Brilliant, let's hope he can keep this up and less of the erratic stuff as well.

needs to do it for a big longer. But, yes I hope so too. Maguire/ Bailly is proving to be an excellent partnership. On paper it always looked like it should work.
Yeah, always made sense in theory and was the pairing I preferred to see develop, even if the caf switched on him after that PSG gane. Happy that we're finally getting more than a glimpse of it.

Frees up a lot of funds in the summer if we don't have to scramble for another starting CB, but we'll have to see if he's turned a corner injury-wise first.

Best centre-back at the club
he’s not. It he’s a very good partner to the best CB at the club (as long as he stays fit, doesn’t get sent off, do a Bailly and can learn to head the ball...).

if he puts in these performances in for 3 months, then we can reevaluate. Happy he’s playing well.

6 clean sheets in 10 appearances, we feel much, much more solid now. I'm enjoying it while I can but there's always that nagging feeling he'll get injured. He's shown us exactly what an athletic and proactive defender can do alongside Maguire, no disrespect to Lindelof but his style of defending doesn't suit the PL, in my opinion. A front-foot, aggressive approach is much more rewarding in this league.

I don't think we even need to re-evaluate, we should just be scouring the market for someone with similar qualities to Bailly, who isn't made of glass.

He's a really good CB and always has been. Injuries and moments of rashness have always held him back.

Bailly has been great so far apart from the Spurs game. You can just tell what we are missing from Lindelof. The pace and the commitment trying to put your body on the line, we are missing that when Lindelof is playing. Lindelof has been good but he’s not what we need in our starting CB. I dare to say if we play Bailly against Sevilla, that Sevilla second goal last season would not happen because you know Bailly will go towards the ball to clear it, he wouldn’t just letting the ball went past him.

if you can get Bailly with Maguire’s resilience, heading and composure then you have a world class player. Not sure if he’s out there though...

Maguire looks more comfortable knowing that Bailly has the pace to cover him. If he can stay fit and remove the erratic parts of his game then he'll be a big player for us between now and the end of the season.

When you see his performances against Wolves and tonight, it's hard to envisage that calamitous side to his play that has existed over the last few years. I don't know if its through coaching, or having Maguire beside him, but long may his improved performances continue.

The good game aside, I guess we have debunked the myth that Bailly equals we play a high line?
He's not single handedly transformed the way we play so no but his individual ability means we have more moments of a sustained progressive and higher line, which is what most people have been saying/wanting. If Burnley pressed us harder than I would have expected to see more cracks but that's just an overall fundamental issue with the coaching. No one's been hailing Bailly as the saviour, rather that he has obvious qualities ahead of someone like Lindelof.

Remember your comment about Bailly only geting praised in Caf? If you watched the Sky Sports commentary, Neville said a few times he's a much better fit for Maguire and has been very good. Not that Neville's words are anything to go by.

To me Bailly's form vindicates pretty much all the criticism many of us have over Lindelof.

Again, let's not get too excited because it may be short lived but I'll liked to get used to this.

He’s better than Maguire for me. Need to find a partner for Bailly rather than a partner for Maguire. He cleans up after Maguire way too often, and it’s kinda weird to expect him to be able to always do it.

Bailly was so concentrated in the last phase of the game when burley started to have a go on us. Amazingly athletic!

Partner for Bailly  like if he can stay fit in the first place. We are praying right now for Bailly to stay fit, next season we aren’t going to take a gamble again to pray he will stay fit. That’s why the topic has been finding partner for Maguire.

In no way should he be dropped for Victor vs. Liverpool.

Nothing against Lindelöf, but Bailly has a) been great and b) is clearly such a compliment to Maguire.
Has to start Sunday , love the way he throws his whole body at the ball.

Maguire played the most minutes of any footballer in the world in 2020.

consistency and being on the pitch is incredibly important. At the moment, Bailly hadn’t got close to consistency. I hope the current run is a change, but to say he’s better than Maguire is as premature as a 14 year old boy in a lingerie department.

I don’t know why you’re quoting me as if my opinion is up for debate. Ain’t nobody trying to hear this shit.

Another clean sheet with the Bailly and Maguire partnership. I believe that’s the 9th out of 12 games they’ve played together where we’ve kept a clean sheet now.

Consistency is a different matter. But when it comes to ability, Maguire doesn’t even come close to Bailly based on ability. Bailly’s ability has never been in doubt. It’s his mental state and injury proneness that has been the problem.

Aside from staying fit is there any other trait Lindelof has over Bailly ?

(Lets ignore the Spurs game)

If it’s just based on ability, then we should be playing Ravel Morrison on the right. Ability is just one of the qualities needed to be a top player.

Save for the brain farts and average aerial ability.

He has been excellent and makes Maguire look better, so hopefully can iron the kinks out of his game.
Yes, sir. Agreed. Somehow the backline looked more compact and better. Maguire has been really good, and AWB looked improved too.
