Ronaldo is prime example of why talented attackers should avoid this club. He was always going to get scapegoated by this clubs fanbase.

We're now a club for the McTominay's and not for the Ronaldos. McSaucers are the type of players our fanbase loves and appreciates, while the Ronaldo's of this world rile them up.
 What a steaming load of bollox. I suggest you have a read of the McTominay thread.

Bit of a weird argument to make straight after one of the worst performances/results in the history of this football club. We really haven’t got worse since Ronaldo was signed? Seriously?
It was the first time we played a team capable of giving us a beating since the last time we played Liverpool. When we were almost as bad and they stuck four past us. He’s certainly not helping our overall game particularly but this kind of result has been coming for a long time.

United were not amazing and flawed but were at least vaguely moving towards something before he arrived.

We drew 1-1 with Liverpool with a Pereira, James and Rashford front 3. Ole was kind of getting the balance right in a roundabout way, we had clean sheets against top 4 in 5 of 6 matches last season. The next stage was turning 0-0s into 1-0s, not losing 5-0 after 50 mins at home. It is a sharp decline, we’ve gone from looking solid top 4 to a mid table team.

Anyone could have watched Portugal over the past two or three years and seen that he limited Bruno, our best player. Really didn’t suit the club

Having Ronaldo changes all expectations...the dressing room has been weak for years, I think some of the players might have simply looked at Ronnie and thought they had made it! Big Mistake!

But the media are loving it, so we are going to have to get used to reading negative stories about Ronaldo 24/7.
Tbf I don't think our players are in awe of Ronaldo that much. I'd say most seem do not really like him.

In the incident last match where he kicked Jones basically the entire Liverpool team jumped on him and there was only Bruno to come and defend him.

Greenwood was close by, Rashford was close by but none bothered. Rashford usually is very eager to defend his teammates. Very late on I think McT and AWB or Fred showed up and that's it. Against Liverpool and at OT. People may say our players are cowards but they always defended each other in the previous matches. They didn't for Ronaldo yesterday though.

He really struggle physically to get himself that little bit of space to create his own shot.
He did it vs Liverpool but unfortunately it was offside but if he is in a battle with a defender then really his physical decline is very blatant

It's definitely more to do with the players not showing any heart or spirit than not liking Ronaldo. I mean they all post pics with him on their social media at every given opportunity.

Oh that I don't know. Probably it's what you said then. I don't use any social media.

So please enlighten me, what is Ronaldo preventing that we had before? I'd like to hear the myths.

Hit the nail on the head here.

We've chased out Lukaku, battered Martial, slated Rashford, and now Ronaldo is next in line of our strikers to be scapegoated and absolutely hammered. Only Cavani has escaped this treatment, because he runs around.

It's so painfully obvious- Ronaldo doesn't press and as soon as Bruno does then our midfield gets opened up.

How many times have you seen Bruno trying to press higher than Ronaldo this season and a pass that has gone through both Ronaldo and Bruno and nearly straight through our midfield?

It's way too easy.
If you slide over to the Bruno bashing thread, aka "Bruno Player Performance", they make the point that Bruno is continuously out of position and that's why he keeps getting pulled. That no one else runs around "pressing" all over the field, leaving the field wide open.

Are people actually deluding themselves into believing the only reason we aren't playing well this season and the reason we won't win anything is because Ronaldo joined? Please give me a break i'm tired
Most of the criticism come from people who always hated him or want to see him fail, They always try to scapegoat Ronaldo for basically everything outside of his control, Been like this since forever really.

You do know this McTominay fellow makes up half of the McFred duo right? I mean McFred must be the most used word on the caf and it's hardly because people are showering them with praise so I'm not sure what you're basing this 'love and appreciation' on.

Also, pretty much every single player who has played regularly over the past few years must be included in these 'Ronaldo's of this world' who rile up our fanbase since most of them have been/are getting absolutely trashed on here with very few exceptions.

There’s a video going about on Twitter of Ronaldo mocking Ole’s tactics waving his arms about all funny.

Still need a striker that runs though. His legs have gone, it's even more obvious when you watch him live.

I really believe we should refrain from criticizing Ronaldo.
1/ We forget that he has scored close to 800 goals in his career . who has in this century ? maybe very few if any.
2/ He is playing as a striker so he needs service.
3/The wingers and full backs does not supply him in most games -mostly it seems Bruno and that is not enough
4/ He is a player who scores many half chances and goals out of nothing while others cannot

Last couple of games, Ronaldo worked his socks off. I was surprised by his tracking back for defense and also his passing for the attacks. If not Ronaldo it would have been Martial or Cavani and I think at the moment he is atleast good if not better than both. It is the 10 other players who are playing bonkers. Rashford, Greenwood with absolutely zero contribution to the defense and Maguire/Shaw playing some of the ridiculous football of their life. Less said about the midfield the better.

