So would I, but Thiago isn't happening. I suspect its Liverpool or no one else for him.Definitely, unpopular opinion but i would add McTominay to that list of players to ship out especially if we get Thiago.
He was our best backup until romero came. From what I remember, he was an alright backup wasn't he?
If not, our success rate has just dropped 25%.
That makes me old fashioned too but I would just be very surprised if we brought in another. I love being wrong though (good job really ... I often am).I’m just a bit concerned that we have only one player in the squad who I’d consider a classic defensive/deep lying midfielder, and that’s Matic. But I’m probably (hopefully) a bit old-fashioned in my thinking.
Based on the Sevilla game, Ole is already doing that with Fred too.It makes complete sense if the club are grooming Scott to be a defensive midfielder.
I thought he was a brilliant back up. I can never remember him letting us down. From what I remember, he was an alright backup wasn't he?
If not, our success rate has just dropped 25%.
He was a very good backup, played in the CL knockout stages for us and was always reliable when called upon. From what I remember, he was an alright backup wasn't he?
If not, our success rate has just dropped 25%.
Well you never know stranger things have happened. So would I, but Thiago isn't happening. I suspect its Liverpool or no one else for him.
Plus if we are selling Lingard, McT takes his role as senior youth mascot.
I think VDB spells the end for the Graelish to United move. They would both have occupied the same space in the squad, but like you said, Villa priced him out of it. He would have been a good signing, but definitely not at the prices mentioned. Agreed that it 's good we finally have enough options to allow not just Ole, but the players some breathing room. We've really run Pogba and Bruno into the ground since the restart.Lets remember we have a game every 3or4 days for 9 months!!! Let that sink in. We know how that intensity feels from post lockdown.
From what we learned in post lockdown games, OGS will always play 3 mf's, but alter according to weak team or big team. If we assume our best 3 is Matic, Pogba, Bruno, however, likelihood is they won't play together often due to type of opposition, injuries, rotation or form. For the first time, OGS has choices to pick bespoke midfield vis a vis his tactics and the opposition, whilst also having bench options that can maintain quality level or change tactics. Also great competition for places too.
Doesn't look like it needs Grealish either. Sad for him, but his club priced him out of a dream move.
Add Sancho for 3 from 4 up top
Dream would be a CB better than Lindelof to allow 2 from 3 centre backs and we are sorted.
As someone pointed out Werner who was set to become Liverpool player but Liverpool didn't want to pay 50m for him. 30 m on 29 year old may as well be a no go for Liverpool this season. So would I, but Thiago isn't happening. I suspect its Liverpool or no one else for him.
Plus if we are selling Lingard, McT takes his role as senior youth mascot.
Cue some small-time team's midfield dominating ours as if they are peak Barca.. happens to us every time we think we have got the midfield sorted! With Pogba, Bruno, VDB, Matic, Fred and McT, this is our best crop of midfielders at the club since we had Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Anderson. I like it a lot.
Good signing. Good price. Nothing to complain about at all.
If stone is in then done deal I guess!

And they're all using pounds instead of euros for the supposed price. Although I guess including bonus they could be rightAll the English journalists totally behind the curve with this one. Great to see.
Thiago, obviously.
I absolutely dream of Thiago playing for United, but with the potential signing of VdB, unless we sell one of our midfielders (rumours of Fred going on loan) then it just wouldn't make sense.A number 6.
Thiagoooo
Yeah, cover for Shaw, with Williams as back up to AWB would make sense. Not that it matter, but have we been linked to any left backs this window?I'd say a left back.
Agreed.for all the stuck out board get for their poor negotiation, they deserve credit for how smoothly this one seems to have been done.
Seems Dortmund really might be the issue in the Sancho negotiations. As opposed to ‘useless woodward’ etc
Yeah they are not doing a Werner this time I am absolutely certain about thatAs someone pointed out Werner who was set to become Liverpool player but Liverpool didn't want to pay 50m for him. 30 m on 29 year old may as well be a no go for Liverpool this season.
Maybe just maybe he joins us. What a deal that would be especially if we get Sancho as well. Liverpool would be foolish to not go for him
Means Bruno and Pogba can be rotated or rested without losing attacking impetus.Probably the least important to position to strengthen, but I'm always delighted to see new players.
You are unfortunately right but 30m for a player in his final year who had history of injuries. I hope Liverpool see the light and dodge this transfer and Ed makes another blunder.Yeah they are not doing a Werner this time I am absolutely certain about that
Ole probably spoke to him before Ed could. Can't be true Ole doesn't know shit about managing..
