Why are people talking about Ismaila Sarr possibly coming to us? Are they creating imaginary scenarios in their head and making them seem real, or is there something going that I'm not aware of?
Hes been linked as a Sancho alternative

Miguel Delaney linked us and he wasn't in the squad at the weekend. Could be nothing. Could be everything...

His next tweet suggests Sancho.

I do think that this notion may have prevented the deal already. It’s been widely reported/suggested that we try to haggle and then end up paying it.. There is no win for Woodward and the board in this now. Even if they get it done, they’ll rightly be questioned on why it wasn’t done sooner. If they don’t, they’ll rightly be questioned on why we’ve passed up the opportunity to sign a generational home grown talent

I thought that there could have been something else besides Delaney's report. Why are several fans taking his word on this when no one else with a bit of reliability has reported this (not even Jason Burt, Mike McGrath, or Jamie Jackson)?

McNulty doesn’t know anything. He’s just taking the piss.

McNulty is a twat, but I don't think he's wrong. Feels like we'll continue the trend of overpriced star we'll struggle to offload in 2 seasons.

Yes i’m not convinced on Sarr. To United that is, not the player’s potential as i know next to nothing about him

If we somehow miraculously land Sancho then we will not be looking to offload him in two seasons.

Perhaps, but surely there would be more of an uproar across our fanbase and the media if we didn't sign Sancho at all?

No doubt! After being so confident Sancho would happen, I'm not really anymore, though.
Who do you think it would be though? Bale was the obvious one we could all potentially see coming.
Hard to say, really. Maybe Sorloth, maybe Sarr, maybe some other right wing or striker option out there. Neither of them are necessarily bad options, per se, I just think like the tone of McNulty's first tweet - we could/might end up paying over the odds and the player not living up to that [understandable] price-tag and the media scrutiny being too much.

I think it's the eerily quiet nature about his future, we loaned Garner to Watford, so people are trying to connect dots. For what it's worth, I'm not sure we're in for him, but ive been shocked in the past.

If it's based on the quietness behind his future, then it's because there hasn't been much activity for him. His agent denied any and all activity a while back, and journalists who are aware of the situation have mentioned that Dortmund have yet to connect with any club on Sarr.

Who is that ‘star’ though? Not sure one is available.
That also depends on whether Ole would want an alternative. So far, all signs point to him wanting Sancho and Sancho only. If he was open to someone else, the club would surely have been more active in the transfer market. We've been offered players like Perisic and Douglas Costa, but I guess Ole isn't keen on them.

If he does only want Sancho he better hope he is still in the job and if he is that we actually get him. Dortmund think they will get the same money, but who knows what the future holds for football. If the price does drop there will be a few more takers.

No because he will pay for the full asking price which he should have done at the very beginning. Then he would be available from the beginning of the season.
fans need to stop reading things in the media as gospel.

At no point this summer have we ever known where the negotiations are up bar what the media say.

If it is completed, we will never know the true figures, whether that is the transfer fee or the wages.

We know nothing and the media report what they want because they know that it’ll get lapped up

We ‘know’ how much Dortmund want and will get for Sancho if sold. We ‘know’ we have been interested for months. So its pretty obvious if we buy him we have paid the full asking price.

If we have 120 million but don't want to pay that for one player and that amount is available to us then why not go for Telles 20 million, Sarr 40 million and Upemcampo for 60 million. That would make a huge improvement and improve squad depth.

Dare I say it but Liverpool didn't go for the finished article when they started building their team Winaldum, Robertson and Mane were all developed.

No idea. He’s also not very good.
