If he plays like this the whole season, I am ok if he leaves for free.

Once again we can see Pogba plays his best football closer to the goal, when he is playing between the lines, drifting inside from the left. He is wasted playing in CM, and many of us have said that for ages. You dont need a DM to "unlock" him. Just play him in his proper position, ahead of two midfielders. This free #8 role from the LW area really suits him well. He plays better in an attacking role than in CM.

And this "he is inconsistent" thing is such a myth too. Just because he's not scoring/assisting doesnt mean he's had a bad game. His passing, driving runs with the ball, and aerial threat(attack and defense on set pieces) are really important attributes. He's regularly played well for us last season when he's been fit or not recovering from covid. He was among our top 5-6 players last season, and if he leaves we will miss him a lot. A player like him is unique. He has a marketing factor as well, so I say as his last contract he deserves 320-350k. We have loads of deadwood who are stealing a wage, yet you see people not wanting to keep a top player on a high wage. Hopefully we can keep him.

All the "He only plays well for France", "cant hack it in fast paced PL", "needs to have whole team built around him because he is a passenger", "wont miss him at all, sell for 30M" look like clowns today. They always do, but moreso today.

Leeds play uncompromising 'Loco Bielsa Ball' so it's hard to extrapolate this game pattern too much onto the rest upcoming games? (Not to take away from Bruno & Pogba WC performances)
A very good thing if Pogba gets to continue to play the advanced & free role in the upcoming season vs shoehorned into some bashed defunct role.

Top class. His skillset for a midfielder of his size is just absurd. Hope he keeps his form up, we need him.

Hopefully he signs the contract and keeps making souness look like an idiot.

Played with McFred(not the "top DM" redcafe fantasises about), and didnt need unlocking. He doesnt need to play next to prime Makelele, all that will do is hide his defensive weakness, not elevate his peformance. You dont get an attacking midfielder(like say Maddison or Pogba) and play him in a double pivot next to a DM and wait for him to be "unlocked". That's daft. Sure he can do a job in midfield, but he is at his best further forward. Side note : I find the nickname "jogba" funny.

His understanding with Bruno is so amazing to see. Game recognises game. Next match :

I gave him MotM. Bruno was great, Pogba was just disgusting. Even before the assist train, I thought he was very good and disagreed with the comments in the match day thread saying he was "sloppy". In that position he can take risks and he was spraying some beautiful passes early on as well. I've been noticing we target him with long balls too. He's great in the air and taller than the average RB.

I do think that if we continue playing him LW, our other 2 forwards have to be in form. Pogba doesn't score enough himself, whoever we play alongside him must finish the chances he creates. I'd still play him centrally against low blocks or bench him from time to time.

To say he doesnt work hard is weird, and not true. He's so likeable as well, always playing with a smile, dont understand why people dont like him.

You have people saying "If you take away his assists, he had an average game", would say stuff like "Even on an average day when you are productive with G+A, that's the mark of a true top player", when Rashford/Bruno have similar performances(they have had plenty).

Pogba had a great game in terms of productivity. But he's had better performances. At his true best, he does both. Dominate games, while being productive.

Regardless, he is no less consistent than the likes of Bruno or Maguire really when he is not played out of position/unfit. Really a top player who deserves more love from the fans. Would probably get it if not for Raiola, but cant really blame him for doing what's best for himself financially.

You’re missing my point, saying Fletcher only got in the team because he was Fergies son isn’t personal? My point is Pogba isn’t the first and won’t be the last. The majority of people don’t think that he’s unprofessional, they think that he’s inconsistent and hard to find the right role for. They probably even hate his agent mouthing off. But the majority wouldn’t be saying he’s unprofessional
That doesn’t make it acceptable, does it? It may not be a majority, but it’s a vocal minority. Even just a few posts up from this, you have posters saying he’s only raising his game to try and get a better contract. It’s undeniable that he’s been treated very poorly by our fans, you can’t expect us to stick our head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t happen.

Was a great performance. That's what we need and expect from Pogba. Given he had space and time wont happen every week but if he does that consistently, we'll be hard to beat. Doesn't look like he's going anywhere tbh. Unplayable in that mood

With Solskjær's comment after the game that Pogba has only trained properly for a few days, coupled with Solskjær's comment that Lingard would have started if not for Covid, I think Pogba would have been benched had Jesse been fit.

Pogba is what he is, those kind of passes have been on show regularly here but when they aren't converted people like to dwell on his faults.
Fantastic player who will probably never be fully appreciated in England, they will wait for his next ok/poor game to rewrite history and make you believe he's been poor all season.

Far from it imo. He's had a log of similar games.
Best I’ve seen him play was at Goodison in January 2018 I think it was. Leipzig last season and Leicester in his first season also stand out to me.

