How does a buy back clause like this work? Is there a fixed term after which it expires usually? Is it a certain number of years, or just until the first contract is finished? The player can obviously still choose not to return to the other club right?

For the way we play having a LB like Regulion who loves getting forward and can do it regularly would benefit us greatly. All our LW's like cutting inside so there's amples of space on the left side.

Where as I think Shaw is doing a good job, there's no harm in getting an even better 2nd option. I don't like Williams at LB purely as he wants to cut inside also, it just doesn't flow naturally. I'd switch him back to the right and have a natural left footer at LB, for fullback it's important.

Yep I have said this numerous times last season when Williams was still playing good at the start but this suggestion got dismissed completely, some even said his left footed cross was better than Shaw.

Many on here gets too carried away whenever a kid comes through the ranks.

Would love this transfer to happen. He is very good going forward, exactly what our full-backs lack. Him and Shaw as LB options are nice. Williams can be tried at RB as AWB cover.

It's stange as in the academy he used his left foot loads and he crossed really well with it. At first I genuinely thought he was left footed until I watched him some more. I guess the pressures of mens football makes him play safer as he rarely goes to the byline and crosses like that anymore.

He definitely has the ability which is the frustrating thing.

In most of his highlight he's cutting inside. Does he not have a good cross on him ? As we desperately need someone with that quality.

This would be a great signing if true. Williams is naturally right footed so is fairly limited at LB. He’s better as cover at RB. This also means that Dalot is out as well.

The fact there's some links here really gives me a lot of continued confidence in Ole's eye for recruitment

Our top linked targets this window have all been young and very promising players that would help any squad looking to take that next step.

The likes of Reguilon, VDB, Upamecano, Grealish and Sancho show me that Ole knows ball a lot more than many seem to want to give him credit for

Although I haven’t seen much of him in the academy but the space he gets and the quality of the opposition fullbacks should play a big role in this.

If we had fullbacks on both sides who the opposition were genuinely worried about on the ball....we could be so much better. Just watch some of the games back after lockdown. Teams weren't putting anyone out to close down or man mark Williams and AWB because they know they are both incredibly ineffective. That meant our better players who we actually want on the ball were often double teamed and snuffed out.

Shaw gets forward quite well but his final ball often isn't quite good enough. Wan Bissaka is light years away from what we need in that aspect in my opinion. Defensively i have no qualms with either but i think we need better players on the ball if we want to win the title again. Neither would get in the top 2's teams would they?

Still think we need a LB Shaw is much to injury prone and we need completion for places. I would love to believe this rumour but with Dalot still on our books I don't think there is anything in this.

I like Shaw but he isn't fit often enough. And Reguilon could give us 2008 vibes with a defensively solid RB (Brown and AWB) and an attacking LB (Evra and Reguilon).

I'd like him at the quoted price.

Williams has done ok but i'm not a fan of inverted full-backs. Reguilon would offer some natural width especially in a back 5 when Shaw has dropped in as the left-sided CB.

I've only seen a little of each, but if United (or someone else) gets Reguilon for around half the price of Chilwell to Chelsea, that's got to be considered a true bargain

AWB wouldn't get anywhere near a Guardiola team. Shaw would be good for them though if he could stay fit.
Normally I would agree - but when you look at their fullbacks when Walker isn't fit - yeah they would!

Would be a good purchase. Pushes Williams to the right and effectively gives more competition for both starting fullbacks. Also allows us to sell the dross like Dalot and Fosu Mensah.

Real Madrid have better so don’t need him that much, especially now when they are money-stretched due to pandemic

Totally Agree, I like the way things are going on. If we sign them or not its a different story but atleast we are being linked to right kind of players.

2013-2018, Really not good for us. Finally we are not only learning to get right players for right price(Bruno & VDB) but also on reasonable salaries.

Think that both Shaw and Wan Bissaka could get into City's team.
Shaw possibly as Mendy isn't up to much and is injured all the time. Wan Bissaka couldn't play in a Pep team mate. What are you smoking? You've got to be good on the ball to play for him. He isn't good enough.

Cancelo ??? You've got to be a better footballer than you are a defender to play for Pep. Wan Bissaka would look like a fish out of water in that City side.

Nope. Walker is terrible on the ball and he works

This is the one. It's a no-brainer. If Ole looks at why the season didn't end better, it is clear that we needed better cover for Shaw.

I think it’s obvious Ole wants Williams as RB cover so that will leave us bare at left back. Would make sense to get someone like this.
