Manchester United has now the same problem as Bayern Munich. An aging world class striker who is still world class for another 1 or 2 seasons.
Haaland won't join either club to be the second choice striker for a couple of years.
Just look at the situation of Nübel and Neuer and how his to move to Bayern panned out.

Haaland can choose any club of the world, do why would he take the risk to sit on the bench for a couple of seasons.

I guess Nübel wasn't the most sought after young GK in the world when he signed for BM though.

I can think of worse problems to have to be fair!

But I agree with your general point.

Why would he be another benchwarmer?
There are a few different scenarios I could see this happen considering how Ole treat his players, and on how he picks his team:
- Ole got his favorite players, he picks these even when they are in a bad form. Haaland could become one of his favorite players, but he would still be behind Ronaldo.
- If Haaland takes time to adapt, like Sancho, then I can see Ole picking other players before him
- If Ole picks a formation with only one CF he will pick Ronaldo most of the time, if not all the time. Haaland would probably then become a supersub.

In reality I reckon the pressure on Ole would be too big not to play Haaland, so he would probably play Ronaldo and Haaland together as much as possible.

Haaland would be ahead of Ronaldo every day of the week, there is no scenario where he isn't.
Haaland will hit the ground running where ever he goes.

What we do with Ronaldo would be the real challenge.

I am not sure we need to think what we do with Ronaldo because if we do not challenge for the title this season, no chance Haaland is coming to United anyway.

Ole would probably not know how to get the best out of him I guess. Rashford and Greenwood have done okay though, he hasnt done anything with Sancho and Diallo so far and I feel like much more is even to come from Greenwood. Rashford has been good all things considered.

Yeah that's true - when I look at Pep buying Zlatan for Barcelona, even though it didn't work; he doesn't exactly play like Haaland either and was a very technical player.

Would you say the closest least technical in the box striker that Pep managed was maybe maybe Aguero?
Problem with Zlatan at Barca was that Messi was far more effective centrally.

I dont want Haaland in United as long as his agent is Raiola.
If Haaland joins in PL club it will not take more than a year before Raiola starts his pitch to get him to RM or Barcelona.
If Haaland hits the ground running Raiola will say he is too good for this club. I Haaland dont get of to a great start it is the club and the coach that do not understand him.
No never again make a deal with a Raiola player.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Bundesliga stats are NOT reflective of quality!
This new stats generation are frustrating.

Kagawa came to United based on numbers.
Mkhitarian had better stats than Sancho.
Sancho is proving its a big adjustment.
Werner, Havertz, I could go on and on.

Truth is more often than not Bundesliga players are a big gamble and need a lot of time to adjust.

The fact people are comparing Ronaldo stats to Haaland is insane, a proven scorer wherever he's been vs essentially a system striker at Dortmund (I like Haaland I think he's general play is good, but it's a far lesser league than people care to admit). Look at Ronaldo's first few games vs Sancho's and explain to me the difference there?

There are more misses than hits from the Bundesliga to Prem. Not saying there isn't success but theres a BIG adjustment variable.

And anybody talking bad on Greenwood in my opinion is just foolish. Greenwood has proven over and over again he is more than Prem ready. He has proven stats 18-20 years old, in the toughest league in the world better than seasoned forwards in almost any part of the world. I prefer to keep him wide for now but to try and rub his achievements out by juking some forward minute stats is pathetic IMO.

Put Fifa down, put FM down, stop your YouTube highlights. Football is not just about stats (unless you're new to the sport then rock on). There is so much more context you're missing.

Whilst I agree that im also very conscious about Bundesliga players - I think Haaland was good at his other club/league before Dortmund and then is absolutely killing it in the CL and the national team too.

I like Haaland don't get me wrong. Out of all the Bundesliga prospects from that crop (Havertz, Sancho, Werner, Bailey etc) I put him top by some distance, one of my dream signings Naehus is from Bundesliga. That still don't negate the fact Haaland is still a risk.

People are comparing him to RONALDO just think about that for one second. Do you know how insane that is.

Greenwood has hit double digits in the first team since he broke into it as a teenager. That is no small feat. Sebastian Haller was signed for BIG money (from the Bundesliga) and couldn't achieve that. He's now in the dutch league looking potent again. He came to the Prem for big money from Bundesliga he couldn't do it here.

So yes you can look at stats XG and all that other crap but it excludes huge bits of context.

One big bit of context people are missing is he was great for his old club like you said, and a big plus sign was the manager who initially got him was Ole. And whethere your Ole in or Out we can't guarantee his future at thos club.

Personally for me it's a non starter I doubt he's coming here he looks a Madrid player to me (their project is frightening).

But the denegration of Ronaldo and Greenwood is what probably triggered my post it's just so weird, shortsighted and tinkering the lines of baseless understanding of the game.

Ole was managing Haaland when he made the transition from a youth player to senior player. He coached him and helped him with the mental aspects from when he was struggling to score goals, to becoming more consistent in his performances on the field.
Ole knows how to play him.

If we can get him, I'm not sure at this point. But I think we have a good shot.
His release clause kicks in next summer, and will 99% certain move then. But it's not like the case of players on outgoing contracts, he can't sign a pre-contract from January, so it will be down to clubs proving through the spring season that they have the best possible package deal for him, maybe get a verbal agreement, but still nothing is signed until the summer.

