I thought so too. Even the donkey comment. A lot of white people constantly compare black people to animals - not good to hear.
And lots of white players have been called a donkey. It’s an insult aimed at the lack of finesse, not race.

‘Voodoo shit’ is racist, no doubt about it.

Everything is racist nowadays. Can't believe some of you.

But yeah, I wonder what caused it. Lukaku was fuming, so I'm sure Zlatan said something out of line. Lukaku is never that irate.

Zlatan and Lukaku got along because they were both Riola clients. Lukaku dropped Riola and Zlatan clearly hasnt taken it too well.

edit: Lukaku is annoying and overrates himself.. but make no mistake. Zlatan is a colossal prick .. always has been . If someone is at fault here, my money would always be on Zlatan.

Hard to agree that it's clearer with the announcer talking over it. I'd say it's less conclusive that it's wooden shed in this version.
Around 13 seconds I thought he clearly said 'do your vodoo shit'

'Call you mom, go to wooden shed' doesn't make much sense.

He said Vodoo shit, it's more clearer in this video.
Lukaku seems to say come inside, bi**h something something and Zlatan clearly sounds like saying "Call your mother. Do your voodoo s**t"
Then a few little donkeys and some more about the voodoo s**t.

In the end Lukaku says feck you and your wife and then last part is not really audible if he says shoot you in the head, but something of that sort.

I am not sure there is a racist angle to it. Sounds like Zlatan believes (or knows) the tabloid news to be true.

You could argue "Vodoo shit" is racist but donkey certainly is not. It's an insult for being stupid. I personally can't exactly tell what he said, Zlatan is not known for his manners and humbleness so it would not surprise me whatever he said.

Would Zlatan be reading tabloid news?
They had the same agent -> That's where he probably heard it from
Raiola is probably still angry Lukaku dumped him.

I mentioned tabloid news because everyone calls that like that. And Lukaku denies it. So no one really knows.

Anyways, Zlatan believes it and thought it would trigger Lukaku. And it seems like it does :D

No offense, but based on a bunch of years of hearing Ibrahimovic speak, “wooden shed” doesn’t seem like something that would be part of his lexicon

he speaks English, but it’s broken English in many instances because understandably he doesn’t have the best vocab. To me, it’s 10x more likely he said “voodoo shit” than “wooden shed”

guy even said “call your mother and do your...“

no way he said “wooden shed”, I’m sorry.

Sorry I am confused. Can someone explain to me how "voodoo shit" is racist? I thought racism referred to skin colour not religious beliefs.

Lukaku's skin colour is the only reason people are accusing him of practicing voodoo.

Under the roof, above the clouds
Swedish papers are writing he said ”call your mother and do your voodoo shit”
One paper even claiming Zlatan said it was not racist.

From aftonbladet :

google translate :
The comment was accused of being racist but Zlatan denies that was the case. He says he is instead referring to an earlier event from Lukaku's time at Everton when he turned down a contract proposal from the club due to a voodoo message. However, that was not the case, says Lukaku himself.

I thought that there were previously reports that he did actually practice voodoo. I don't believe that voodoo is exclusive to any race although it might be more prevalent in some. Personally the wife comment is more offensive to me than anything Ibra said. I would be amazed if Ibra was done for this.

Im not sure why Lukaku wants to shag Ibra. Ibras wife sure i get it it. Either way, not sure how Lukakus wife/partner feels about that.

Clearly its "Call your mom and do your voodoo shit". Funnily enough I think its the reference to his mom that upsets Romelu the most.

Yes, it originated with a racist lie, then other people (maybe or maybe not including Zlatan) repeated it. That's how it goes.

Would you say "call your mom and do your vodoo shit " to a white man? Or is it just " funny " because he's black?

Some people want to turn everything in to racism now days. It was obvious meant to push his buttons based on the Everton situation.

I find some people here trying to find a racist angle somehow. They look desperate for it.
I personally think Zlatan was refering to that Moshiri claim. They both were together at United at that time so knows each others inside stories well.

It's because it was based on a racist and stupid comment by Farhad Moshiri. He said when Lukaku left Everton...

“We offered him a better deal than Chelsea and his agent came to Finch Farm to sign the contract, Robert [Everton’s chief executive] was there, everything was in place, there were a few reporters outside, then in the meeting Rom called his mother. He said he was on a pilgrimage in Africa or somewhere and he had a voodoo and he got the message that he needs to go to Chelsea.”

Lukaku is a practicing Catholic and has nothing to do with voodoo at all he threatened to sue Moshiri.

It was clearly derogatory and said because he is black, no one would say this about a white player.

Ibra will get hammered for this and rightly so, though I imagine Lukaku wont get away scot free either, his comments were also pretty offensive, but not racist.

"People are desperate to find a racist angle, personally I think Zlatan was referencing the clearly racist lies from Moshiri."

Not sure about this take, chief.

That sounds like voodoo shit now. Problematic.

I think the feck you and your wife is in response to “feck your mother.” Ironically Lukaku, annoyed at a mother comment, then says “fils de pute” (literally son of a whore, similar to son of a bitch in English).

I’m sure they both joked about it at United, that’s how banter between teammates works, and no doubt why it popped straight into Zlatan’s thoughts.
A bit of a daft one to then bring up in heated argument though, as suddenly it goes from banter to appearing more sinister in the eyes of many.

Thanks for the full quote. It's unfortunate he didn't sue because now it's his word against Moshiri. At lot of people engage in different varieties of fortune telling so it's hardly impossible that was true.

I think he says voodoo shit but I can't see how that is racist? "White" men are portrayed as practicing voodoo in movies all the time, I never knew some thought it was only attributed to a certain demographic?

I think Lukaku loses it because Zlatan brings up Lukaku's mother in the argument.

Just happy both aren't our players anymore. These two have egos that would fill an entire cruise ship.