As much as I love Ole, results of last few games is only down to Ole and his management unfortunately. His distrust in rotation and playing the players even when they are injured is really stupid at this level. After Maguire horrible show against atalanta, I could not believe he did not replace him or tried different tactics.

We didn't win against Wolves and Southampton away before Ronaldo came in. So to blame Ronaldo for the current problems in the team is ridiculous. You take his clutch goals out of the team we would be in a much worse position and would already be out of the CL.

I think pundits and football experts are finally waking up to the fact Greenwood is the main problem in this team, and Sancho needs to start ahead of him to bring balance to the team. You can't expect Ronaldo to score without service. Like Anton Ferdinand said on Five with Rio on YouTube, if Wayne Rooney one of the best players England have produced is prepared to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team to get the best out of Ronaldo to win trophies, so should a 20 year Greenwood and it's bizarre he isn't.. he is a 20 year old kid and should just be happy to play regularly learning from the GOAT in CR7 there shouldn't be this ego already with Greenwood when he's achieved sweet f all.. does make you wonder if that's why Southgate doesn't fancy him if he's showing some bad signs.. we don't see him in training and behind the scenes. One to watch for sure. But Greenwood has a lot to learn and achieve before he can be one of the best players in the World. Let's see if he develops himself the next few years.

This is a huge problem with him. He just can't STFU with stuffs like these. He needs to talk or do something knowing all the cameras are on him.

He is playing striker and when strikers don't have service or without the ball they press. I don't care if he did against Atalanta if the next match he gave all the space in the world for Liverpool's defence and midfield.

none of the goals Liverpool scored came from 37 year old Ronaldo not Pressing.. 20-year old Greenwood however (who should be running around all game at his age) cost us the first goal which gave Liverpool all the momentum and was difficult to recover from (as we started the game well until we lost that goal). Like Scholes said Greenwood was cheating.

yet you are not going in the Greenwood thread going in two-footed on him. Agendas

but carry on.

Ronaldo is the only one in this team who cares and has pride in losing. Shame the rest of the players are not the same otherwise Manchester United might actually win something for once! But they are playing like failures and flops just like they have been for the past 10 years (before Ronaldo joined while he was lifting Champions League and Ballon d'Ors because unlike the rest of the team he's a serial winner not a serial loser! Sadly that's how this group of players will be remembered if they don't start performing)

it won't hurt Ronaldo's reputation not winning trophies here, he's already done that all throughout his career he can retire happy as one of if not the best and most decorated footballers of all time. The other players will be remembered for that though. Any smart manager would build the team around the serial winner in the team, and create more chances for him in the games by playing the likes of Sancho, as that will give you the best chance to win team trophies too. Ole made the mistake not to build the team around Ronaldo. Let's see if the next manager does.

It's not the same match clearly, see the uniforms they're different. Ole's gestures are from another season.

Ronaldo has ran a lot in the past few games, that isn't the problem. It's the incoherent organization that is dragging us back with brings us back to the coaching. And the attack is the least of oru concern, our atrocious defense organization is what is losing us the games. Furthermore, Ronaldo hasn't "made us worse". He won us 6 points on his own, he basically saved our CL group. I don't know what people want from him. Without him this season would already be over. He is actually incredibly fast still from what I've seen. It's not that his legs are gone, it's the fact that he is more or less isolated up top in a role he has never played in his life. Doesn't help that Greenwood is extremely selfish. If SAF was in charge of United, Greenwood would get an ultra hairdryer for his plays. This is something that should have been coached out of him by now, but Ole is unable to do it, obviously. No matter how great of a talent Greenwood is, if he cannot play the team game, he's never going to achieve anything in fotoball. Which is why a better manager would have benched him now for Sancho, but I digress.

like Anton Ferdinand said on Five with Rio on YouTube (link above). Ronaldo and Lukaku press about the same but Lukaku is playing in a better structured team (with other players pressing etc) who play to his strengths. That's the only difference. Ronaldo isn't the problem he's been amazing the clutch goals he's scored he basically got us through the CL group which we never got through without him last season. It's down to the manager to get the United team as good and as structured as this Chelsea team.

it's bizarre isn't it. When you consider Wayne Rooney sacrificed himself as he knew that gave the team the best chance to win trophies getting the best out of CR7. Like Anton Ferdinand said on Five with Rio.. you'd think the other players would see that.

