He has been a great player for us for years, saving us countless times .The amount of vitriol and hate shown towards him for the last couple of years was embarassing. Well done Dave.

Interesting thing about that pen was that he propelled himself off his line instead of flopping to the side. It was a poor pen but it shows that he’s been working on them.
Aye. If I remember right he was better in that regard for the first few penalties in the EL final shootout as well before reverting to his old technique after a few went in. Might be he had been working on it at that point too but wasn't yet confident/comfortable enough with it not to fall back into his old technique as the pressure increased.

The disrespect towards him from United fans in recent years has really bothered me. Top keeper.

Talking about overanalysis, he was doing his usual choosing the side before the penalty was taken, nut it was a shite penalty and it was a reflex save in the end.

Not taking anything out of David though, he is a hero of the day and it's great for his confidence.

Form is temporary but class is permanent, really glad to see him back to a top quality level.

He seems way more focused this season, hopefully he keeps this up.

We’ve had some big players start this season in very bad form but not Dave,

Fair decks to him, everyone had pretty much wrote him off but he’s risen from the ashes and is showing World Class form and the De Gea we all
Know and love has returned !

So happy for him
Not everyone wrote him off. Alot of us always had him as number one. He is the best goalkeeper in the league at his best and despite being in patches of form is still capable of insane saves.

He's been with us a decade. He is a club legend. He has been through highs and lows with us. It would be nice if some fans appreciate that.

Aside from the penalty save, I have to say that I think his kicking has been sensational so far this season. He's started so many brilliant counters already.

We can get about 40 million for Henderson as well.
From who? He's on 100k p/w. Or are you one of the posters that believe we can get 30m for Lingard with a year on his deal and big money for Dalot/Pereira. Please list me the club(s) that will pay around £40m for Henderson.

If Ramsdale is 30 million, I’m pretty sure we’ll get 40 for Henderson. Unless we’re totally incompetent.

Neighbours must think I'm fecking crazy with how much I was shouting today. First the penalty decision against us, then Lingard's goal, then the penalty decision for them....then finally for De Gea's save it was fecking primal. I'm sure we all were.

My number one. He's been in much better form for a while now. The Villarreal shootout took the gloss off that for a while for some people, understandbly, but he's so clearly our best goalkeeper.

Yeah and it was very strange and mostly exaggerated.

Really happy he saved that. Just solidified the good performances he's been having lately.

Maybe he did need the kick up the arse of Henderson. Reckon that coupled with the teamsheet has given him a boost.

What a perfect way to save a penalty again and end that long streak of unsaved penalties, must have been incredibly frustrating for him.

If i' not mistaken I find him more confident in the box. Coming out and intercepting more passes which is good to see. Hopefully newly instilled confidence will make him come out for more crosses too. Long may this continue

And I just gave you…
Ok, so Arsenal have just brought in a keeper, Chelsea have a very solid keeper in Mendy, Liverpool and City have the two Brazilians. Not sure any teams outside of that pool of clubs would spend circa £40m on a £100 p/w keeper. So what club(s) do you think will splash that kind of cash on Henderson?

As a fan who never waivered from supporting him, I know the feeling. So many forgot the years he was our star player, yet were so quick to discard him, linking it to the new contract and saying he didnt give a shit yet not thinking that, as a human being like all of us, something may be going on in his personal life which could have affected him.

The last sentence may be a fan boy view to defend him, but at the end of the day we are all human and can go through rough patches personally which then affects our careers. I know I've been through it, and it's no different for footballers. If he did go through something (read about his wife and issues of distance potentially affecting him) then it can be understandable the struggle.

Anyway. Rant over and De Gea brought me and the family so much bloody joy today, celebrated that save more than any goal scored this season. Loved the reaction of the players after too.

Won us 6 points already this season.

A great keeper always gives you 12-15 points a season and de gea is already half way there after 5 games

It’s the premier league. Anyone could conceivably spend a lot of money.

His bad form was going on for too long, I wanted him out.
I'm also really glad he has turned it around.

I mean, he did dip several levels in form for a very, very long time, and there's no sense denying that. Delighted he appears to be back to his old self, though.

You can't expect fans to just ignore it when a player goes through a dramatic downturn that lasts several seasons. That's silly.

He’s started the season really well. Even came off his line to claim a long ball!

There should be no question about who #1 is for the season from here on out. I know Ole said he'll give Henderson a chance to get to 100% and maybe somewhere down the line look at things but, can't do that with keepers IMO. De Gea for a while was one of the worlds best, had a dip and Henderson didn't do enough to really claim the spot. Now DDG is confident and for a keeper, probably entering what could be some prime years of his career.
