There is really very little chance that Cama will leave free at the end of his contract. If he does not find a contract this summer then he will extend for 1 year with a very low departure clause. He really loves the club and our owner takes this issue very seriously. Pinault is quite capable of punishing the kid by depriving him of land for 1 year but I'm sure Cama won't want to harm Stade Rennais. As I have already said with an offer to 30M Rennes will wait, in the hope of having a higher bid. At 40M he leaves immediately. It's up to you;) His style of play is made for PL
So €30m they will wait. But €40m means leaves immediately. Well, I guess €35m will do then.

Funny how every different press story people buy into and its he is coming, he isnt coming.

I half expect some of these stories are even coming from agents or Rennes to the press, they want to drum up interest. And it will hardly be any surprise if a few clubs are in for him as he is one of the best youngsters in the world. Especially if he really is available for £25-30m not too many clubs would be ruled out at that fee that seem keen, maybe only Barcelona.

And the "if he prefers Spain and doesnt want to come we should move on"....though I partly agree with people there, lets not kid ourselves, I think the majority of young players in Europe would love to play for those two above others.

I think this is one that should be a priority, get a fee agreed quickly and then lets see if we can sign him....otherwise, then move on. He is my number one choice personally, but there are lots of possible midfield options and I can think of nothing worse than us missing out on signing one taking so long on one player and then a possible rush at the end of the window like we had at right wing last year
You absolutely don't want a DiMaria situation again, but ruling out promising youngsters because they might want to go to Real or Barca in the future or prefer them is stupid. Yeah, I'd love if every elite talent grew up dreaming of playing for Manchester United, but in retrospect, Cristiano Ronaldo always wanted to go to Real, and it sucked losing him 2 years after he put himself in the argument as the best player in the world, but you make that purchase again 100x over. You just have to hope that they will be professional about it, and they are competitive enough they want to be the best regardless of where they are playing. Plus, a lot of the Di Maria issues was family related, something way more likely to be an issue with an established player in their mid-20's than an 18-year-old wunderkind.

@ Jim Beam :
I think he wishes to be a number 8 and he has the qualities to do it very well.
once thrown with the ball at the feet, it is very hard to stop, it is lively and runs quickly with the ball. He got a lot of fouls and cautions for the opponent which is always valuable

But if I were his coach I would put him number 6 because I have never seen such a young player occupy this position of high responsibility so well. He is excellent at defense, pressing and recovering the ball from the opponent's feet. He can still progress on his placement however

One last thing to remember to have an opinion on him. Last year our team was much less efficient than two years ago. More difficult for Cama to express himself, the expectations were out of proportion to him, and he was being watched. The departure of Raphinha and Edouard Mendy at the end of the transfer window were two hard knocks. He discovers his 1st Champions League and national selections. That's a lot for a 17 year old guy. I'm sure he will have digested it all and will confirm.
Thank you for your welcome, great forum, it made me want to watch Looking for Eric;)
Hey, I would like to ask some questions here:
  1. How good his ball retention? I mean, is he very good handling high & quick press? A lot of PL teams tend to press quick and I wonder if he can handle it well.
  2. Does he take a lot of touches before releasing the ball? How good his ball control and first touch?
  3. When he played as no 6 in 19/20 season, what formation did you guy play? 433?
  4. Did he really say he wishes to be no 8 not no 6?
I‘ll appreciate your answers, cheers :)

That's not looking good. Wasn't there rumours he also preferred PSG? Would explain why this has somewhat stalled, the transfer fee is more than affordable, we clearly want him but there doesn't seem to be much movement.

Hopefully it's just all being done quietly.

If he still dreams of Real/Barca even with their finance in this climate, then I want nothing of him. He'd just be off to Real/Barca in a couple years anyway if he loves them that much.
Why not? Let him becomes the player we think he'd then sell him for +100m. In that time if he'd help us to win a title or two it's hell of a bargain for 40m. Or maybe he'd fell in love with us and stay. Have some faith in your own club mate.

Calabres also retweeted the below tweet.

So Real Madrid was out, Barca surely doesn't have the fund.
It will be between PSG and us, if PSG going to buy Pogba instead, maybe we still have chance.

It’s pretty obvious he has no intention of extending. So his love isn’t as deep as you’re making it out to be.

It sounds like he's not that keen on joining us and will only come if other options don't materialise.
Hope this isn't the case. You want players who truly get the club and feel a real part of it rather than ones who can't wait to feck off to their dream destination.

Come on guys, this X player prefer to play for Y club is completely his private matter as long as he can keep his mouth, being professional and motivated to perform for us.

According to the very insightful report from our French poster here he's quite a decent and matured lad so no worry I think.

Ole was a Liverpool fan, while Busby played for City.

Sancho always wanted to return to Manchester. That did not stop him from showing the two clubs there the finger and go to Dortmund instead. Ronaldo was our key player for many years while Mr 'I go on trial with the United shirt on' Beckham fecked off to Madrid.

Players tend to only seek what is good to them.

Beckham didn't want to go to Madrid though, in fairness to him

Fred is hardly making waves for Brazil. He starts games along with Casimiro, but he's very average so far, but to be fair almost all the team also is.
He’s actually been playing out of his skin for Brazil. I’ve been following the competition since I heard he was starting.

Might have a little something to do with Neymar. . .

This starts for Brazil b*llocks! Is Saka better than Grealish now?

I’ve not seen enough of the Rennes kid but the cult of Fred is honestly befuddling.
My point being you can’t suddenly say Camavinga is better then Fred based off YouTube and an inferior league. Despite what you say Fred has been playing well for Brazil and putting in some impressive numbers helping his team to the final.

Any idea who is this Rudy Galetti?

I've looked up a bit and he seems to be a journalist. No idea if he's reliable though.

He's always giving 110%, it's never about that. But that does not mean that he doing great, even if he's not bad.

He's in a fantastic position both financially and professionally to wait and scrutinise his options. He can choose a club this year and have the security of a 5-year contract at a club of his choosing with less salary. Alternatively, he can wait until January and wait for a massive uplift financially when he can choose a club that pays him the most as a free agent.

I personally don't think players and agents having this much freedom and power is financially viable going forward as a business model for clubs. Something needs to be done pretty quickly. The rich owners are likely paying from private sources to keep up their success. To keep up with these rich owners we are seeing historical footballing institutions such as Barca, Madrid in trouble. It seems United are also burdening itself with debt increases.

About Pogba? There wasn’t anything about Pogba to PSG then was there?
No I meant he said that Camavinga’s preference would be PSG. Don’t think Bouhafsi has said anything about Pogba.

He's an 18 year old who's scared to leave his home country. We just need to make sure he has some friends in the Manchester. Hopefully the likes of Mejbri and Kambwala can step up.
