its eaten him up since he got there that he manages a fake club.
But they are league champions, UCL finalists and multiple trophy winners in recent years. They've been pretty much giving away tickets for 5-10 years.
To be fair to City, Liverpool used to get low attendances for even important CL games in the 2000s. They'd get the full house for the PL but CL games would be around 10k less.
If we all manage to get in weds v Leipzig…
i reckon we need a new song
how about
" we are,we are really here " etc
you know the rest
Not playing Devils Advocate but a lot of the older Utd fans have been saying the same. In terms of atmosphere, success is a double edged sword. The problem is you're basically asking that guy "Did you enjoy your life more 20, 25 years ago?". So what he's gonna say? Of course you remember when you were young, when you were 20. Nobody wants to be 40, 50.
Dont know the touristic visits to Manchester data but when they do come they usually go to Old Trafford and a lot of them. I've been there once and its a great city, dont know where does all that Manchester is this and that stuff come from.I think City's fanbase didn't grow for 3-4 years now at least but it's a combination of more factors: 1) no galactico signings with massive following 2) there are already many, many brands in football 3) not many tourist are excited about visiting Manchester.
he's never seemed very happy at City to me, I think he's taken the offer because it was too good to refuse, i mean they essentially gave him everything he could ever wish for as a manager, and an open cheque book,
But he isn't stupid, he knows it's a completely soul-less enterprise. I reckon he wanted out a couple of seasons ago but for whatever reason they have him by the balls. I mean how many times has he mentioned leaving now to the press? (before backtracking in the very next interview)
It'll be very interesting to see what happens to City when he does leave, where do they go from there? they've had the best manager in the world for a long time now, I think it may be a bit of a reality check once he does leave, If the best manager and arguably one of the best teams in the world won't fill your stadium... what will?
Not sure if the snippet takes this out of context slightly (I'm sure it does), but yeah we got emails at work offering tickets for £20 for adults for the Leipzig game.
Unbelievable really. It wasn't long ago our tickets for the League Cup game sold out within about an 30 mins of Ronnie signing.

Yeah it's weird. On their forum you have some of them saying they got their tickets for £12.50-17.50 then others bemoaning being priced out of watching football even though I constantly hear their games being advertised on radio and usually with hefty discounts. Not sure if the snippet takes this out of context slightly (I'm sure it does), but yeah we got emails at work offering tickets for £20 for adults for the Leipzig game.

You're right (us being United) however I think they've opened more of the stadium capacity since tickets first went out.Who are you meaning with this?
United v West Ham has a sh!Tload of tickets for sale, and just in case you're meaning City, they're playing my boys Wycombe next Tuesday, and the prices are £10 - £12.50 for goodness sake

I think a 40 or 50 year old is capable of acknowledging the difference between life in general and the match going experience. The problem is you're basically asking that guy "Did you enjoy your life more 20, 25 years ago?". I was enquiring about the Matchday VIP tickets for the Newcastle game and asked about West Ham and was told it was sold out as of that day. I don't think I've ever seen top tier of the SAF stand open for a R3 League cup game before!
True but that's exactly why you should change your expectations and emotional involvement. Treat it like a tv series. I love Succession but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stan Jeremy Strong on Twitter or care what happened to him this week. He's just a guy who's there to entertain me. And if he doesn't then I move to other things and my money move with me. And it should be like that with modern football players. You're not your football club.I think a 40 or 50 year old is capable of acknowledging the difference between life in general and the match going experience.
You can’t expect that the 20/25 year olds who follow the team home and away today are going to have the same experience as the ones who did in the Maine Road days. The bigger the club is, the less important the fans will generally feel.
The players back then probably recognised these regular matchgoers by face and name (think they even mentioned something like that) whereas you can’t fool me into thinking these shiny new foreign exports who’ve come purely to further themselves / money really care. Same at United
Thought the idea was to attract people from Manchester, not Liverpool.I think City shall offer fish and chips along with a free beer with each ticket.
I wish Wycombe had drawn United! Obviously for it being an epic meeting of two teams I've supported for 30 years, but also for the proper crowd.
United would get 50,000 even for Wycombe, whereas I'm guessing City may scrape 20,000, if we take a decent 2,000, which is a stretch for a club with about 3,000 season ticket holders, 180miles on a Tuesday night.
Strange mix of being pleased with a tenner entry for myself as a season ticket holder (at Wycombe), counter balanced with being annoyed that we'll probably only earn about 100k out of such a supposedly big draw!
