I don't see that tbh, I see two young lads bored out of their minds. Fair enough they should have followed the rules, but it must feel like house arrest. Doesn't scream arrogance or entitlement to me, at least based on what we've seen.
Im not absolving Southgate and his coaches from blame here either. These young lads should be rooming with senior pros. Whatever way you look at it, he has embarrased himself and our club. I am sure Ole is sick to feck of some of these players. Last summer we have Linz and his pals humping pillows, this year Maguire trying to get a part in Birds of a feather and now this.

How this thread has come to 16 pages I'll never know. He made a big mistake and got punishes. Not only a mistake but acted stupidly to say it mildly. Let's move on, helpfully it won't linger above his head the whole season and hopefully he'll learn from this.
Whole career is in front of him, potentially a brilliant one and it would be a shame if it will be marred by moves like this.

Feel like a lot of people are completely missing the issue with this story. They're putting the entire team at risk, both England and United. Clubs will be expected to exclude players from the side if they'res a risk they may be infected. These quarantine measures are as good as suspensions or injuries in how it will affect line ups. Clubs don't want to hear their players will be out for the start of the season because two of them on England duty couldn't keep it in their pants.

I know it’s up to the players who they wanna room with on away trips but our lad and Foden shouldn’t be roommates anymore in future England call ups and do stupid things. Get Marcus or Maguire to room with him in future

Thing is, he has also lost credibility and authority in this area.

They need a huge fine, public apology and hopefully feel a bit embarrassed about going against their coaches rules. That should be the end of it. Regardless of childish remarks, they are still young men with desires, however, this is not the time and definitely not the place.

As much as I disagree with all this bs and virus crap, they need to follow the rules.

Think Foden has come out with an apology. Don't know about Mason.

I think foden has, yeah. I think that Ole and the whole united family will be making sure Mason is in no doubt about his error before he comes out with his apology. They'll want to keep as much in-house as possible before going public I think.

Just chill mate. They made a mistake and will learn from it. Both seem like good lads.

Has not been a good pre season for United that's for sure . People need to stop making excuses it is clear we have players that are not behaving in a professional manner that you would expect of players from a top club .

I dont see Liverpool players getting into these situations . Ole needs to instill in the players that they need to behave better and not get themselves into these predicaments .

We are appearing in the front pages more than the back pages and that has to be a concern

Putting his teammates at risk during a deadly pandemic. Club needs to be strict: fine and ban for a month. It will be good for him in the long run.

Under a tree.
Jofra Archer has been fined the equivalent of a match fee (between £12,500 and £15,000) and received an official warning for breaking bio-secure protocols during the ongoing Test series with England and West Indies. He will be available for selection for the third Test pending two Covid-19 tests
I expect something similar, though this is worse, so maybe the club fine him a couple of weeks wages as well

Welcome to Manchester reception committee
On a serious note, does that mean that under Covid-19, footballers can’t even initiate a relationship? Those who are single, should spend their lives as single for the rest of unforeseen future?

Can we keep treating them like robots under Covid-19? Is it not a natural requirement of a human being to be with a partner?

I think footballers will soon get sick of living in that biological bubble and there will be more incidents like that in the future.
When they're travelling abroad they do it under an "elite sports" regulation. Basically that lets them avoid quarantine etc even if they travel to a country with a quarantine regulation, and means they don't have to self-isolate in the UK if they come back from a match in a "must quarantine on return" country.

In principle the England team don't leave the England bubble except for the match itself. Hotels etc are setup to avoid interaction. Hence interacting with the locals is a pretty serious football disciplinary offence. As it happens it's also an offence against Iceland's own quarantine rules.

Strict rules have been put into place so that international and club European football competitions can take place. All the players selected for matches will have been told the guidelines to adhere to, much like every individual has been told of the new rule book be it at work or school. We have all had to get used to the 'new' world and had our lives turned upside down. This entitled pair though think they are above the rules and quite rightly should be sanctioned by the FA and their clubs should at the very least be telling them now how they have to behave. What makes their crime worse though is the pair are from Manchester, they both are well aware of the restrictions placed on many who live in the region. I myself live in a town under stringent rules, I am not allowed to see one of my daughters at present and reluctantly abide by the rule. Its not hard to understand we are in the middle of a global pandemic, rules have been put into place to help keep us safe, especially the more vulnerable, obey the rules please so we can all return to a more normal life.
Forgot about that. That makes it triply bad. They simply have no excuse.

My Icelandic wife has translated a TV interview in Iceland with one of the girls

One girl had arranged to meet one of the players, and they had been in contact for several days and she was dropped off by her cousin,
the second player asked if she had a friend, so the cousin joined them.

Not clear from the Interview who was player 1 and player 2
But preplanned by one, and opportunist by the other.

Young people do dumb things sometimes but this is pretty bad. Firstly he's there in a professional capacity, Secondly a lot of people around the world has lost their lives as a result of this pandemic, so the rules are there for a very good reason. Very entitled behaviour regardless of age. Whatever the consequences are for Greenwood I hope they'll sting.

The girls are already giving interviews now?

One of the other stars or the likes of Yorkie or Becks needs to give Mason a crash course on discretion and how to play it smarter off the pitch...

Stupid stupid from both of them, especially given the pandemic situation.

I thought Foden had a partner and kid

Hopefully Ole will deal with Greenwood. Stupidly I thought he came across as quite sensible and down to earth.
I'd imagine Ole will have a meeting with him and deal with him internally the same way he dealt with the infamous J Lingz video last summer. Hopefully someone like Rashy can mentor him a bit. He needs to learn even though he's currently with England he's still representing United. I'd have thought they'd be desperate to toe the line as surely a senior England call up would have been worth the "sacrifices" involved with following the rules in order to play for them.

Wish these kids knew how lucky they are to be doing what they are doing.

just keep your head down! Focus on football, you get paid 1000s a week to play football. Do that.

you ain’t normal 18 year old kids. You can’t go around doing normal shit! You’re in a position of power and amazing fortune. Don’t be dicks! Do what you want when you retire at 35 with 1000000s in the bank... it’s a joke!

I’m not going through the thread naming and shaming but I read plenty of posts along the lines of “kids will be kids”. He’s a grown adult who’s behaved like an unprofessional idiot. And it’s obviously a worry if any member of our squad has a tendency to behave like an unprofessional idiot.
Bet you never did anything daft at 18 :)

I think Pogue was the guy who got bollocked by his wife after his young kids got worried because their dog had eaten THC from his coat pocket. Everyone fecks up. Especially when they're young.
