Transfer window opens:
"We should sell Lingard, he is shite player offers nothing except moonwalkin"

News Jose wants him:
"He is good squad player, better than Mata, Pereira, James, he contributes, we will need players come November"

And come November, when you see Lingard in the starting line up...?
1. Throw up
2. Smash remote control into you TV set
3. Start 3947 threads with "Ole out" in title
4. Bitch and moan, huuuuge meltdown in the match thread
5. All of the above

Are you seriously worried about who could take Lingard's place in the squad? I would be happy just to get him of our books.

Anyone can be a body on the field, its not just numbers its quality we need. Lingars doesnt have it and should have been gone a long time ago.
Is that quality going to come from Mata, Pereira or Dan James? We'd all love to ship out 10 players but we can't sell 10 and buy 2.

I think Lingard should leave, just as Smalling did. They are too good as players to be denigrated by idiotic United fans.
Totally agree with this. He may not be 1st XI standard for a top 3 team, but there should be ample space for him in our squad, and he should be used as a squad player getting 25-30 games. However, something has gone wrong between him and OGS last season, so it's best he leaves.

I hope he gets a move to Spurs: they are an exciting project again with their new signings and Mourinho will have exacting plans on how to use him; most likely as the pivot around which Son, Kane and Bale will play. If Bale and Lingard can get close top their top form, that will be devastating on the counter attack, and will play to Lingard's strengths. If that all works, Spurs will seriously threaten United place in top 4.

Meanwhile, unless, Woodward can produce Sancho, United can look forward to Pereira and Mata.

If our board were proactive in actually signing players you may have had a point.

No, its not comming from them. But wanting to keep Lingard because lack of depth is like wanting to keep Jones and Rojo for the same reason. We need to ship out deadwood, If we end up playing kids well then so be it. Better give minutes to youngsters than persist with nothing players like Lingard.

So we have finally found a buyer for Lingard, so now suddenly people making excuses for him to stay.

He can go and become Messi for all I care. He has been atrocious every single time he has played in last 2 years ( bar few games here and there).

Seriously anyone, doesnt make a difference. Lingard played around like 1,000 minutes last season. Its not as if he's a regular, he was used as a sub and did a horrendous job.

Cant believe people are actually wanting to keep him just for the sake of depth? He's on more wages than Bruno FFS let that sink in.

It’s more a case of doubting he’d be replaced. Nobody will turn down selling him and buying someone better. Many would turn down selling him and giving more minutes to Pereira and Mata. Shouldn’t really be too hard to grasp that concept.

Well for start we are full of deadwood so we could play James, Mata or Pereira there and wouldnt get worst performances. But if you want youngsters then play someone from the U23s like Traore or Elanga.

Seriously its Lingard we are talking about, his contribution is close to zero.

There are some sentimentalists on here and in the world in general.

Its best to respect their opinion and agree to disagree.

Ask any fan from the rest of the teams in the premier league. They will give you an honest opinion about Lingard. That he is not good enough for Manchester United. Ask the same question to some United fans, he is this and that, attacking midfielder and all that.

And when you actually watch him and check his stats, nothing adds up. Best to ignore them and judge Lingard based on what you see rather than what they tell you they see.

We didn't even select him in 18 last game despite him being fitter than a lot of player who started. He is finished at Manutd.

Personally this just reaks of an agent pushing shit into the paper to try and get a move for his player. I've no doubt Lingard is being offered to lots of clubs at the moment, Spurs being one. I'll be stunned if there is any genuine interest from Spurs.

I can see it. He's a team player, he works hard, he was solid under Mourinho and bought into his plans. I still think Lingard could be a very good squad player for a big club, but he needs a change of scenery which will help him to mature (for lack of a better word) a bit. I think he'd be decent at Spurs and I think this has substance.

We dont need a decent squad player though - Jose has said just today that we have too many players in the squad so bringing in Lingard makes no sense at all. Where would we play him anyway? We will have Son - Kane - Bale up front with Lucas,
Bergwijn and Lamela as backup. This is a total nonsense of a story.

If we sell Lingard, I will celebrate for 3 days. He is useless. Please stop with this shit "he is good squad player." Championship is his level, and if we actually sold him season or two after that he will be on the bench for team fighting to avoid relegation.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Lingard was actually decent-to-good for most of his time under Mourinho, so maybe he thinks he can get him back to that form. It was really only last season under Ole that he fell away so drastically.

It's unlikely and I doubt it'll actually happen, but perhaps not as laughable as I first thought.

I hope Lingard stays and proves this forum and most others wrong.
There is a top player in him no doubt about it. Although he has only shown it for 1.5 seasons pretty much.

If Spurs are in for him, absolutely sell him. There's no reason to think twice. He has no business being here, and maybe playing in London will reignite his career or something, beside Mourinho really seemed to be the only manager who managed to get anything out of him here, so might work for him. Win-win for both parties.

Sell please.

Utd gave Lingard a new 4 year £100,000 per week (£21m) In May ...can’t see Spurs paying him that. Unless they can buy him cheap.

Edit: i was wrong !!

What? His contract is expiring next year. We extended a bunch of players this and last year like Jones but Jesse signed his contract in '17.

Would be laughable signing for Spurs. Makes me grateful Mourinho isn't here anymore.

Jose is lying he wants Dele out and said what he needed to say to the press
I have no idea why he would want Lingard though maybe its English quota if you sell Dele and Im not convinced he rates Lemela or Lucas for that matter

Unbelievable that anyone can think Lingard is good enough to be at Utd. Never was and never will be.

If woodward manages to sell him to spurs for anything over £20m, it will be the best business he’s done since being Manchester Utd CEO.

Lingard on a good day is miles better than 75% of the rest we've released over the past few years (which probably shows shite our transfer activity has been but still). I wish him well but i would hate to see him strengthen a potential direct rival - if only in depth. Just like Zaha - he ll likely show up every time they play us and get punished.
