What really? I though Barnes was good today. Is this just sourness or what?
Well apart from the forward passes being left off, the crooked line out that led to a try the knock on that he couldn’t see even though the ball spins after it hit the arm it’s not sourness it’s just that he’s a brutal ref and has been for a long time.

Ok, difference of opinion. He's not perfect, none of them are, but he's still one of the best in the world imho

Jesus no man. I hate speaking about a ref in rugby but that performance from Barnes was one of the worst I have ever seen from a professional referee.

2 of their tries were off massive forward passes. A third was off a knock on.

Our best player was taken out of the came by a cheap shot during a phase of play that would never have happened had Barnes not ignored an even worse forward pass just before it.

We got a yellow card for repeated infringements in the 22, but Toulouse were allowed to infringe at will for the entire game while we were attacking their line without getting the same.

There were a series of fouls 5 yards out, just before their big break out from the 22 that was an absolute farce and should have seen 2 yellow cards alone.

I have huge respect for Toulouse and they played some great rugby, but that was a disgrace of a performance from Barnes. I was raging for a good 3 hours after the game.

I don’t want to debate it too much if you’ve got steam coming out your ears. Having spent a few weekends like that recently (England Wales anyone :D ) I know what a pain in the arse it is. What I will say is there were a few calls the other way as well. When Ntamack broke through in the first half and Munster killed the ball 5 yards from the posts, I fully expected a yellow there. Same when Kolbe was taken out by Earls in the air in the second. It wasn’t all one way is what I’m saying

100% Murray should've seen yellow there. The Earls one should never have happened because of the massive forward pass just before it.

The lineout resulting from that Earls penalty was also thrown in around 4 feet crooked and they scored from it.

Rugby reffing is absolutely bonkers . It leaves me so confused all the time . Seems like like there is no consistency at all in terms of decisions

What was behind the introduction of a round of 16 phase to the Champions Cup?

Each team only played 2 games in the group stages because I think the French were prevented from playing in January due to Covid restrictions. So I think they decided that going straight to the QFs off the back of only 2 games was unfair and it would be fairer if there was a Last 16 instead.

3 wins in a row now for the Waikato Chiefs who beat the Highlanders 26-23 under the roof in Dunedin. It was the first super rugby match to go into 'golden point' and a Damian McKenzie penalty goal got the Chiefs home. The Highlanders will be kicking themselves - 2 penalty goals and two conversions were missed. Josh Ioane (Highlanders #10) had a go at a drop goal in golden point and it was not even close.

The QLD Reds have now beaten the ACT Brumbies twice despite the Brumbies leading for about 155 of the 160 minutes of rugby between the two best teams in Australia.

I find it very hard not to like MacKenzie's smile before he kicks  Hilarious but also kind of charming.

Looked like a really forward pass to me before the try on 60mins.

The golden points idea looks very interesting. Is there a time limit on it?

It certainly did look forward and it's not the first forward pass controversy in super rugby Aotearoa. The Highlanders had already burned their captains referral and the try was scored more than two phases after the suspect pass so I don't think the TMO could have intervened.

If there's no score after 10 minutes, the match will end as a draw with both sides receiving two points each. In Australia, we have golden try in the event of a draw with a penalty goal or a drop goal deemed an unacceptable way to win a rugby match by Rugby Australia.

Ah ok, that's a reasonable time limit on it. Wonder will it catch on.

Fancy Exeter to beat us today if I'm honest unless we pull a great performance out of our arse. We're capable of it but we've been pretty average most of the year by our standards of previous years.

Not really sure how the week off is going to work out for ye. It might have been better to have a good test rather than a week idle.

Yeah its a double edged sword, get to avoid injury but then maybe be a little undercooked. My worry is that we'll need our back play to win I think and we've a few out of form in those positions, especially the wings. All depends if we can hold our own against their pack.

Watching any Irish side slap any Welsh side around a field like this warms the soul.

Undercooked it is so far.

Lowe really is outrageous in attack. Still think its Ireland's gameplay that doesn't allow him to show his best. Defence is definitely an issue though.

Great start to the match!

Chiefs are my team from years ago when I organised a retirement function for one of our subsidiary companies at Sandy Park (200 miles away!).

I’ve been back once for a match, the Premiership semi-final against Northampton in 2019.

Leinster are in the match now and it could be a close one!

Yep, fingers crossed for a great match here.
