Love that he straight up says he was better than Vieira. Too right he was as well, not a more overrated midfielder in Prem history than Vieira I don't think.
How can you disagree with about who his favourite was?Absolutely love the guy to bits but I disagree with his comment about Schmeichel being overrated. Quite possibly the best keeper ever.
Also kind of disagree with his answer to his favourite team mate being Irwin.
Most of the players he has played with are on record saying he was a genuinely nice bloke that suffered from white line fever. I think we should stop trying to push stereotypes of people who none of us know.
He fell out with Yorke when he was manager at Sunderland.I liked his reaction to the Yorke or Cole question. I don't think he takes Yorke very seriously.
He was a great keeper, but a difficult personality. He had personal issues with Schmeichel.
Ah that explains it. Cheers. He fell out with Yorke when he was manager at Sunderland.
Also Keane and Cole remain good friends. In his book, Cole wrote that Keane was the first person to visit him in hospital recently when he had a kidney transplant.Ah that explains it. Cheers.
Schmeichel would receive constant shit from the fans in this modern/internet era. I think a lot of people have forgotten how many mistakes he actually made, which didn’t matter so much in the 90’s when fans didn’t microanalyse every moment of every players performance.Absolutely love the guy to bits but I disagree with his comment about Schmeichel being overrated. Quite possibly the best keeper ever.
Also kind of disagree with his answer to his favourite team mate being Irwin.
I think a lot of that team didn't like Schmeichel all that much.He had personal issues with Schmeichel.
Made me giggle that he mentioned Irwin a few times in the 50 questions. He loves him
Well he was asked who his favourite was. Not sure how you can disagree with that. Also kind of disagree with his answer to his favourite team mate being Irwin.
Nearly everyone did. He's an arsehole. He had personal issues with Schmeichel.
Agreed. Imagine if De Gea was making the same mistakes and was sent on holiday mid way through the season?Schmeichel would receive constant shit from the fans in this modern/internet era. I think a lot of people have forgotten how many mistakes he actually made, which didn’t matter so much in the 90’s when fans didn’t microanalyse every moment of every players performance.
When your wining, it don’t really matter.Agreed. Imagine if De Gea was making the same mistakes and was sent on holiday mid way through the season?
Ye he has really shown this side to him the past 12 months that we as fans probably didn't see before. I think Micah has helped bring him out of his shell a little. We always used to think of him as a sour miserable person. Happy to see he is enjoying life. Our greatest captain ever
Did anyone see his Instagram (or something) sitting with Ian Wright where he captioned something like "Me and my good mate Wrighty hanging out, Micah don't be jealous" ... So weirdly refreshing seeing this side to Keano, puts a smile on my face all the time
This was my thinking too. He seems so at ease these days. There were times in the past he seemed openly tormented.Great to see how much anger he’s let go of; genuinely looks like he’s enjoying life
Whatever it is that's lifted his spirits, I could do with some of!This was my thinking too. He seems so at ease these days. There were times in the past he seemed openly tormented.
I just reckon it’s a natural mellowing with age. He seems so at ease with himself now.Whatever it is that's lifted his spirits, I could do with some of!
Could well be. The beard comments would be in line with that.I just reckon it’s a natural mellowing with age. He seems so at ease with himself now.
20 years later and he was still wrong to leave.Loving Keano these days.
As an Irishman, he helps us hang onto some distant semblance of relevance.
In 2002, Keane left Saipan and we all watched Eamon Dunphy react to the news.
In 2021 I shit you not, Eamon Dunphy was on the radio yesterday discussing Saipan for a half an hour. We've gone nowhere.
Never leave us Roy.
That figuresHe's been on Instagram for 6 months now and he's still not following anybody.
Mother of God, Shane. Leave it!20 years later and he was still wrong to leave.
I dunno. That makes sense to me.
He doesn't like him, he never rates people he doesn't like.
Agree with that, he was a bit overrated by fans with rose tinted spectacles
He doesn't seem to rate any goalkeepers highly. He doesn't like him, he never rates people he doesn't like.
That's just Roys way of saying, "Pete was a great keeper but a bit of a prick"
There, all fixed for you now!20 years later and he was still wrong to be sent home
I wonder what he thinks of Edwin VDSHe doesn't seem to rate any goalkeepers highly.
Didn't everyone? Schmike's himself said he took himself too seriouslyHe had personal issues with Schmeichel.
This was really enjoyable Can’t wait for the full episode!