You know what you did there or perhaps you unintentionally misunderstandood, but we can sit around and Juke the stats all day and thats why highlighting stats is pointless, which is my overall argument. Taking quotes out of context on this platform is what makes this place draining and toxic at times.

The season we signed Kagawa and Mkhitarian we signed them off the back of some incredible numbers they had produced. Mkhitarian season before he came to United was FAAAR better than Sancho's for whatever excuse you will probably come up with.
Now if you want to say why we should included his entire time with the club go ahead you'd be right to. But then I guess you will be going down a slippery slope and I have a 5 limit daily posts to work with so I won't do that and CBB.

Point is regardless of your framing rightly or wrongly. Overall point still remains.

The "excuse" is that Mkhitaryan played a lot more games and minutes than Sancho in their respective final seasons for the club.
Yes Mkhitaryan had 23 goals and 32 assists, while Sancho had "only" 16 goals and 20 assists.
But Mkhitaryan played 52 games and 4380 minutes, leaving him with a goal involvement every 79.6 minutes.
Sancho played 38 games and 2974 minutes, leaving him with a goal involvement every 82.6 minutes.

So yes, Mkhitaryan did have slightly better numbers than Sancho in his final season, but Sancho delivered similar numbers for 3 straight seasons whereas Mhkitaryan was not as consistent every season.

Pogba was a star under Ole when he managed our Youth Reserves right? I don't think that's the point but much rather that Ole is a 0 tactically and there is only so much Haaland can do by his sheer individual brilliance, this even holds for potentially the GOAT. He has no style of play where our centre forwards are consistently on the end of chances. It is pure hoping for some Bruno moment of brilliance or Pogba when he's up for it.

Sancho is a far better player then Mikhi ever was. It is quite an achievement to not be getting any production out of Sancho.

Chelsea is likely going back in for Haaland, Tuchel even talked about it in October. Tuchel thinks Haaland and Rom can play together.

We’ve seen some quite reputable sources say that’s Mino wants the most unreal wages imaginable ~500k/week. He’s either going to Real or PSG.

I agree. Don't want a player managed by Raiola playing for United ever again. You may get a good season or two, but you can't build a team for sustained dominance with Raiola players.

Agree with Kagawa and Mkhi but not Havertz and Werner.
Havertz is quality although took some time to deliver. Werner, for all his misses , is really good IMO and could be lethal once he gets his confidence back.

he’s a monster, a physical freak of nature, similar in stature to zlatan... he will be just fine in the premiership, infact, it will suit him down to a tee.

Agree with all that. But it's his CL stats that show what a top player he is. None of the above flops did much in the CL.

Well, that's it then, isn't it?

With Ole gone & the club struggling to make the top 4 & probably very little chance of winning the UCL this season, the chances of us getting him next summer are zero. :(

Well its seems that'll be it for the young prodigy in Europe's most prestigious competition as dourtmond have bottled an early lead and will be facing a premature exist from the competition

It serves as a very disappointing season for him as his team has had a very disappointing performance overall added to his serious injury compounding it

It must be seen what future holds for him as I doubt he would spend another season over there for his own growths sake

Not necessarily...

Didn't the rules change

https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsl...ef2df7ed44-1000--the-rules-january-transfers/

So if dortmund cash in and sell him to say Man City he can still play for them this season

Given his buy out clause is active in the summer I wonder if dortmund might be tempted by 100 million in January... which is basically the kane money they had left from the summer

Is it worth it though ? He's currently injured set to lose a big portion of the season and dourtmond simply don't have the bargaining chips here anymore

his clause will kick in summer and none of the big clubs with money are in a dire need for striker to Be forced to go for him anyway

The only plausible option is city who need a striker and have the cash at hand but that just doesn't seem like their style though weirder things have happened so we'll see

He seems abit injury-proned doesn’t he? Dortmund is out of CL now, so no more CL goals for him this season, other than only 1 goals scored in 2 games, which is a pity, as he has perfect start in CL over past 2 seasons.

He will move to bigger club next season though. So let’s see. If he wants to reunite his successful partnership with Sancho, he can always come to Old Trafford, just saying.

I don’t know, if City signed Haaland it would be an big upgrade from their striker department for sure. And they still need to compete with Chelsea and Liverpool this season, who are just as strong.

But to spend 100 or even more while they can get him for 75 in the summer ?

Sure it would be an massive upgrade boosting their chance for both the league and cl but I'm not sure city or pep are very enamored with idea while having spent upwards of 120 million on grealish who has been lukewarm at best

(Also he just doesn't seem like a pep player who doesn't really take out the best out of his strikers and I point to both Lewandowski worlds best no9 who underperformed while pep was there and aguero who fell out of favor with him )

You think city give a flying feck about 25m ? They'd chuck an extra 25m for good measure and make it 125m.

He is City bound. Bayern have Lewandowski, United have Ronaldo, Chelsea just spent money on Lukaku, Liverpool couldn’t pay his wages, Madrid will be going all in on Mbappe’s contract, PSG don’t have the competitive league prestige and Barcelona have Luuk de Jong.

City are the only serious club with the money and the open position. There is no project, he will be playing for the big prizes from the off at a club that will pay him whatever he wants.
