Everyone blaming Madrid for the Bale situation.

Madrid signed alot of players last summer, then when Bale was about to leave they realised that they may still need him to play because Asensio got a long term injury.

Real might have been to blame but Bale is no angel. He has dis respected the club at every given opportunity.

They treated him like shit given the huge contribution he has given to the team over the years.

It's not uncharacteristic of them either.

Disrespect; you mean he had a view contrary to the clubs.. you do know slavery is outlawed

Zidane has treated him like that, but he is also paid 600k a week.

It is clear that he didnt fit the culture of the team and he decided that he rather spend his free time with his family.

Never heard a complain about Bale missing RM training or turning up late kind of disciplinary issues. So, other than on field performance, I don't really understand why RM fans are upset with him. May be I don't know the full story.

Bale did want to go to China and had all the personal details agreed. Then at the last minute Real turned around and tried to change the agreed deal, demanding a transfer fee as well.

Real expecting a fee for an incredibly highly paid player that they actively wanted out was worse than if we expected a fee for Sanchez (worse since Bale is on significantly higher wages AND Sanchez had gone on loan for 12 months and proved he was decent at the buying club). Not only that, but all the agreements were done with Real releasing him for free, then at the last moment changing their mind and wanting a fee as well. It was utter stupidity from the club, which I believe they've since admitted.

I suspect nobody but the Bale and Real Madrid camps know the truth behind that. Perhaps he eventually did, well knowing that he was on the outer at Madrid, but initially when it was mooted (if I recall correctly) he made it clear he wanted to stay. Didn't seem to be a case of the player agitating for a move but Madrid looking to cash in and send a player to China the manager decided he didn't want.

No sympathy for the club at all. If Bale had scored 50 goals and fancied a move back to the PL or to PSG, they'd have been demanding a fee and holding him to ransom because he was under contract. Can't have it all ways.

Seems he should be able to spend his free time with whomever he chooses. Like all footballers (and indeed any employee, anywhere) does.

No one says he can't. Sergio Ramos came out saying Bale was not interested in team building dinner's etc.. so you cannot blame Real fans either.

The grief we give Sanchez and Lukaku, they were still professional. Bale isnt.

I think you'd struggle to draw any kind of parallel between Bale's situation and slavery; either of the old or the modern day kind.

So, he got grief and you don't like him because he allegedly didn't go to dinner.

Am i dreaming, someone please poke me..

Sanchez struggled with playing football since day one, he was awful, and didn't integrate.. Bale has been great for RM

Lukaku was awful for us and dreamed of leaving from the day he arrived.

Im not sure your comparisons hold.

Gareth Bale is a world class player, with superb technique. If we could get him on decent wages and a low fee, he should definitely be considered. He has been uphappy for years, it's hard to motivate yourself when you are unwanted and badly treated for all the public to see.

Lukaku was a professional but bale is not? The fat lukaku who went to train with a different team and the bale who I’ve never seen reports of missed training

He's deluded and got a huge ego to think he is still worth the wages madrid pay him which has been the huge stumbling block of him moving to another club, he is not on the same level as ronaldo or messi to be demanding 500k a week with his injury record, age, loss of his biggest attribute (speed) and lack of first team football for over a season.

I didn't say anything about liking him..

Real Madrid is is a club that has done this previously, so you cannot be surprised about it.

I am just trying to point out that it isnt all Real's fault the same way it isn't all Bale's fault.

He has no ambition. He's happy to sit doing nothing collecting a pay packet at Madrid. He's exactly the mentality of player we need to avoid at all costs.

Fair point, but look at the United fans response towards Lukaku.. it is similar to Real's.

Loan with an option, rather than outright purchase. Also, during the loan we should be paying a maximum of 1/3rd of his wages. Same as Inter did with us over Alexis.

It's nothing to do with his ego - you are missing the point entirely. Would you willingly change jobs at a much reduced wage if you didn't have to?

It’s only a loan. Nobody is saying give him a 5 year deal like Sanchez. The real pitfall is if he ended up doing well and we decide to take him permanently on that contract then I’d go mental. As a stop gap it could be an inspired signing. He’s got something to prove after the last few years. He’s very well rested. He knows the league. He’s a leader. It’s not a bad punt if we aren’t covering all the wages

Yes, that is an aspect of integration in which he has failed, such as speaking Spanish, even if it was to satisfy the fans and the press, although to be fair Toni Kroos never goes to the team's dinners either.
He has always given the feeling of going a bit on his own . Perhaps that clashes with the spirit of commitment that Zidane asks for.
There are more episodes such as leaving Bernabéu before the end of the games, insisting on golf being so injury prone, as well as the Wales, golf, Madrid banner.

