Negative police actions have more purchase than positive police actions, more impact. This ultimately isn’t fair on the entirety of the institution, but the institution allows these actions to continue through various errors.
Probably not the best thread in which to discuss this, but it’s pretty simple to see why many view the police in the negative extreme. It’s not like curtailing blanket statements from the anti-police side is going to make a difference one bit. That’s not going to change the institution.
