Always find it amazing that the journalists know how exchange rates work at this stage of negotiations and then immediately forget once the transfer happens.

If Dortmund had accepted the €78m/£67m offer it would forever and a day been reported as "a fee of £78m".

Just like when we inevitably agree to pay the €90m/£77m or so, it'll be "UNITED RECORD £90M SIGNING".

It’s such a shame that Citeh are going to get 10-15M from this deal. But hopefully we get this deal done this time.
Let’s hope this triggers a load of wingers moving and one of them ends up being Zaha - think we have a 25% sell on clause.

Looks like it will be done for around 90-95 mil € and payment period of 3,5 years.

For anyone saying this will be wrapped up very soon I highly doubt it.

The Euro's start tomorrow and England play on Sunday. I cant see a transfer of this size being announced during a tournament and while the player is on duty.

The best we can hope for is a deal is "in place" and ready to be announced AFTER the Euro's.....So mid July.
They often announce it subject to medical. Which, if fee agreed with Dortmund is likely what will happen. These days, player terms will already be agreed. Then after the Euros United will announce the deal has been finalised.

Would be lovely if we had something to celebrate tonight, rivals are worried by this and that's enough for me

I think £67m is a reasonable opening bid, assuming that we don’t want to go above £80m.

The positioning to Dortmund could be that we value Sancho at £67m but will go up to £80m to allow for the fact that 15% of this goes to City. Therefore Dortmund receive what we believe is a fair price.

Think how the installments are made is paramount - less upfront now means more money for other targets

Still rather high to me. Apologies for pulling another player into this but some folks here think selling Pogba will fetch us nothing more than £40 or so as he's entering the last year of his contract, I might be wrong, but is it not the same situation with Sancho? He's going into the last year of his contract, right?

Still has two years on his contract and is considerably younger.

he has 2 years left. pogba has 1. Also pogba wage vs his makes a huge difference in overall money a club has to spend

You don't haggle with BVB. You come up with what they want, the deal is usually done.
So, we will keep increasing our bid until we get to the €90 + €5 add ons that they want and that will be that. It won't be much of a negotiation.
It's as if people have selective memory. We did this all summer last season. It's clear Dortmund are quite happy to keep him another year if we don't meet his valuation.

Because the team needs a CDM, CB, and possibly a RB, and Dortmund proved last year that they aren't going to move off their price. If we are going to get him, get him, and let's move the feck on instead of wasting time since the team only works on one deal at a time.

Think the "haggling" this time is over payment structure.

Always worth trying a lower bid first, though, you never know if they'll accept it or (most likely) not.