Funnily enough, I really don’t care much about goals and assists from midfield players. Or, they are not at the top of my list anyway. The likes of Iniesta, Silva, Verratti are my favourite types of midfielders, and my favourite version of Pogba is the one who is just shrugging players off, skipping past them, doing his flicks and tricks to link with his teammates all at speed, one touch stuff etc. A midfielder isn’t expected to get 4 assists anymore than they are expected to get 3 goals in any particular game. A forward, perhaps, but the first and foremost of what makes a good midfield performance - that’s the stuff I love to see from Pogba the most. Of course, great he got 4 assists yesterday, but that’s a perfect storm from a stats perspective. Another game of similar quality he won’t get near that. I think he’s still warming up for the season, was sharper today than against Everton - but not even close to being his dominant best yet, which I’m looking forward to. We all know he can pass a ball all day, and even not at peak fitness, if Leeds stand off him as they did and he has runners ahead - he will hurt them. Pogba has been playing passes like that since he came here.

Absolute beast. If he wants offer him a new contract, otherwise bringing in Varane and Jadon will be almost pointelss. Him and Bruno can make miracles

That's probably true, but you do see people on this forum calling him unprofessional, egotistical, even a virus, and those people need to stop. That's all the original post that you're responding to was saying, I think. Don't you agree?
Possibly but the some of others are blaming the forum and even the moderating. They should have been around when Fletcher, O’Shea etc were getting grief

Unplayable on the day. Hated by a large portion of his own fan base yet puts in performances like this. Respect.
Nothing to be surprised about. This is the lot of almost every United player these days.

The problem with Pogba is this debate. Its been going in for 5 years now! Its friggin ridiculous. Even Ole cant decide where to play him. He obviously prefers McFred to him. So why are we keeping him exactly. As a LW? Is that his role now? Or are we playing him here and there. In a 2 man mid sometimes, LW at other times. Still ridiculous our top midfielder will have to make way against the top teams - City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc but ok I dont even care anymore. I just wish someone would just friggin decide on how to play Pogba. Its obvious to me for years. He plays best in a 3 man midfield with license to roam. Thats how he played at Juve. Sure for France he played alongside Kante. But it was Kante and a sht load of other world class stars. Didnt do so well last tournament in a 2. But even if Im wrong just decide already.

Need a full season of 8/9 out of 10 performances, that's what top players give you with his ability. It's arguably that even yesterday was only a half really.....

What have his stats been since he started playing LW regularly?

I feel like he's been involved quite a bit more goal wise - but more importantly it keeps him in an area he can use his skill without worrying about losing the ball when pressed.

Souness will fit right in at Redcafe
madness. a historical feat less than 10 players ever achieved in the Prem and man is talking as if it’s something that should be happening every week. And these are the guys on tv setting narratives.

Ferdinand’s reply in that tweet thread is hilarious though.

Over to you then, Mr. Jack Grealish. Let's see you put in four assist in a single premier league game in say, hmmm, next ten matches. Or twenty for that matter. Or the whole damn season. Four assists mind you. Not falling over your ass four times in a single game.

He is already compared to Zidane and Ronaldinho. If he manages to pull a performance like Pogba, he will be better than Messi.

My favorite goal is when he received the ball, turned slowly, pushing off the defender, and just passed it to Bruno. He's so strong on the ball, and we need to use this more.

This works very well around the box because opposition is afraid to foul him.

I know. There will be posters on here willing to exchange Pogba, Bruno and Greenwood to get a sniff of Grealish's farts. He is playing in a City team stacked with talent bought with that glittery, shiny oil money by their daddy sheik and coached by "greatest, most bald manager" in the history of football. And considering he is the actual 100 million player and better than Ronaldinho, Beckham etc. I expect him to pretty easily get four assists in a single PL game. In fact, I expect for it to be a regular occurrence. Anyway, apologies for derailing the thread.

His greatest strength is playing far away from defensive duties. Really sucks that with out formation (4231) he has to play on the left to get the best out of him. Its worth the risk though.

I don't think they're blaming the forum so much as they're defending Pogba from unfair criticism. Just like you've got a little defensive when you feel the forum has been unfairly criticised, fans want to defend Pogba when he gets unfair criticism.

Doesn't matter if we're talking Fletcher (who was a fantastic player for us! I still feel pissed off he was suspended for the 2009 cl final) or O'Shea (who was massive) or even Phil Jones, we need to get better at not hating on our own players, and people chatting this absolute baseless shit shit about Pogba need to be called out.

At the end of the day it’s a forum, as long as they don’t submit to racism, homophobia, wishing injury on players etc they can post their opinions. If it’s a wum attempt that will be cracked down on too. Otherwise we turn into RAWK where people get banned for posting anything different to the moderators.

attack the post not the poster is the forum motto
