Selling Martinez if they go for Aguero I guess? City will have a really tough task replacing him. I can see them going in very hard for Haaland.

This makes nil sense, we get £2M, pay his wages for the year, so save, what, 2-3M and we can still sell him at the end of the season for decent money, even to Everton.
It's probably because the club think that they can indeed get more than that in the form of a transfer fee. Given that he's in the final year of his contract, he'd become a free agent after a loan spell anyways. United want to make more off of him given how good he's looked for us in recent years.

It could be something on Brentford's end that's pissing off Benrahma and causing him to fall out.
Or even more likely is that Benrahma's agents are pushing for a better deal and West Ham are playing hardball and briefing their connected journo at the Mirror the deal is in danger of collapsing.
