Its certainly annoying that every couple of seasons we seem to go back to the well for a player we chase all summer but is a bit unrealistic and we end up losing out and usually not having a good backup plan.

But last summer wasnt our big target Maguire? We got him. So its not all the time and its a bit unfair to talk like it is. I'm as frustrated as anyone because in my opinion its not at all hard to pick up some good players for good prices and improve the team without wasting money. I mean thats part of someone's extremely well paid job... They should be okay at it... Thats what concerns me more than if we chase Sancho and then dont sign him. The fact that many smaller transfers that would have helped us do better next season have been missed and maybe thats not the end of the world if you sign the best right winger in the world. But if you miss him as well you've well and truly cocked up

So Maguire, Di Maria, Pogba, Bruno, and Lukaku we have gotten in past years which were our big targets. We have lost out on I think Kroos, Griezmann, De Ligt and now likely Sancho. I am not counting the first window as that was a clusterf*** all over. I would say that is an average return in terms of main big targets, not disastrous.

Would make sense for them to at least ask about Smalling. He has history there, however brief, and could maybe consider moving back for sentimental reasons. I’m sure they can pay up the 20mill we ask for aswell.

Really? Surprised at that valuation from Wolves, unless they desperately need the money. They did sell Doherty for cheap, but the signing of Silva was significant enough.
