I'm talking about DDG being clearly stood off his line.

What happened last year is irrelevant to me saying it's the right decision today.
Right, when that’s pretty much what every keeper does in almost every penalty?

Whatever man, we’re never gonna agree so we’re gonna have to disagree (which is a shame because Berbas should stick together )

In the meantime I invite you to watch Gabrielle handball with no penalty given. Not going to discuss this natural motion any further with you since we'll never agree.
I'm watching the match and have seen it. Should be a penalty, what do you want me to do about it?

Not sure how you can give that penalty against Lindelof and then not that one against Gabriel an hour later. It’s a farce

They're being stricter about enforcing it this season apparently.

It's possible to defend like that when you are facing the ball which is what Lindelof does. Much harder when you are running full spend constantly moving directions to match the striker.
honestly that was just a throw away observation that I made in that it was ironic that he gave away a penalty for that.

The penalty roll-back was so ridiculous that we're not even mentioning how Rashford was straight up elbowed in the head with Atkinson not even thinking it was a foul. I mean, if you can't apply the simplest rule in the book, ie that elbowing someone in the head isn't allowed, then what hope is there for you in terms of any other decision?

How do you expect those guys to understand and apply something as complex as a handball rule and understand that you can't rake someone's achilles with your studs to the point that you take their shoe off?

They're all just shit and make it up as they go along. Now they're all onto the "United got a lot of pens" agenda and are trying to make up for it, because when United get decisions it's a national talking point but when United get shafted nobody bats an eyelid.
Spot on. Absolutly spot on.

You can find better refs in Greenland and Antartica than what we have. Absolutly shocking how bad it is. They should all resign and let a dog or lemur take care of games.

That's fair enough then, if it was briefed in the summer break.

He's off his line, but pretty much every penalty save I remember seeing recently the keeper was off his line. I do hope there is consistency with applying this, but I am very doubtful.

This, if they go on to be consistent I’m okay with it, or if they do that thing where they drop it after 3 weeks then I’ll be fuming.

Gabriel's wasn't a penalty on seeing it again.

No it wasn’t. Just because someone draws an imaginary drawing to justify the indefensible doesn't make it right. The new rule says shoulder is not handball. I don’t know how one can argue that the ball hit Gabriel’s shoulder than arm??

Because you can see that it did hit his shoulder and not his arm...

That looks like arm rather than shoulder to me

The first penalty claim was a stonewaller too. Fair to say whoever's in the VAR room for this is an Arsenal fan :wenger:

They have introduced a new rule showing where the shoulder stops and arm starts. I think it's within the new limit.

Hmm. I mean the ball is literally where the sleeve on his shirt ends. I've never known that to be considered shoulder but fair enough.

This is one of the biggest issues for me, it’s all subjective, one day the Var “overlooker” will say yes and then the next match it’s someone else and they say no. It’ll be an interesting season in terms of penalties and goalkeeper encroachments.

The new rule considers handball to start from the bottom of the armpit. Everything above is fine. I think it's really close in that instance, and I think the two angles are inconclusive.

Just hearing about the new regulations, sounds like hand ball and penalty retake were the correct decisions.

Players and fans are just going to adjust and get used to it.

This is the actual IFAB 20/21 rules page regarding handball. Interesting it says "it is an offence even if the ball touches a players hand/arm directly from the head/body/foot of a player who is close"

I just don't think you can argue lindelofs arm is in an unnatural position that makes him bigger. He is literally running as naturally as a person can

If De Gea’s penalty save is the new standard for penalties being retaken this season and the rule is consistently applied, there’s surely going to be stacks of penalties retaken. Unless every keeper has been briefed by their coaches and changed their penalty saving style. Seemed incredibly harsh to me. Not seen another penalty saved this season tbf.

Never a penalty. Absolutely pathetic. Killing the game when an hour later an actual penalty isn’t given because sleeve. They gave one against Bailly though.

It's at shoulder height.
Its perfectly in keeping with his run. If Atkinson didn't give it for that reason not even Hodgson would claim it. There wasn't even a claim, and separately its not at that height

I don't think it is to be honest. It certainly isn't "above/beyond shoulder level" at any rate, which is what's stipulated in the ifab page you just posted.

I think his hand is high enough to warrant the penalty.

If you watch it live it clearly hits towards the end of the sleeve, almost near the elbow. Even with the new rules I wont call it hitting the shoulder.
More pertinently, why did they bring this new definition? Its provides no more clarity than before and is rather pointless.
