancho, but the CB will be a lowkey signing, rather than a Koulibaily for example. I think the targets this summer were Sancho, a CM and a CB.

As someone pointed out Werner who was set to become Liverpool player but Liverpool didn't want to pay 50m for him. 30 m on 29 year old may as well be a no go for Liverpool this season.

Maybe just maybe he joins us. What a deal that would be especially if we get Sancho as well. Liverpool would be foolish to not go for him

With Pogba, Bruno, VDB, Matic, Fred and McT, this is our best crop of midfielders at the club since we had Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Anderson. I like it a lot.

Good signing. Good price. Nothing to complain about at all.
Cue some small-time team's midfield dominating ours as if they are peak Barca.. happens to us every time we think we have got the midfield sorted!

But in all seriousness, things are definitely looking better. I don't know much about DVB but Ajax is a proper footballing club and their players are technically sound. Blind was decent for us and DVB is much stronger and energetic than Blind. That's good enough for me!

Müller Light. (And that’s not meant as a alright whatsoever.)

Definitely strengthens our squad options, however. He could prove to be a shrewd piece of business. We are in dire need of movement and penetrating runs through the lines in the attacking third, and van de Beek ticks those boxes in abundance. Happy with this signing.

fecking hell Howard Nurse is on the ball. Surprised he's not confirming Blind to United.

for all the stick our board get for their poor negotiation, they deserve credit for how smoothly this one seems to have been done.

Seems Dortmund really might be the issue in the Sancho negotiations. As opposed to ‘useless woodward’ etc

Thiago, obviously.
A number 6.

Thiagoooo
I absolutely dream of Thiago playing for United, but with the potential signing of VdB, unless we sell one of our midfielders (rumours of Fred going on loan) then it just wouldn't make sense.

I'd say a left back.
Yeah, cover for Shaw, with Williams as back up to AWB would make sense. Not that it matter, but have we been linked to any left backs this window?

Agreed.

Who’d have thought it, Woodward and Judge aren’t idiots after all, despite the caf experts claims.

Happy with this even though I've seen him play less than a handful of times. Muppet season!

You are unfortunately right but 30m for a player in his final year who had history of injuries. I hope Liverpool see the light and dodge this transfer and Ed makes another blunder.
