keep Ole for sure. This shouldn't be a topic every time we lose a match! The work he's done since taking over is excellent. He hasn't got the support needed in the transfer market especially this year.
Ole has built character into the team. Last year, especially after the long break, I felt that I actually enjoy watching united play. Something not experienced since SAF days!

Ole is building right with the right mentality and culture. He surely won the dressing room, we have players who actually want to play for the manager.

We lost today because of lack of match fitness, the players looked lazy, and because of terrible terrible defending (especially Lindelof).

We saw at the end of last season that there is a clear way of playing that, whilst obviously not guaranteed to beat us, will give teams a good foundation for doing so. I think we also saw that Ole can struggle to adapt to this and effect matches in game with subs, tactical changes etc.
We shouldn't need to sign Sancho to beat Palace. On paper, our current squad should be able to manage this. We have the personnel. Today's loss was about training, coaching and tactics.
This is not me saying we should sack OGS. I think we suffered somewhat from starting a week later. The Board do need to back him - if you stand still with your squad - by making little to no additions - you're effectively moving backwards.
It was one game and it was crushingly disappointing, let's move on quickly.

There is a thread to discuss the sacking of a manager after finishing 3rd last season and after 1 game of a new season. Yeah it’s a stupid thread.
This thread predates that. He has a squad that's capable of bettering Leicester, and capable of better points than last season. Undoubtedly he deserved time after finishing 3rd, but now, he is in his second full season and will be under immense pressure to better his concistency.

If he doesn't, hel be out. This thread is opportune as now will be crunch time for him, and rightly so.

Ah right, it’s Oles fault that we finished our season 3 weeks later than the rest of the league & there was a 10 day international break when we were supposed to be starting pre season? I suppose he just shouldn’t have let the players have any time off whatsoever and then banned the players meeting up with their countries?
He is responsible for ensuring we have the best chance of winning matches. If he can't do it, he should step aside. City are in the same position as us, just watch what a proper coach does in this situation and how he sets his team up.

Glazers and Woodward are a problem no doubt. That doesn't excuse the fact that Ole can't even beat a significantly lesser talented team at home.
He beat Pep Guardiola 3 times last season who has also lost at home to Crystal Palace I might add.

My anger isnt really just based off today. I had to give my ST up 5 years ago because I couldn't bare giving them another penny. They are killing this football club.

Poch, Simeone, Nagelsmann etc would sink just like the others.

Ole's mistakes in my opinion

A- He keeps insisting on Lindelof-Maguire who are the slowest pair of CBs I've ever seen in my life. He's not at fault of having Lindelof but he's certainly at fault spending 80m on Maguire whose quite frankly nowhere near to WC and is painfully slow
B- He chased Smalling out of the club. Mike isn't WC but he's strong, he's great in air and he's rapid. He would have complimented Maguire far better then Lindelof did
C- He played McT ahead of Fred. I don't know what the guy has on Ole but McT is nowhere near as good as Fred is
D- He played Pogba ahead of VDB.Ole himself said that Pogba is not fully fit. So why play him? Haven't we learnt anything from last season?
E- He played James. James unique quality is pace. That requires space. Crystal Palace were always going to park the bus so James's pace would have been not effective. I know it worked last time round but he was the new boy at the club. Everyone know James now and his one trick

Wanted a journalist to ask Ole what he told Andy Mitten after losing to Palace last year "97 times out of 100 we win the game" he said.

I wonder if he'd seriously argue 2 consecutively is just a coincidence.

My honest feeling is that Ole will never be good enough to manage a club of United's demands, but the Glazers are doing everything they can to rectify that issue by lowering our standards year upon year.

Ole has done some good things with the squad but I am losing faith that he has any ability/interest in coaching any kind of pattern play or coordinated way of playing.

Keep of course, what's the point in changing again? This team sucks and no manager can fix it.

stealing a living. Just like Jones, and Rojo.
That's unfair.

The guy has some good ideas and he's a great man manager. However he's ridiculously inexperienced and that's shown in terms of tactics. He needs help. I'd say give Sir Alex a seat at board level, VDS as football CEO with Woodward as business CEO and Rangnick as DOF. That would mean surrounding the guy with experienced people who can help him out. Also add the players that he wants as long as they make financial sense. Jadon makes sense for example Grealish on 70m and Maguire on 80m did not.

Jesus Christ. We’ve had feck all pre season, we’ve got one player in when every one including the squad knows we need a left back and a centre back. If ole left tomorrow he would leave the club in a far far better position he found it in. If that doesn’t answer the question, nothing will

True. However that doesn't take away the fact that he is ridiculously inexperienced which is sometimes exposed in his tactics. I'd say surround him with experience and back him accordingly. He needs it.

