Financially speaking, i can understand why this deal look like an absolute win for the Spanish and Italian clubs who are participating, they are set for a long time.
Why are clubs like United, City and Liverpool so desperate to throw away everything for this though?

Sure, its a lot of money for the PL clubs too, but the league already brings in tons of money, i dont get it.
Because now the likes of Arsenal and United don't need big investments every time they fall out of the top 4. That sweet ESL money is there for them every year for the next 23 years. I'd be shocked if it was reinvested back into the club. They don't give a shit how the team does.

Wrong group to bring this up in, I suppose, but what does everyone make of the CL viewership numbers in Gen Z, which lag far behind other age groups. I know this is an excuse, but there is some truth to the fact that no one cares or watches Bayern v Olympiakos in the CL.

Totally against a US-style league with permanent members. There are so many shite teams in those leagues with awful owners.
Doesnt this have a lot to do with the decision to remove it from the free to air list in the uk, making it difficult and expensive to access. Im iny mid 30s and only a few of my friends still watch the cl due to that reason

It seems like it is a result of uefa etc chasing more lucrative contracts in the short term which ultinately damages interest in their competition in the long term. Can imagine the cl being a continuotatin of that

Chelsea 'told' they can't leave European Super League by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez

Chelsea and Manchester City are believed to be the most skeptical about the new competition, but as per Perez who spoke in an interview on Monday, he says they can't make a U-turn now.

"The contract of the Super League is binding. Nobody can leave, we will work all together. All the clubs signed the contracts last Saturday, there's no problem."
Problem with that headline is that they assume Chelsea and Man City want to get out. Perez interview happened before those rumours by their paid PR journalist started. So this we want to but we can't narrative is bullshit. They planned this for years and just after one day they want out. Not buying that

Suspect the club thinking of pulling out is Liverpool. But they all should tbh. Although admittedly, i think the ESL is inevitable. Just a case of when
City more likely.

United and Liverpool have been at the forefront of the whole thing

There's only one United!
So I just saw Shearer saying 'Chuck these 6 teams out', and Infantino saying 'You're either in or you're out'.

I therefore ask:

Is it the fans fault?
Is it the club's fault?
Is it the players fault?
A big NO, NO AND NO,

Therefore you have to punish all the greedy owners of these clubs but not the grass roots fans, players and clubs of these great (well most of them!) historically important teams .

.........and why in the first place did you let them be taken over by these type of owners?
We could all see why they bought these clubs but why didn't you nick it in the bud!?

.........and why Fifa/UEFA had/has such great stories of corruption?
Where is/has all the money going/gone before?

Supporters, players and clubs should NOT be penalised for something which was suddenly sprung on everyone .

I hear this a lot but all the americans I have heard say they hate this and they watch european football for what it is, and these are the ones that watch it the most.
So where are those americans?
I don't doubt this is true but I haven't heard them yet.

Do you really think clubs havent done their due diligence before getting involved? Seriously? This didn't start on Sunday. They have been contemplating for years.
We havent seen enough to make proper judgement but what we have seen doesnt spund very convincing and based on rather big assumptions.

For example they appear to be putting a lot of emphasis on attracting yoinger fans but doing so will be difficult and even if they do they might not be able to monetize them to the extent they want to

Assuming they got kicked out, how much better is the ESL money compared to PL and CL money combined?

Looks a half decent turn out there at Chelsea tonight and hopefully sparks bigger and better from other clubs into the weekend.

If people aren’t aware, Chelsea Pitch Owners own the name “Chelsea FC” and the Stamford Bridge freehold. The club doesn’t.

Oh wow, love this. Imagine if the first concrete measure is taken by a fans group rather than just the empty threats from PL, UEFA etc.

They just don't care if they misses out though. They will come back stronger with more state funded money next year. The system is already broken. PL and UEFA shouldn't have allowed state funded small clubs to invest heavily and break the balance.
This is the action to show they care. They care about when they lose the place in the competition, they will pocket less money.
They are building a league who will not be relegated forever because they want to spend less and put more to their pocket. Don't you think they suddenly want to watch a competitive & exciting football? No way they do, they just want more money into their pocket.
No relegation means they have nothing to loss no matter how their awful management and dismal performance which will being a punishment in currently foundation.
Because the owners know their clubs are well-known, so the "legacy" fans like you will pay and watch. The owners is squeezing their club's reputation to earn more money.

On the current foundation, the breakthrough of West Ham & Leicester is showing how competitive of PL. The bottom teams push any force they can do to make that 1 point is also show the competitive of PL.

Why do you expect that you can watch a top competitive in that league with less actual quantity team? Because they are well-known team?
Why do you expect that there will be a excellent competition without the relegation? Because they are well-known team?
Why teams like West Ham & Leicester cannot involve in that league? Because they are not the well-know team in terms of money?
Why do you expect that all owners from that league would be invested big to a non-relegated league? Because they care about their clubs?

Or the case of the most important player in the history of football, that changed the football more than Pele, Maradona et al. The one and only one Jean-Marc Bosman.
Yes another good example of UEFA/FIFA getting trumped by the law.

I actually made this exact point yesterday to someone who claimed it was a positive to have less cold Wednesday nights at Stoke. You don't want it every week but its all part of it. The glamorous games, the exciting ones, the shit ones, the cold freezing ones. If you don't want to follow your team through it all then you''re not much of a fan.