I agree about Greenwood, he's not going to achieve anything in football if he doesn't change his attitude and drop the ego. He's playing regularly for Manchester United at 20 years old he should just be happy with that most young players would be.. even the amazing talent Ronaldo never started every-game for United at 20 years of age as Fergie protected and nurtured him more.. but Greenwood also wants to be the main-man.. he could be the main-man one day but every club has a hierarchy based on experience, medals and trophies won.

like I said with Greenwood it's starting to make sense why England and Southgate are not picking him..

I said after the Ronaldo signing that anyone and everyone else would get stick this season even when he’s playing shit and it is already happening. He has offered so little to our overall play with and without the ball. To the point that it is a detriment to the team. And yet Greenwood who has been our best attacker this season is being trashed all over the forum. Ronaldo needs to up his game or have a seat on the bench. His goals don’t justify his lack of contribution in every other area of the game. And people need to realize that a 36 year old poacher is not above reproach.

There is no problem with wanting to be the main man, young Ronaldo also wanted to be that guy. But young Ronaldo understood the faults in his game and quickly rectified them with made him all the better player for it and won him the first Ballon d'Or. Greenwood not only seems to lack that kind of drive to improve himself, but he also appears to be very arrogant and ego driven player. Young Ronaldo would look for the more experienced players and try to learn from them. He'd spend absurd amount of time with Scholesy trying to improve his shots and passing play. Greenwood looks like he doesn't give a feck. Now that's the kind of attitude that is going to take you nowhere.

Ravel Morrison had all the talent in the world and look at him now.

I don't understand your logic. You're critiquing Ronaldo for his lack of play outside goalscoring, yet you praise Mason for the same thing despite Mason not even contributing nearly enough as Ronaldo has in terms of the final third and his play outside the final third is non-existent. Right now if anyone needs benching, that's Greenwood.

This post is just more evidence to support my point. No one has contributed more to our overall play going forward this season than Greenwood. And yet we have posters claiming Ronaldo who has done sweet feck all outside of goalscoring has contributed more. It beggars belief and I honestly wonder whether some even watch our matches at times judging by some of the comments.

What has Greenwood contributed exactly apart from being a deadly finisher? He doesn't press, he hardly ever passes, he doesn't cross, he makes stupid decisions all the time and he tries to play as a striker from a winger position. You can blame Ronaldo, okay, but to argue Greenwood has done more than him is simply not true. At the moment any competent manager would give him an earful

Oh. Perhaps the next hotshot manager will get the forwards to play as a team.
You know, pass to the player in the best position to score.
Or is that not exciting enough?
Could be more exciting than that. As it is at City and Liverpool. Maybe the next hotshot manager (who we won't get) will make it work. Or maybe they'll have to make tons of adjustments as we have a few players who limit our style.

You don't have a case, mate. Saying Greenwood is playing better certainly doesn't make it so. Ronaldo has won us 6 points in the league and won us Atalanta and Villareal, basically saving our CL group. What has Greenwood, in comparison, done to deserve such praise? So far zero assists and less goals than Ronaldo despite playing more games. You have no argument here, truly.

Greenwood scored decisive goals against Leeds and Wolves in his only two matches playing up top this season before being shunted out wide again for a 36 year old poacher. Another stupid argument.

You don’t bring Ronaldo in without a plan on maximizing his talents, yet that’s exactly what Ole did. Incredible that that’s where we are now, adrift and sinking quickly with arguably the greatest footballer of all time in the squad.

Greenwood has been better this season. He's actually been good in his general play (aside from his 4 goals) compared to Ronaldo who has been a ghost in that regard.

What are you talking about? He scored 1 goal in the Leeds game, not crucial in any way. His only crucial goal came against Wolves, in a game we were incredibly lucky to escape without getting battered, let alone win

Greenwood has been terrible at general play. You're only confused because he gets the ball more often than not because Ronaldo is stuck up top in a poacher role.

Greenwood is only supposed to feed Ronaldo you see. If he doesn't do that the fanboys revolt. Unless he scores a long range screamer and then they hold their anger for a bit.

Stuck up top  Poor fellow unable to help his team mates because someone has tied him to a plank in the box. He isn't stuck there, he chooses to play as a poacher and let everyone else do the hard work.

Greenwood's general play has been good if one has a working pair of eyes to watch him play. A few occasions of not passing to your Ronnie has blinkered you.
