No it's not. Denying a scoring opportunity only matters when it is deliberate. And you can't prove deliberation in a still frame. You cannot.
He clearly rolls the ball with his arm after the initial contact. If you can’t see that I don’t know what to tell you.

messed up a couple of times in attack where he could have put the attacker through for an opportunity at goal. Chelsea should have been 2-0 up prior to the Pen incident
I know which bits you're referring to, and yeah, he could have done better there. But, I don't really feel that this is a "part" of what he's in the team to do. He's better at winning the ball or picking it up and then moving it on. He's good at carrying at, though.

to me looks about the same as he was at united.
Yeah, not sure what people were expecting.

I mean obviously his second season at United was a particular low with his weight issues, which he's clearly fixed. And you'd expect him to get better at the things he's good at with experience. So I can easily believe he's a better player than he was a few years ago and certainly better than he was when he left us after probably the worst season of his career.

But he hasn't suddenly become a different type of player and his technical drawbacks like his erratic first touch can only improve so much at that age.

The thing is: the penalty was given for handball clearly preventing a goal. The rules state that such type of penalty must also be red. There is no grey area. The rules really allow for only two things: either it wasn't a penalty OR it was a penalty + red card.

Also, this was the first time a player got a red card at Anfield since 2016.

Amazing how stupid the whole handball, red card, penalty, and double jeopardy rules are that we have basically 5 pages of people arguing over rules which should be simple, but it's made difficult by the governing bodies changing stuff all the time  it's like a whole new sport.
Totally agree! If the rules change daily, are they really “rules”?

I think people should stop looking at the incident in super slow motion. No way he could react that quickly after the ball had bounced up from his leg, it was all one movement in a split second. It only hit the arm because it had hit his leg first.

If the penalty was given for the second movement after the ball had hit the arm already, then it is not a red card because there wasn´t a goal scoring opportunity any more. For me, it is a clear mistake.
Agreed.

no he doesn't. The ball bounces upwards and he doesn't touch it afterwards.

The upwards movement of the ball is because it deflects from his knee to his arm and continues upwards momentum, and his arm swings forwards because he is attempting to balance himself after the failed clearance.

Its accidental.

Lukaku's hold up play still looking poor. Keeping Chelsea under constant pressure as they can't stick anything to him to get some relief
