Exactly everyone will drop points yet people shit the bed like it's just us
10 games prior to today:

TeamPts
Man City30
West Ham22
Chelsea21
Leicester18
Everton17
Man United15

That's why people have been "shitting the bed" - yes, we'll all drop points, but we've dropped more than most recently. Hopefully today is the shot in the arm we have been needing - kick on and beat West Ham before the break, and things will be looking better.

Never thought we’d drop out despite our form but that hopefully gives us the confidence to kick on. West Ham will set up very defensively against us so in a strange way it’ll be Oles first real test @McGrathsipan

Shame we can't really win the title after this win, but top 4 should be secured if we do a decent enough job.

Next week vs West Ham is key since they are one of the sides that may take top 4 from us.

The West Ham predictions look particularly fanciful. But we shall see.

It's always tricky to predict games but think some of those predicted points totals are a little inflated, West Ham on 71 points, really? They've had a very good run since xmas but I think they'll lose and draw a few in the run in so they'll be more in thr 60-65 point range, same for Everton.

For example a Brighton desperately fighting relegation could actually take their chances and beat West Ham at home. Newcastle beat West Ham on first weekend so while they're much poorer now they could get a point from that as happened last season.

Would be amazed if them and Spurs just went unbeaten rest of the season. You've also got Liverpool to just lose one more game which is bold claim given the state they're in and they'll probably put everything into winning the CL before too long so Klopp will start resting players for league games just as Benitez did years ago, possibly same for Spurs with europa.

Just 6 defeats predicted for all those teams and seems four of them are against Man. City!

So @Bobcat is predicting that West Ham won’t lose another game this season. Lawro needs to watch out.

Funny thing but we have one on our own site with Lawro predictions, he's predicted Villa to win about 4 games this season so in his table we're 10-15 points off Leeds/Brighton and about 30 points off Liverpool still.

wow, pretty harsh predictions there Bob.

I have this result giving us a new bounce and at least 2 wins from the draws you’ve given us.

So frustrating we couldn’t hold on against Everton. Or get the correct decisions against Sheffield United or West Brom. We’d be 4 points behind even with those points. I know Ole gets the piss taken when he goes on about small margins but he isn’t wrong.

Win against West Ham at home next and top 4 is done IMO.
Yeah, I think if Chelsea beat Everton too then that is likely the top 4 decided.

Someone’s form could plummet like Leicester’s last year, which would give Liverpool or Spurs a sniff, but don’t think they have a run in them at the moment.

Yep.

This is 538's top-4 probabilities right now.

United 91%
Chelsea 63%
Leicester 55%
West Ham 25%
Tottenham 25%
Liverpool 22%
Everton 11%

Those bottom 4 teams will drop off very quickly with a couple of bad results.

When is Pogba due back? Could be pivotal to us getting second. Also hopefully today marks the return of Martial, that would be huge for us in all competitions.

Never mind that, it's the inaugural Europa Conference next season, and I can't think of a better representative of England and the Premier League! :D

If Everton win their game in hand but lose tomorrow there'll only be 5 points between 5th and 2nd. Today was a massive win in our hardest fixture but there's still a lot of work to get on with.

AS I said though, I think those 3 points were massive for United today so I'm fairly confident. It's the horrible bottom teams that usually provide the most annoying points dropped though (e.g Palace) so it's hard to predict and there's not a run in that looks really favorable for any team.

Many games remain and everything is too unpredictable.
Any team can lose points in any game.
And there are many teams with possibilities.
In a couple of weeks, the scenario we have today can be completely reversed.

I just re-did my predictor and I have us on 78 points, I think this win was so huge to break that poor record against the top sides and stop the slump. I think it’ll start a superb run of results

80 points or close would be very very good indeed.

My table:

City 89
United 78
Chelsea 74
Leicester 70
Everton 69

Liverpool in 8th on 62 pts.
I would accept that if offered now. We have very crippling injuries at the moment, our best bet is probably you and Chelsea are already secured so we get an easier game against both of you.

Moyes has done really well and I didn't realize they had a game in hand as well as Everton. Their game against us will probably tell us how serious their top 4 chances are.

Spurs to sneak in front of Chelsea imo. Theyll score many goals against tired teams in this mad season.
Bale needs to stay fit though

That win yesterday was massive looking at the table. Impossible to predict from here. Our run in looks the most difficult.

From what I've seen your defence has improved immeasurably but I wonder if the goals will dry up. Your next four fixtures are fairly decent though.

I don’t think Top 4 is completely done and dusted for us yet, no doubt there’ll be one or two iffy moments between now and the end of the season.

Would like to see West Ham & Leicester get in there just to dislodge the regular teams and upset the apple cart a little, although obviously not at our expense!!

Chelsea will definitely be in top 4. Their next 7 fixtures are all wins, IMO. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they win them all without conceding.

They look good.

Think that's a fair assessment. That said, if Havertz can be a difference-maker like he was tonight I reckon we might be ok at that end of the pitch. I'm personally excited to see what he can do in a system designed to maximise his strengths, especially given how well Tuchel has done to mask our individuals' weaknesses to this point.