In any case everything is based on sports matters. The coach does not want him, and when he has played he has done it badly, both when Cristiano left and this last season.
If he has scored in finals is irrelevant. He can't live off what happened in 2017.

Bale has always come across to me as a quiet guy who is happy out of the limelight. I'd imagine that this would make him quite different to most of the big stars in RM and would probably make it likely that he just keeps himself to himself. It's a personality thing and doesn't mean he is unprofessional.

He hasn’t played left back for about 10 years

If he were to come in it would surely be on a loan where Madrid pay most of his wages and he’d be used up front like he is for Wales. He definitely shouldn’t be a Sancho alternative.

I’m not sure what your point is.

Has he played there previously? Yes.

Could he be used as an option to cover? Yes.

Would I play him there over anybody else? No.

I’d only sign him as a squad player and nothing else unless he turns up and is world class and makes dropping him an option.

Of course not. Nobody accuses him of that. He is going to train and has his character, although he played golf injured, I think @giorno remembers better when it happened. In addition, he could have missed some NT games at certain times.

I don't see how anyone can fault Bale. He has stated many times he wants nothing but to play for the club, it's Real/Zidane who have absolutely ostracized him...They had their chance to get rid and backed down. He has helped the team win many trophies, hence the contract was given. If they want to rid now then pay up or shut up.

I'm not sure how many of you would turn down 15 million a year (or however much it is), that you are rightfully owed. Especially from an employer who doesn't give a toss about you and has openly discarded you from the team.

Why?

Thanks feck he hasn’t - we’d be shit (or even shitter) without him.

Mental thing to write, even his pony-tail has achived more than you the last few years. He has won how many Champions League-medals now? The guy is a victim of his own success and being a bit weird at a place like Real Madrid, prouncing around looking like a yoga-fella and being hated by the fans for little reason. When wanting to leave, he is kind of trapped there for whatever reason unknown - for years now. He might have given up to a certain degree, but who can really blame him after scissor-kicking the ball to win the CL against Liverpool. Bale is a strange case, perhaps the strangest one in recent times, it’s a pity the world of football isn’t allowed to see him more often on the pitch.

I know the reason. He has no desire to continue playing at a top level. He’s wasted the last years of any talent he once had and is happy to pick up a pay check rather than moving on for a pay cut and trying to win more. He’s a waster! Just because he’s won a lot in the past doesn’t mean he’s now protected from criticism!

In Madrid he has had more than 30 injuries. If I'm not wrong in 2019 he was injured for more than a month, and as soon as he recovered he was called up to play for Wales, against Azerbaijan and Hungary, playing both games and getting injured shortly after his return. That's the last episode I remember, but there were others, in their worst injury moments, also related to his rush to play for Wales.

Loan deal would be a great short term solution possibly. Although Bale might lack motivation and get injured anyway.
Could join our central defenders in the treatment room and play some Golf with them. Could raise spirit and bring out the best in Phil Jones for 10 games.

Some strange opinions here. Bale would still be in the top 5-10 players in the league if he were to return

Lack of ambition? He’s clearly stated he tried to leave a couple of times and madrid went back on their word.

Yeah that is cool if he wants to see out his contract with real but this thread is in the transfer section of the forum with the gist of this thread being should united take a punt on him with either a loan if it was possible to get him at a super cheap price if he really is passionate about football and values happiness over money because no club in Europe is going to pay the same wages he gets currently at madrid.

Aren't Madrid the deluded ones asking for a fee on a player who gets 600k a week?
For sure, they should welcome the chance for any club to take him off their hands at this point for a small fee

He has, overall done well for Madrid. When he was flying they loved him. When they wanted rid, suddenly he's no good. Seems not wanting to go out socialising with his teammates wasn't a problem when he was in great form. When they want him gone to free up some wage space to sign the next galactico, Ramos, as the latest clubs mouthpiece has something to say.

Bale has been professional enough, for long enough to achieve a huge amount in the game. He struggled with injuries but when fit, works hard. You think he's unprofessional because he didn't want to go for dinner with his teammates and would rather spend time with his kids. Fair enough, but i think that's bollocks.

Real and the fans don't like him because he hasn't rolled over for them. Good for him.

If he really wants to play he would take a pay cut. And if Real really want him to leave they should let him go on a free and pay some of his wages. Like Real pay 150. Bale Takes 150 pay cut. Signing club pays 200 plus up to 100 based on performance targets. Everyone wins - Real get rid of a player that doesnt want to be there and saves 40 mill or so in wages. Bale still makes a sht load and gets to play and the signing club gets to reduce their risk

Kroos mentioned it before that the club had the chance to let him go last summer which Bale had agreement with the other club but they didn’t do it and forced Bale to stay due to their players being injured. As soon as the other players came back from injuries, Zidane had no interest in him anymore. Unprofessional treatment to the player as well imo.