Rather than reopening voting in this thread we should start a new thread with a poll titled as "Would you sack or keep Woodword?"
That would be like starting a thread asking if it would have been worth it snuffing out Hitler as a baby.

Multiple things, lots of them involving needles.

Alongside the fact his board went out and got the players he wanted rather than pissing about letting him down, as well as already having two players for every position giving him the freedom to rotate.

But I suppose that’s Oles fault as well? What an embarrassment of a fan base this forum has.

When you put it like that and compare it to what we have in place, its makes a compelling case. (though I doubt SAF is physically upto that task)
The football side of our 'business' is comically short of know how and experience.

Yeah it predates that by a lot, but the whole thread itself has turned into a complete cesspit. Every bad result and it gets bumped, and as a result Ole gets judged by a game to game basis which is absurd. Bolded as point:

Squad that is capable of not just beating Leichester, we beat City 3x last year. So we lost today against a much worse team than City. Why? Did our players turn shite? Ole told them to play shite?
We both know its a lot more complicated than that

At the end of the season when Ole gets fired you will realise this thread was right all along. Until then we will all watch the same shit week in week out.

We can keep sacking managers, like Liverpool did, and we’ll get the occasional trophy. Ole will get us a trophy now and then as well. However, we won’t be serial winners again, like Liverpool are now, untill we restructure the club, top to bottom. New owners, new sporting director, new manager, sport science department or sports analytics department are some of the areas that we should improve going forward, in order to catch up with the best. The owners are not a problem per se, but they need to make changes to club structure for that to be true.
Sacking the manager now will only do so much if that’s all we do.

There’s absolutely no chance of that happening. Not that it’s not a decent shout (apart from SAF) but because Glazers would never let this become a primarily a football club. We might actually make some footballing decisions which aren’t necessarily good financial ones.

I voted to keep him in the job but losing 3 goals against a team who NEVER score 3 goals in any game never mind away to us is beyond shocking. I'm genuinely troubled by today's score line :(

And we’ll be into the same cycle of a board doing enough to get a manager into the top 4, then a summer of letting them down and sacking the manager when they drop out of the top four.

The thread is a disgrace and you’re also a disgrace in your smugness about wanting the clubs manager out instead of looking at the real issue.

Under soil heating.
Today was caused by most of our first team being knackered and not up to speed coupled with Palace having had more proper preparation as a group and the few fringe players that stepped in (McTominay, James, TFM) simply not being good enough.

We looked a lot better when VDB came on, he should have started, even though I can see why Ole was hesitant to do it. The same for Greenwood, who is also knackered and obviously had a shit time recently. I could see today's result coming a mile off though. Sadly the board didn't.

Personally I don't think Ole is good enough no matter what and I said that last season even when we were winning most weeks but I'm more pissed off at those above him at the moment. I'm interested to see what he does for the next game, I hope he drops De Gea, don't think he has the balls to do it though.

The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. Woodward is obviously a specialist in failure who has no business running a football club, much less one of the biggest in the world. And Ole could in the end be Cardiff/Molde, but not United quality.

This. There is plenty of talent in this team to comfortably beat Palace. I'm tired of everyone always blaming Ed for Ole's shortcomings. Ole deserves some criticism. Ole isn't getting it done vs the bottom half, and in particular the bottom 5 of the EPL. This isn't a lack of talent issue when you drop 13 points to the likes of West Ham, Villa, Watford and Bournemouth. It is a managing issue.

Ole NEEDS to be held accountable. Too many people are in denial and like to blame Ed as the reason for all of Ole's shortcomings. Look, Ed is terrible at his job and he needs to go, but there is still way too much talent on this team to be dropping so many points vs the bottom half of the table. And that is Ole's fault, not Ed's. Both need to go.
Couldn’t agree more.

What exactly is the point of sacking him if he's not gonna get the opportunity to bring the players he wants to the club?

If he had a Frank Lampardesque window sure but now?

Yes, the selection today was shit, but that is because the squad is fecking shit.

Blame the board, not Ole. We are stuck in an eternity loop until they decide to back the manager.

He could be in the end, but this club has also made LVG & Mourinho look Cardiff/Molde level managers, at some point the penny has to drop where the issues are.

The players being recommended by Solksjaer are clearly the right type of players both in quality & mentality, more so than those of the previous managers, so he should be backed. We’ve all known how weak the squad is, the manager has been crying out for players and they’ve given him one player.
