Well, there's that. Really good to get some continuity, and the squad is shaping up nicely. Let's see where he can take us the upcoming season.

The have zero concept of context. You can see it in this thread now - “we’re Manchester United 2nd isn’t enough blah blah” - as if the name alone just wins titles.
Again context works both ways though , surely you can also see that United finished with 73 points in the league which doesn’t get you second in most seasons . Liverpool had terrible defensive injury crisis and Chelsea sacked their manager midway which changed their season . Just using we finished second is lacking context too

Well said. I always have a smile at the fans who suggest we shouldn’t sign someone or extend a contract because other teams fans will laugh.
Can you imagine the actual shit show we'd be in if we listened to Liverpool and City fans regarding what's best for United? Guess we better throw the baby out with the bath water in case one of them laughs at us... Jesus wept...

Well of course on paper anyone can win it but my club went out in the group stages and then lost to Villarreal in the EL final . Sorry but I can’t seriously believe that we can win the cl under him
Chelsea had an England-esque route to the final. I'm confident with that draw we could have got there as well. Chelsea had no business being in a CL final if all things were fair and equal.

Fine , we will just wait for the top managers to leave the league so that we can have a chance
If you look at the odds they are high for Chelsea and Liverpool as well. City are in a league of their own at the moment. I don't think there is any available manager capable of bridging that gap with our current squad. We need to continue making long term squad improvements.

Yes like our name should guarantee you success, it’s so naive that you can’t reason with it.

Not one fan would predict us to win the league this season or even come close . I wonder how many years in his reign would it be fair to expect a shot at the league or the champions league. The whole finished second thing is hardly a major achievement considering we finished with 73 points which in most seasons would barely get you top 4
We could sign Sancho, Varane and a top class DM before the window shuts and we'll still have to be quiet about those kind of statements. What's funny is those that have the utmost faith in OGS won't even go there. That surely says something.

Thats got nothing to do with Liverpool playing with no defenders for a whole season and Chelsea sacking their manager. No. Watch Ole have us finish below them this season and give your head a wobble.
Nice that you can make excuses for all our rivals. That’s actually really normal behaviour for one of our fans so congratulations on that one. I predict we finish above them again but sadly you’ll have shifted the goalposts again by that point.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Yup. 74 points in a season where we had no pre-season or break after Europa league, played our last 4 games in 8 days and had an insane schedule throughout due to COVID. Some more context for you.

This post reeks of bitterness. They deservedly beat Atletico, Porto, Madrid and City in the knockout rounds. Nothing England-esque about that bar Porto. On the flip side, we couldn't beat a far worse team in Villarreal.

What if we add Varane and another world class player to Sancho this summer. He'll still need another five or six to get anywhere close?

It isn’t good for a squad to not know whether the manager is coming or going. That kind of upheaval just causes distractions, see Fergie in 2002. Every week he’d be facing questions about his future, when the club can nip it in the bud now and renew him. Everyone knows he isn’t going to another club but it isn’t just about that, there’s other factors.
Fair enough.

Are you serious? It's the most prestigious trophy in club football.

Your sarcasm meter needs working mate.

At no point did I say I am content with no silverware. That has to be a remit for him in this new contract with the signings he has made. I am merely stating that he has deserved this contract extension based on the progress, trophies or not, he has made with this team. From where he started to where we are now, it is unquestionable progress, on and off the pitch.
You were listing out his achievements of reaching SF and Finals as mark of progress. What else am I supposed to take away from that?

Progress under him has been marginal, we still play putrid shit most of the time under him. I've repeatedly said, he did a great job, yes great job, stabilizing us, post-Mourinho. And, made decent signings. But, at the same time, there are huge holes tactically, which repeatedly get exposed. Lesser said about his in-game management, the better. We need our manager to be a lot more than be an excellent man-manager. Just, look at the caliber of manager he is up against when it comes to winning prizes.

We finished second and was a decent GK away from winning a EL last season lads. Our rivals might think it's funny but we did better than most of them last year and this year will be no different.
If only, there was a decent GK on the bench who has >50% penalty saving record..

If only, there were options on the bench to go for the win after equalizing, instead of chickening out and playing for penalties...

Actually, I give up. I simply don't have the energy to argue anymore.

It's not at all to be honest. I've played football all my life and love it as a sport. From my experience though people who haven't played the game substantially don't understand certain aspects. That isn't too outrageous to suggest is it?

If I signed up to a tennis forum, for instance, I wouldn't be ashamed to admit that I love watching it despite never playing it.

No ones a bad ass.
Let's agree to disagree.

No chance the Glazers would sack Ole.

The fans give him excuses for everything and he never complains about them. He's the perfect manager for them.

Fantastic news. I was getting worried some other big club would try to lure him away. Koeman might not last much longer at Barca and who knows how Inzaghi will do at Inter.

We literally finished above Chelsea for two seasons in a row and Liverpool last season. Give your head a wobble. Call yourself a fan
Yes but what did we win over the last 2 seasons compared to Liverpool and Chelsea?. You left yourself wide open there. Just saying.

Was always gonna happen. Managerial contracts don’t mean much. It’s a three year deal so nothing extravagant.

The usual candidates coming in here and trying to run anyone down who isn’t fully behind this. As if it’s a surprise that a manager who’s won nothing for three years, signs a new deal and it isn’t met with universal acclaim. Rehashing the same old tripe from last may and the may before and the may before and inevitably again next may.

Changes nothing. He was always going to stay or leave based on our performances on the pitch this season. This just gets rid of another distraction for the season ahead.

What manager should we get if we didn’t extend Ole contract? He’s got us going the right direction.

I see the same shit all the time on here, we’re Man Utd, we should win the league, we should get better. And never is there an answer to who that better is to be able challenge the oil club and pep. I’d love to hear it.

It's almost as if the highest paid GK and Spanish player in the world was trusted to do a job he's paid for instead of throwing an inexperienced kid into the firing line.

The football style bit is what gets me the most, not sure why it has become a belief that he plays good football

Read what you write to be sure you are not writing BS. Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid (Spain Champions) and Manchester City (England Champions).
While Ole you know, lost against the mighty yellow submarines.

All the oppo fans I know take us far more seriously now than previously, especially last season.

If your looking towards Twitter for an honest appraisal of our progress then you will never get one.
I havent seen anything online apart from they hoped we would give him a 10 year contract when it was mentioned last season. Was just was going to look where you had.

Great news and well deserved. Good luck Ole!

Whether or not he'll be the man to take us back to the top, who knows. What I do know is I'd rather it be him than your latest Leipzig tactical Wunderkind. Ole'll be putting his heart and soul into getting us there, which means alot to me as a fan.

What's football without a little romance ey?

How much is he getting paid yearly? Let's say it's the same as what he is getting currently which is £7.5m a year. If we have a terrible season next year where we again win nothing, that's nearly £20m in compensation we will owe him if we can want to sack him which will make pulling the trigger that much harder. We never ever fecking learn.

The football is a lot better generally, people just seem to remember the bad games more than the good, even though it’s 80% good. Jose’s main tactic was hoof ball to Lukaku or Fellaini, and then you have people saying Ole’s football is no better. Short memories.

Atleti hadn't won a game in 15 when they played Chelsea, they were in dire form. Madrid have an aged side that was at civil war with the board. They're big names but they weren't exactly current Bayern. Anything can happen in a final, we saw that ourselves.
